Davido has put forward several entries for the 2027 Grammys.

His album Oriade, his sixth studio album, was entered for Album of the Year, Best Global Music Album, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical and Best Album Cover.

His hit B4 B4, featuring Mayorkun and FOLA, was submitted for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance.

Nakupenda, featuring TxC, Zlatan, Shoday, Scotts Maphuma and Al Xapo, was entered for Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance.

I Know Who I Be, featuring JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay, was submitted for Best Music Video.

First round voting runs from October 12 to 22.

Nominees will be announced on November 16, and the ceremony is set for February 7, 2027.

Davido previously received Grammy nominations at the 66th edition in 2024 for Timeless and for the songs Unavailable and Feel.

Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has claimed that no one could defeat him in a free and fair election in Nigeria, should he ever decide to run for political office.

He, however, said he has no interest in contesting for any elective position at the moment, citing the corrupt nature of Nigerian elections and the electoral body.

Speaking during a recent livestream with online streamer Carter Efe, Davido said he would rather focus on his music until there is genuine electoral transparency in the country.

He said he preferred to concentrate on his music for now, adding that he could consider contesting for elective office once there was transparency in the system.

He maintained that nobody could beat him in any election, insisting that in a truly free and fair contest, he could even win a presidential election in Nigeria.

He added that the lack of transparency in the system, where he alleged that results were manipulated, was the real problem, saying he was watching closely to see what would happen in the upcoming Osun State gubernatorial election, describing the situation as one that leaves people disillusioned.

Afrobeats musician David Adeleke, often known as Davido, will speak to journalists and citizens on Wednesday on security, the Independent National Electoral Commission’s preparedness, and other matters concerning the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

An invitation issued on Tuesday states that the press conference would take place at Imole House, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo, at 11 a.m.

“I will be having a press conference tomorrow at Imole House, Osogbo, to discuss security, INEC and transparency issues,” Davido said in announcing the briefing online.

The musician, who was recently named Chairman of the Imole Youth Mobilisation Committee for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign, is anticipated to address security, electoral transparency, and other significant problems ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.

The campaign invitation advertised the event as “Davido addresses issues (security, INEC transparency, and other major issues) surrounding the Osun 2026 gubernatorial election.”

Adeleke of the Accord Party is running for a second term in office in the August 15 governorship election.

Davido, the governor’s nephew, has taken an active role in the campaign, spearheading youth mobilization efforts and participating in a variety of political activities throughout the state.

Afrobeats musician Davido has disclosed that his family has a long history of sending students to study abroad, going all the way back to his grandfather’s age.

The award-winning musician revealed that his grandfather made sure his kids attended school overseas, especially in the United States, in a recent interview that went viral on social media.

According to Davido, his father attended university in Kentucky, describing international education as a tradition that has been maintained within his family for decades.

The singer noted that studying abroad is a common practice among many affluent African families, adding that the trend has persisted across generations in his own family.

Davido also spoke about his family’s multicultural background, revealing that his parents first met in London.

He explained that his mother hails from Edo State, while his father is Yoruba, with Igbo ancestry through his grandmother.

He further disclosed that his mother later travelled to the United States to pursue a master’s degree, which deepened the family’s long-standing ties to America.

Reflecting on his upbringing between Nigeria and the United States, Davido said the exposure played a significant role in shaping his worldview and contributed positively to both his personal development and his international music career.

He credited the experience with helping him develop a global perspective that has influenced his success on the world stage.
