Tyla Breaks Beyoncé’s Record On Spotify

South African singer, Tyla, has reached a new milestone on Spotify.
She broke Beyoncé’s record for the most streamed album by a black female artist released in 2024.
Tyla’s eponymous debut album archived the feat after amassing 1.565 billion streams on Spotify, surpassing Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ (1.564 billion).
The album is the all-time most streamed album by a female African artist.
The lead single ‘Water’ has garnered almost a billion streams on Spotify. It won the maiden Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammys.
However, Tyla’s album and its deluxe were snubbed in the recently announced 67th Grammys nominations.
She remains the most awarded African artist this year with 20 awards including 1 Grammy, 3 MTV EMAs, 2 BET Awards, 1 MTV VMA, 1 Billboard Global Force Award, 4 South African Music Awards, 1 Cultural and Creative Industry Award, 1 DStv Content Creator Award, one 3 Music Award, 1 Metro FM Music Award, 1 Africa Arts Entertainment Award, 2 Basadi in Music Awards and 1 South African Style Award.

Social media critic, Verydarkman has said that late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad will never get justice because the truth about his death has been hidden.

He offered insights into the quest for justice regarding Mohbad’s death, citing the conspicuous silence of parties involved.

Recall that Mohbad passed away in September 2023, a devastating loss for Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

Despite multiple court hearings and investigations, the cause of his death remains a mystery.

In a recent Instagram post, Verydarkman expressed frustration that individuals privy to the truth about Mohbad’s death are choosing to remain silent.

He claimed to have warned about this outcome, lamenting that the late singer may never receive justice.

His post reads, “Mohbad case don end , make una no vex.Na una sentiment give the real people when know wetin do the boy passage to hide the truth just like I warned.So, it has happened.Mohbad will never get justice”.

Nigerian singer, Skales has lashed out at the Nigerian police.
He narrated a sad experience with police officers yesterday who stopped him and demanded for ‘Christmas’ money.
According to the singer, when he refused to give the officers money, they pointed guns at him and others while threatening to delay him.
He wrote:
“Nigerian police will not stop being a joke …so yesterday the Nigerian police under the bridge close to magodo as if you’re going to fela shrine/agidingbi stopped us on our way to city fm last night & displayed plenty madness of pointing guns at us as if we were criminals after they finished their usual b.s they now asked for money for Christmas then I said I swear I’m not giving and we are late for an interview … they said a lot of rubbish .. that they would delay us and search us … and I said my level of hatred for this joke called Nigerian police force will not let me want to ever be at your mercy so we dropped for them to search.. this stupid Nigerian police men saw bundles of cash and started saying ok so you get money you no want give us we go show you today.. I laughed and said you no go like public embarrassment my guy..  after they searched and saw nothing .. they asked for papers also.. that too was good baba come they say God save you .. we been wan show you pepper … Nigerian police force e no go better for una … Nigerian police I will never respect those fools.. useless people na only to stop Benz una sabi when yawa gas una go gbes .. foolish idiots”

‘Morayo’, the album of Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Wizkid has debuted on Billboard 200 chart.

Morayo entered the chart at 98th position with 13,000 units sold in its 1st week.

Announcing the new feat, Chart Data via X wrote “Wizkid’s ‘Morayo’ debuts at 98 on this week’s Billboard 200 (13K sold).”

Morayo became Wizkid’s fourth album to debut on the chart.

‘Morayo’, which was released on November 22, 2024, is a tribute to Wizkid’s late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who died in August 2023.
