President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (Rtd), are set to headline the public presentation of the long-awaited autobiography of former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Rtd), scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in Abuja.

The event will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre and is expected to bring together top government officials, military veterans, diplomats, and dignitaries from across the country.

President Tinubu will serve as the special guest of honour, while Gen. Danjuma, former Chief of Army Staff and one-time Minister of Defence, will perform the official unveiling of the book.

The 881-page autobiography, published by Havilah Group, offers a personal account of Gen. Gowon’s life, leadership journey, and reflections on pivotal moments in Nigeria’s history, most notably the 30-month civil war that lasted from 1967 to 1970.

Born in 1934, Gowon assumed the role of Head of State and Commander-in-Chief on August 1, 1966, and held the position for nine years.

His post-service contributions include founding the “Nigeria Prays” movement and championing advocacy efforts against guinea worm, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria through the Yakubu Gowon Centre.

He also serves as Nigeria’s National Goodwill Ambassador for the control of viral hepatitis.

Genevieve Nnaji Returns to Screen in BBC Drama Series Wahala

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Genevieve Nnaji is set to make a highly anticipated return to the screen in a new drama series titled Wahala, produced by BBC Studios.

The six-part thriller, adapted from a work by BAFTA-nominated writer Theresa Ikoko, will be available for streaming on BBC iPlayer and will also air on BBC One.

BBC announced the casting on Tuesday, revealing a female-led ensemble that includes Adelayo Adedayo, Deborah Ayorinde, Cush Jumbo, and Susan Wokoma, alongside Nnaji.

Based on Nikki May’s debut novel, the series follows four Nigerian-British women as they navigate the complexities of friendship, careers, romance, and family life in contemporary London, while grappling with dark secrets from their past.

The central storyline revolves around three close friends Simi, Boo, and Ronke, played by Adedayo, Jumbo, and Wokoma respectively — whose bond is thrown into turmoil by the arrival of a fourth woman, Isobel, portrayed by Ayorinde.

The drama is described as an exploration of betrayal, buried truths, and the consequences of long-concealed secrets.

Nnaji expressed enthusiasm about joining the project, describing it as an intriguing story and praising the caliber of the team involved.

The role marks one of Nnaji’s most significant acting engagements in recent years.

Her last major project was Lionheart, her directorial debut, which premiered internationally in 2018 and subsequently streamed on Netflix in January 2019.

Widely regarded as one of Nollywood’s most influential figures, Nnaji has maintained a relatively low public profile in the years since, making her return to the screen a much-anticipated moment for fans.

The title Wahala, which translates to “trouble” in Nigerian Pidgin, is being produced by Firebird Pictures, a company under the BBC Studios umbrella.

LeBron James Sparks Retirement Fears After Lakers Playoff Humiliation

LeBron James has said he needs time to reflect on his future after the Los Angeles Lakers were swept out of the NBA playoffs by Oklahoma City on Monday in what could potentially prove to be the final game of his storied career.

The 41-year-old put in a characteristically strong performance, finishing with 24 points and 12 rebounds, but it was not enough to prevent the Lakers from going down 115-110 as the Thunder sealed a 4-0 sweep in the Western Conference semi-finals.

With his contract now expired, James enters the offseason as a free agent amid significant uncertainty about what lies ahead. Various reports have pointed in different directions some suggesting he is prepared to sign an extension with the Lakers for a 24th NBA season, while others indicate he may explore other options or contemplate retirement.

James was guarded when asked about his plans after the loss in Los Angeles, which was watched courtside by a string of Hollywood celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Eddie Murphy. He acknowledged having no clear answer about his future, stating that he intends to step back, reconnect with his family, and make a decision when the time is right.

He suggested that a key factor in his decision would be whether he still feels genuinely committed to the demanding preparation that elite-level basketball requires, including the hours of work put in before each game.

