Police To Commence Physical Screening Of Constables On January 8

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has slated January 8, 2024, as the start date for the physical and credentials screening of applicants vying for the position of Police Constables in both the General Duty and Specialist Cadres.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by its spokesperson, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, on Sunday.

The screening exercise will be held nationwide from January 8 to 24, 2024.

Shortlisted applicants are mandated to present the following items at the venues of the screening exercise: Evidence of physical/mental fitness from a government recognised medical hospital, evidence of good character from each village/district head of applicants, and original and duplicates of certificate of origin duly signed by the Local Government Chairman or Secretary.

Applicants are also expected to present original and duplicates of National Identity Card/slip, original and duplicates of ‘O’ level result(s), birth certificate/declaration of age, print-out of application form, duly completed guarantor’s form and invitation slips.

The statement warned the general public, especially the applicants, to desist from any criminal act such as falsification or forgery of documents to be tendered for screening, as offenders will be arrested and prosecuted.

It emphasised that the application and selection process is free, and will be carried out through official channels and that unscrupulous activities should be promptly reported to the authorities for necessary action.

The statement assured that the Police Recruitment Board comprises dedicated and disciplined individuals who will ensure a transparent and merit-based recruitment process devoid of corrupt practices.

Recall that it was earlier reported on Friday how The Nigerian Police Force, in a press statement by its spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi claimed that it had apprehended three persons alleged to be behind Gistlover.

The arrest was said to be made by the National Cybercrime Center of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The statement also identified the suspects as followed: Adebukola Kolapo, Nnedum Micheal Somtomchukwu and Isaac Akpokighe, all males of ages 27, 25 and 30.

The suspects were arrested in connection with a case of alleged conspiracy, cyberstalking, and threat to life.

The statement added that the trio were arrested for “cyberstalking, incitement, blackmail, and sundry, which has over the years been a cause for public outcry.”

Police Arrest Six Members Of Criminal Syndicate For Armed Robbery And R*pe Of 23-year-old Student In Bauchi

Six members of a criminal gang causing havoc in Anguwan Kusu, in the Yelwa area of Bauchi state, have been arrested by the police.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, said one of the suspects confessed to have r*ped a 23-year-old polytechnic student during a robbery attack at Peace Palace lodge in the Gwallameji area.

“On 25th December 2023 at about 0106hr detectives attached to E Divisional Police Headquarters Yelwa area led by the (DPO) Divisional Police Officer SP Yahaya Yunusa on a tip-off information swiftly swung into action and arrested the suspected syndicate of armed robbers,” the statement read.

The suspects are; Abdulgaffar Abdullahi ‘m’ 20yrs aka jijiya of Sabon gida yelwa, Ahmed Abdulkadir ‘m’ 19yrs aka kurumbo of unguwan kusu, Zakaria Saidu ‘m’ 21yrs aka verati of yelwan lebura, Umar Abdullahi ‘m’ 18yrs aka yahoo boy of Yelwan Lebura, Musa Saidu ‘m’ 19yrs aka baba eru of Sabongida and Musa Mohammed ‘m’ aka the boy of gwallameji.

The accused confessed to have conspired with the following persons; Ibrahim Danlami ‘m’ aka gambu of sabongida, Abdulrahman Haladu ‘m’ aka kyalli of unguwan kusu, Sirajo Hassan ‘m’ aka ciwo of sabongida, Ado Hassan ‘m’ aka babba of sabongida, Guntu fari ‘m’ of Birshin Fulani, all at large, armed themselves with matchet and touch-lights invaded two separate houses of one Victor Amos ‘m’ aged 41yrs of Unguwan kashu and Dorcas Denis ‘f’ aged 25yrs of Sabongida.

They carted away the following items; one LG TV ’32’ flat screen, one Samsung galaxy a51, and one Itel keypad.

“During interrogation, the fourth suspect Umar Abdullahi confessed to have raped Peace (not real name) ‘f’ aged 23yrs a student of Federal Polytechnic during the armed robbery attack at peace palace lodge in the Gwallameji area of Bauchi sometime within the month precisely on 9th December 2023, where the accused invaded the victims lodge r*pe her and robbed her infinix hot 8 mobile,”

“Additionally, all the suspects further confessed to have been responsible for terrorizing communities around Gwallameji, Rafin Zurfi, Unguwan Kasu, and Millennium quarters in Yelwa area Bauchi,”

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include; one LG ’32’ flat screen, one dagger, three torch lights, three machetes, one Itel keypad phone, the sum of five thousand nine hundred and ten naira (N5910).

