Tiwa Savage Is Like Wizkid To Female Nigerian Artistes – Seyi Vibez

Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi, the Nigerian rising singer, who is also known as Seyi Vibez, has opined that award-winning songstress Tiwa Savage is the female equivalent of Wizkid in the Nigerian music industry.

The ‘Chance’ crooner commended Nigerian female artistes for also contributing their quotas to the development of the country’s entertainment industry.

He said, “We have female [artistes] that are doing good. For example, Tems; when she came up, she was like international.

“Tiwa Savage, she is like the Wizkid to the female artistes. Everyone is just holding it to their own corner, killing it. Everyone is doing their own job. I think Simi is on tour.”

Seyi Vibez said he started music in secondary school at the age of 14, adding that he blew up as an independent artist.

“I blew up independently without a record label and I still don’t have a record label but I have a management in place putting my stuff out there,” he said.

A famous American music producer, Swizz Beats disclosed the part he and his ex-wife, Alicia Keys, played in introducing Nigerian Afrobeats singers, Wizkid and Burna Boy to audiences in America.

He made this known on Amazon Music’s Roundtable audiovisual podcast. Swizz Beats stated that at a time when the genre was not yet popular in the US, he was the first to play Wizkid’s songs.

Additionally, he mentioned that he provided Burna Boy with an opportunity to perform in front of an audience in the United States before he gained widespread recognition.

In his words;

“I introduced Wizkid to America. I was the first person to play his song. Me and my wife [Alicia Keys] were on a trip and we danced to his songs.

“I was [also] the first person to bring Burna Boy to the States. I introduced him on the stage. When I was playing Fela Kuti, people thought I was being too African.

“And that how ignorant the energy was at that time. But I didn’t let that stop me from moving what I’m moving because it’s what it’s. It’s about education.

We [Americans] can’t be scared of the educational journey of something that sounds different or feels different,” he stated.

My Dad Bankrolled Me When I Was With Wizkid’s Starboy Records – Singer, L.A.X Reveals

Damilola Afolabi, a Nigerian singer, who is better known as L.A.X has made a revelation.

He revealed that his billionaire dad intervened on his contract with Wizkid’s Starboy record when he was at the label.

The Ginger crooner disclosed this in a recent episode of the Echo Room audiovisual podcast hosted by Quincy Jonze.

According to him, his deal with Starboy Record was a partnership and not a recording deal.

L.A.X explained that his dad provided funds for his musical projects, and then his label boss, Wizkid, channelled the funds to the right marketing means.

He said: “When I took the Wiz’s contract to him, my dad no like all those signing things. He dey always feel like if you dey sign, you dey sign your life. And me, when I’m making business decisions, I make sure I asked him first. So, I went to meet him and said, “Daddy this is contract, Wiz wants to sign me.” And he was just like, why not let us do [a] partnership?

“He was like, partnership will be better for you and for him [Wizkid]. Once you guys just partner on that level, so you’re free to, like, do your own thing after. So, that’s what we did.”

He continued: “The thing about music is that bag [funds] is important. This is the truth, my popsy [dad] dey give me bags. But there is one thing that Wiz always does―he dey spend the bags.”

L.A.X added that it was Toyin Lawani who introduced him to Wizkid by playing his songs for him.
