“We make music for fun, no competition” – Davido’s friend, Cubana Chief Priest

Davido’s close friend and socialite, Cubana Chief Priest, has shut down claims of competing with anyone in the music industry.

Speaking during an appearance in France alongside members of the 30BG crew, Cubana Chief Priest emphasized their focus on positivity and success without engaging in rivalries.

He emphasized the singer’s success and crew, clarifying misconceptions about competing with any Afrobeats counterparts for money.

In his remarks, he stated, “We make music, no toxicity. We are just living it; we no follow una drag anything o. We don’t need money, bro, we’ve got a lot.”

Fans and commentators have praised the sentiment, with many interpreting it as a subtle message amid the industry’s frequent comparisons and feuds.

Cubana Chief Priest’s declaration aligns with Davido’s long-standing approach of uplifting others and promoting unity within his circle, reinforcing the group’s reputation for loyalty and good vibes.

It is worth noting that Afrobeat star, Wizkid has since been on a rampage on X (formerly Twitter), ranting about his opposition. In a series of now-deleted posts, Wizkid had wished for his opposition to die.

Bobrisky Loses N200m, N1b Lawsuit Against EFCC, National Assembly

A Federal High Court in Lagos State has dismissed a fundamental rights suit filed by crossdresser Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, also known as Bobrisky, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Recall that Bobrisky had sought N200 million from the EFCC for psychotic trauma and demanded N1 billion from the National Assembly for the violation of his right to a fair hearing.

The crossdresser also asked the court to restrain the EFCC and the National Assembly from harassing, detaining, or declaring him wanted.

Bobrisky has been embroiled in controversy after social media influencer Martins Otse leaked an audio recording alleging that he paid the EFCC N15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.

Justice Alexander Owoeye, while delivering judgement on the case, held that Bobrisky’s claims of rights violations lacked merit and were unsupported by credible evidence.

The EFCC’s spokesman, Dele Oyewale, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

“Having evaluated the evidence placed before this Court by the Applicant, it is evident that the Applicant has failed to provide credible evidence to justify the award of the declaratory and injunctive reliefs sought by him.

“I hold that the claims of violation of fundamental rights against the 1st and 2nd Respondents were not made out of the affidavit evidence placed before this Court.

“The Applicant’s claims against the 1st and 2nd Respondents lack merit and are accordingly dismissed,” the judge ruled.

Justice Owoeye also refused to award damages against the EFCC.

Singer, Skales Blasts Artistes Who Ignore Local Media

Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, the famous Nigerian singer, who is popularly known as Skales, has slammed his colleagues who ignore the local media.

In recent years, established Nigerian artists have been ditching local media houses for foreign platforms.

Reacting to the ugly trend on the latest episode of the ‘Listen’ podcast, Skales described the actions of those who ignored the local media as “crazy.”

He said, “Any artiste that ignores the local media is really crazy because this is our own. Tearing down our own to go build foreigners’ own. Foreigners that don’t care about us.

“Whether my colleagues like it or not, the local media contributed to their growth. If they didn’t help them, the foreign media they are running to today wouldn’t have known them.”

He also said some of his colleagues who are now publicly ditching afrobeats after benefiting from the genre are “ungrateful.”

Skales added, “our artists need to be careful not to tear down what built us because we are trying to impress the world.”

That’s to show you that he probably had me in mind. He said I wear fake jewellery. That time, I wasn’t the one replying, it was my ex-girlfriend.

They are going to say I am envious of Wizkid’s success. And that was the story that was going round. I sat down recently and said, ‘This guy [Wizkid] really don’t like me.’ I have tried to make peace with him but he was adamant. He didn’t like me, I can tell you for a fact.”