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad psc, directed that the accused be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation, after which the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

“Finally, members of the public are enjoined to cooperate with the Police as the Command is firm in discharging its statutory duties and ensure that Bauchi State citizens sleep with their two eyes closed.”

Covering Your Number Plates Criminal Offence – Police Warns Motorists

The Nigeria Police Force has reiterated that it is a criminal offence for motorists to cover their number plates without valid reasons.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement via his X handle on Friday.

He said it is mandatory to make registration numbers visible at all times.

Adejobi said, “It is a common thing to see many vehicle owners and drivers cover their number plates, for no reason, this is wrong and even criminal.

“You don’t cover your number plate for any reason. It is important and compulsory for all vehicles to be duly registered, so it’s compulsory to make reg. numbers visible at all times.”

According to him, there are exceptions for “pennant officers” and heads of the three arms of the government, executive, legislative, and judiciary, who use pennants or flags on their official cars.

Adejobi said, “The seal of their offices or ranks (for military or police) go with their numbers and pennants. Once its 6pm, the pennant must go down and their numbers covered, or when they are not in the car while the drivers move their cars.”

The police had severally placed a ban on the unauthorised use of unmarked vehicles and covered number plates across the country.

Police Neutralize Two Suspected Cultists In Rivers

Ahoada East Local Government Area on Sunday morning.

According to the command, the cultists are gang members of a wanted kingpin, David Gift, aka 2-Baba who allegedly butchered the Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada, SP Bako Angbanshin, in September 2023.

The spokesperson for the command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the development in a statement released in Port Harcourt on Monday.

She said the feat followed credible intelligence on the suspects’ operations.

The statement read, “Operatives of Ahoadai Police station received a distress call around 1 am on Sunday, November 12, 2023, that some suspected cultists loyal to wanted David Gift aka 2Baba invaded Odiemerenyi community in search of suspected police informants.

“The police division, on receipt of the information, swung into action and mobilised with other tactical units to the scene.

“On getting to the community, the hoodlums who, unfortunately, had killed five natives before the arrival of the police opened fire on sighting the police.

“The hoodlums were, however, overpowered by the superior firepower of the police as two of the suspected cultists were fatally wounded.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has ordered the Ahoada Police Division and other tactical units to redouble efforts to ensure David Gift and other fleeing suspects are arrested.

“The CP calls on residents of the community and other communities in Ahoada East to go about their legitimate business as adequate security is in place to counter any security challenges that may be instigated by criminal elements.

“The CP also condoled with the families of natives who lost their lives in the attack.”

Lady Allegedly Destroys Uber Driver’s Car Because Of Faulty Air Conditioner, Attacks Security Agents Who Came In To Intervene (Video)

A Nigerian woman who is yet to be identified, has been arrested in Lagos state for her alleged reckless behavior.

She was nabbed for allegedly destroying the car of an Uber driver whose car she and her friend rode in.

In a video making the rounds, a man who filmed alleged that the young lady destroyed the windshield of the Uber driver’s car and also destroyed his driver’s side window.

The lady could be seen on the ground holding the security agents who came in to intervene. When asked to get into the vehicle so they could take her to the Maroko police station where she would file her complaint, the lady refused and was practically forced into the vehicle by the security agents.

The man who recorded the video alleged the young lady was under the influence of drugs.

Three Islamic Clerics Arrested For Allegedly Beheading Man In Ibadan

The Oyo State Criminal Investigation Department have arrested three Islamic clerics for allegedly beheading a middle-aged man.

The victim who was working for one of the victims, was reportedly lured to a bush at Moniya in Akinyele Local Government Area of the state under the pretext of being awarded a job. He was however killed in the bush.

The suspects were later arrested at Apete in the Ido Local Government Area of the state. It was further gathered that one of the suspects is a popular cleric known for his distinct turban among the Islamic community of Alapata.

The case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku for further investigation.

