The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the de@th of popular singer Adesina Afeez, also known as Destiny Boy.

The command said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, for detailed investigation.

In a statement obtained by PUNCH Online on Monday, the police public relations officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi said, “The Ogun State Police Command has since commenced investigations into the de@th of Adesina Afeez, aged 22 years, popularly known as Destiny Boy.

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for detailed investigation. One suspect is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing.”

News of Destiny Boy’s de@th broke on Sunday after distressing videos showing his body being conveyed to a mortuary circulated widely on social media, sparking grief and speculation over the cause of his de@th.

In one of the videos, the artiste was seen lying in the back of a vehicle, with cotton wool placed in his nostrils and ears.

An attempt to clarify the circumstances surrounding his passing was later made in a separate video by an unidentified associate, who said the singer had been battling a private health challenge.

“God, I want to do this video before people start saying rubbish about Destiny Boy’s cause of de@th. We all came to this life to write our own history. May God rest his soul. Destiny was nursing a health issue in his body before he d!ed. We tried for him, but he didn’t make it,” the man said.

“I beg you, reform the Nigeria Police” – Speed Darlington begs Tinubu, says ‘everything is not about economy’

Controversial singer Speed Darlington has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to carry out urgent reforms in the Nigeria Police Force, emphasizing the need to protect citizens’ rights beyond economic growth.

In a video shared on Saturday, August 23, the musician urged the President to prioritize police reforms, stressing that leadership is about more than just boosting the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

“Mr. President, before you leave office, whether you secure a second term or not, try your best to improve Nigeria. Everything isn’t about the economy! There is more to leadership than the economy,” he said.

“The Nigerian police is an oppressive agency rooted in human rights violation. As a matter of fact, if they do not violate you, it is as if they are not even doing their job. Please, before you leave office, speak to your Yoruba brother, the IGP.”

The singer recounted his own experience with law enforcement, saying he was detained for two months despite a court order for his release.

I was held for two months after the judge had ordered my release. The FID held me for 2 months. According to my lawyer, the Nigerian law allows only 28 days for investigation. They held me for two months. What is the extra month for? Because they can. If you give them money, they oppress your enemy. I have experienced it,” he added.

Police Secure Conviction Of 21 Foreign Nationals In Abuja Cybercrime Case

The Nigeria Police Force has secured the conviction of 21 foreign nationals linked to a high-profile cybercrime syndicate uncovered in Abuja in November 2024.

Force spokesperson, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the breakthrough followed a major raid carried out on November 3, 2024, at a building in Jahi, Abuja, acting on credible intelligence. The operation — part of a broader cybercrime crackdown — led to the arrest of 130 suspects, including 113 foreign nationals, mainly of Chinese and Malaysian origin, and 17 Nigerian collaborators.

The suspects were accused of engaging in large-scale internet fraud, hacking operations, and other cyber offences deemed a threat to Nigeria’s national security and economic stability.

After months of investigation, bolstered by digital forensic evidence and expert testimonies, the accused were arraigned in court on December 2, 2024. By August 1, 2025, 21 of them had been found guilty and sentenced, while trials for the remaining suspects are still ongoing.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, hailed the convictions as a strong warning to local and international cybercriminals that Nigeria will not be a safe haven for illicit activities.

He reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to intensifying the fight against cybercrime through advanced technology, international collaboration, and thorough investigative work, promising further updates as prosecutions progress.

Police Blame Iyabo Ojo For Stalling Cybercrime Cases Involving Naira Marley, VeryDarkMan, Others

The Nigeria Police National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) has stated that the refusal of Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, to appear in court as a prosecution witness or provide a formal statement as required in cybercrime cases involving her, Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Tonto Dikeh, and VeryDarkMan is stalling the cases.

626Blaze reports that the NPF-NCCC made this known in an interview with Vanguard, in response to questions regarding accusations and counter-accusations made by the celebrities on social media.

The NFF-NCCC reiterated its commitment to impartial investigations, due process, and the protection of all citizens’ rights and urged all parties involved to cooperate fully with ongoing legal proceedings.

It said, “The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating two separate cybercrime cases and prosecution:

“The first one, Cyberstalking Case Involving Naira Marley, Sam Larry & Iyabo Ojo.

“Following a duly approved petition submitted by Mr. Azeez Fashola (aka Naira Marley) and Mr. Balogun Olamilekan Eletu (aka Sam Larry), the NPF-NCCC commenced an investigation into allegations of cyberbullying and cyberstalking against actress Iyabo Ojo.

“The petitioners alleged that Ms Ojo made unsubstantiated claims via social media and interviews linking them to the death of the late artist, Ilerioluwa Aloba (aka Mohbad).

“Ms. Ojo was invited for questioning and granted administrative bail.

“Upon conclusion of investigations, the matter was formally charged to court in accordance with the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act, 2024 amended.

“The second one, Cyberstalking Case Involving Iyabo Ojo, Tonto Dikeh & VeryDarkMan

“In a separate but related case, the Centre also received a complaint of cyberstalking and cyberbullying filed by Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh against social media personality Mr. Martins Vincent Otse (aka VeryDarkMan).

“The case was investigated and formally charged to court under Charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/149/2024.

“However, despite several formal invitations, Ms. Ojo has failed to appear in court as a prosecution witness or provide a formal statement as required.

“The Centre remains dedicated to ensuring Nigeria’s digital space is governed by truth, accountability, and the rule of law.”