Despite the uncertainty, James made clear that he has no sense of unfinished business in the league, having achieved virtually everything the sport has to offer. He noted that his primary remaining motivation would be the pursuit of more championships.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma City, the reigning NBA champions, turn their attention to the Western Conference finals, where they await the winner of the series between the San Antonio Spurs and the Minnesota Timberwolves, currently tied at 2-2.

Oklahoma City will head into the next round brimming with confidence, having now swept both Phoenix in the first round and the Lakers in the second, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander top-scoring against Los Angeles with an impressive 35 points.

Mitchell sparks Cavs

In the Eastern Conference semi-finals, Donovan Mitchell delivered a historic second-half performance to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 112-103 victory over the Detroit Pistons, levelling their series at 2-2.

Mitchell was virtually unstoppable after the break, erupting for 39 points in the second half alone and finishing the game with 43 points, five rebounds and two assists. James Harden chipped in with 24 points as Cleveland squared the best-of-seven series before a packed Rocket Arena crowd.

The win marked the third straight game in which Mitchell had scored 30 or more points, a run of form that has helped the Cavaliers claw back from a 0-2 deficit. His 39-point second-half haul also equalled the NBA postseason record for most points scored in a single half, a mark first set by Golden State’s Eric Floyd back in 1987.

Mitchell admitted to apologising to his teammates at halftime following a below-par first-half display, saying he took personal responsibility and challenged himself to make a statement after the break.

Detroit had appeared on course to take a commanding 3-1 series lead, holding a 56-52 advantage at halftime. However, Mitchell took complete control in the third quarter, pouring in 21 points as Cleveland went on a stunning 25-0 run to flip the game entirely, surging into a 75-58 lead that ultimately proved the turning point.

The series now shifts back to Detroit for Game 5 on Wednesday.

Don Jazzy Reveals How Living Together Helped Mo’Hits Stars Create Hit Songs

Renowned Nigerian music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has expressed the view that Afrobeats artists and producers created their best work during the era when they lived together in record label houses equipped with studios and shared facilities.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Crea8torium podcast, Don Jazzy shared a behind-the-scenes account of how a spontaneous moment at the Mo’Hits mansion gave birth to D’Banj’s hit song “Olorun Maje.”

He recalled that the song’s idea originated from D’Prince and their manager at the time, Sunday Are, following a minor disagreement over D’Prince’s reluctance to attend radio interviews.

According to Don Jazzy, Sunday Are came to report the issue to him, but he was too engrossed in studio work to pay attention and directed him to D’Banj instead.

After D’Banj confronted D’Prince over the matter, D’Prince returned to the studio and, in a seemingly casual moment, began humming a melody that perfectly matched the beat Don Jazzy was working on at the time.

Recognizing the magic in that moment, Don Jazzy urged him to hold on, and the song was born from there. He also recalled that another track, “You Bad, You Want It,” came about in a similarly spontaneous fashion when Dr. Sid walked into the studio and began freestyling over a beat he was creating.

Don Jazzy acknowledged that the music creation process today is quite different from what it was during his era.

He noted, however, that his own approach has remained unchanged, as he still enters the studio with a specific artist in mind when crafting a beat.

He concluded by encouraging the new generation of creatives to spend more time in each other’s company, as doing so helps build greater synergy and cohesion in their work.

Ilebaye’s Father Breaks Silence After Viral Assault Video, Explains Why He Beat BBNaija Star

The father of former Big Brother Naija winner Ilebaye, Mr. Odinia Emmanuel Godson, has publicly addressed the circumstances that reportedly led to his physical assault of his daughter.

In a confession video that has since gone viral, shared by a journalist on Facebook, Mr. Godson offered his account of events. He acknowledged the widespread public reaction to the incident, both supportive and critical, and expressed gratitude to Nigerians at home and abroad for their responses.

He insisted that his actions were not born out of a lack of love for his daughter, pointing to the quality of education he provided her as evidence of his devotion. He described her as one of his best children.

Mr. Godson recalled that when Ilebaye expressed interest in participating in the Big Brother Naija show, he supported her and even mobilized his network of contacts within and outside Nigeria to vote for her during her second appearance on the show in 2023.