Policewoman Among Seven People Killed In Deadly Benue Bank Robbery

In what will come across as a really heartbreaking development, a policewoman identified as Emmanuella Ankyov, has died in Benue.

She was among seven people killed during a robbery incident in Otukpo area of Benue State.

The suspected robbers were said to have stormed the Otukpo town at about 3:10 pm and operated for more than one hour.

According to an eyewitness, the robbers first attacked the Otukpo Police State and disarmed all the policemen before carrying out the robbery in banks, shooting indiscriminately.

The location of the banks which is very close to the major market in Otukpo, caused a huge stir in the town as traders were seen running for their lives.

The eyewitness said the robbers used two Hilux vehicles and one other smaller car to carry out the robbery.

Meanwhile, friends, family members and colleagues have taken to Facebook to mourn the deceased officer.

Police Arrest 298 Criminal Suspects In Jigawa

298 criminal suspects have been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command in the third quarter of 2023.

This was contained in a statement by the Spokesman for the Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu, on Wednesday in Dutse.

He said the Police recovered 64 rustled animals, firearms and rescued six kidnapped victims in special operations conducted within the period under review.

Shiisu said the suspects were apprehended for alleged robbery; kidnapping, murder, r*pe, vandalism, animal rustling, and fraud, among others.

He listed the suspects to include 25 robbers; 12 kidnappers, 36 murderers, 25 rapists, 37 thieves, 15 vandals, 17 animal rustlers and five fraudsters, while 126 others were arrested for allegedly belonging to a gang of brigands.

The Police, he said, recovered one AK-47 riffle; one Beretta pistol, three locally-made guns, 48 live ammunitions, 20 motor vehicles/cycles, and 64 rustled animals.

Other items recovered include 560 parcels of Cannabis Sativa and a number of narcotic substances.

“The crime prevention strategies adopted by Jigawa Police Command in the ongoing fight against all forms of crimes and criminalities in the state during the period under review, yielded dividends, as the state remained generally peaceful as residents go about their lawful businesses without fear of molestation.

“This feat was made possible by the proactive measures put in place by the command, whose personnel worked tirelessly to checkmate the activities of criminals for a peaceful atmosphere,” he said.

He commended the acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbeyokun, the Jigawa government and other security agencies for their support of the Command.

While reiterating the commitment of the command to protect lives and property, Shiisu urged residents of the state to support the Police in the fight against crimes.

Nigerian Police Arrest Suspected Trafficker, Rescue Newborns In Rivers

A suspected child trafficker identified as Peace Effiong, has been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command.

She was arrested with two newborn twins along the Rumuikini-Choba axis of the East-West Road in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

The State Commissioner of Police, Emeke Nwonyi, disclosed this in Port Harcourt, on Friday, adding that the command’s anti-cultism unit intercepted a Toyota Sienna carrying occupants with suspicious behaviour in the area.

Nwonyi said, “Operatives of Anti-Cultism Unit conducted a vital operation on Thursday, 5th of October, 2023. While on intensive patrol along Rumuekini – Choba, East-West Road, Port Harcourt, they intercepted a Toyota Sienna carrying occupants with suspicious behavior.

“Upon conducting a search, we discovered twin babies, a male, and a female, both approximately two days old, in the company of one Peace Effiong. However, Effiong could not provide a satisfactory account of the babies’ origin. Her alleged husband, an unknown man, fled, abandoning one of the babies.

“Effiong confessed to being introduced by a friend in Lagos to procure these newborn babies in Port Harcourt for the sum of N2.8 million. We have initiated an investigation to apprehend other suspects involved.”

The CP added that five suspected armed robbers were nabbed along the D/Line axis of Port Harcourt when his men raided a criminal hideout, noting that the policemen on approaching the Aba Road end leading to D/Line intercepted the suspects while others fled, abandoning a revolver pistol with three loaded ammunition.

“On 12/10/2023 at about 2300hrs, Operatives of Olu-Obasanjo division raided a criminal hideout within D/Line, CFC bus stop axis.

“While approaching Aba Road intercepted five suspects while others took to their heels and abandoned one revolver pistol with three loaded ammunition. The suspects are undergoing interrogation, meanwhile, an investigation is ongoing,” he added.