He claimed that his personal efforts accounted for over 75 percent of her support, which he credited as instrumental to her eventual victory.

However, he expressed disappointment that after her win, his expectations of her were not met. He explained that in his culture, a parent is expected to correct a child before the situation deteriorates, but lamented that Ilebaye had become increasingly unwilling to heed his guidance.

This comes after DAILY POST had earlier reported that Ilebaye took to Instagram Live in the early hours of Friday to appeal to the public for help, alleging domestic violence and physical assault.

She appeared on the livestream with a visibly swollen face, crying and screaming for help, while a man believed to be her father was allegedly seen assaulting her in the background.

8 Players Quietly Having Incredible Seasons

Every football season creates new stars and big headlines, but some players still manage to fly under the radar despite performing at a very high level. Anyone regularly following mobile soccer live scores across Europe has probably noticed a few footballers quietly becoming some of the most important players for their clubs this season. Here are eight names that deserve a lot more recognition than they usually get.

1. Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa

Ollie Watkins just keeps proving why he’s one of the most dependable strikers in the Premier League. Week in, week out, the Aston Villa forward chips in with goals, assists, clever movement and endless energy. Working under Unai Emery, he’s turned into a proper all-round striker, the kind who can run a game even when he’s not on the scoresheet. His consistency has been a massive part of Villa’s success this season.

2. Florian Wirtz – Liverpool

Florian Wirtz has already shown why Liverpool pushed so hard to bring him to Anfield. The German midfielder remains one of the most creative young players in world football, and his technical quality immediately added another dimension to Liverpool’s attack. Wirtz plays with calmness and intelligence far beyond his age. His movement between the lines, passing, and ability to create chances make him dangerous in almost every attacking situation.

3. Cole Palmer – Chelsea

Chelsea’s inconsistent season has hidden just how impressive Cole Palmer has been. Since arriving from Manchester City, the young English attacker quickly became one of Chelsea’s most important players. Palmer continues delivering goals and assists while playing with confidence and maturity far beyond his age. Even during difficult moments for Chelsea, he usually looks like the player most capable of changing games.

4. Artem Dovbyk – Roma

Artem Dovbyk settled into life at Roma much quicker than many fans expected. The Ukrainian forward has given the team a reliable attacking option with his smart positioning, physical strength, and ability to score important goals in difficult moments. While most headlines in Italy usually focus on bigger stars, Dovbyk has quietly put together a very solid season and continues proving his value almost every week.

5. Antoine Griezmann – Atlético Madrid

Antoine Griezmann is still one of the most complete attacking players in Europe, even if he doesn’t grab the headlines like he used to. The Atlético Madrid forward keeps delivering goals, assists and leadership, quietly influencing games with his vast experience and sharp football intelligence. Season after season, he proves how valuable consistency can be at the highest level.

6. Jeremie Frimpong – Liverpool

Jeremie Frimpong has quickly brought pace and energy to Liverpool’s right side since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen. His speed, attacking movement, and ability to create dangerous moments make him one of the most exciting wing-backs in the Premier League right now.

Frimpong brings exactly the kind of explosive pace and energy that can instantly shift the tempo of Liverpool’s attack. Defenders really struggle to handle his overlapping runs, especially when he gets room to charge down the right flank. What makes him even more threatening is the confidence he shows on the ball, even in the biggest and most intense matches.

7. João Neves – PSG

João Neves has settled into life at PSG much quicker than most people expected. Despite his young age, the Portuguese midfielder already looks completely at home in big matches, bringing composure, energy, and clever passing that really help the team. Playing in a squad filled with global stars means players like Neves do not always receive much attention. Still, he continues showing impressive maturity every time he steps onto the pitch and has quietly become a very important part of PSG’s midfield this season.

8. Dominik Szoboszlai – Liverpool

Dominik Szoboszlai settled into Liverpool’s system almost instantly after joining the club. His energy in midfield, creative passing, and ability to cover huge areas of the pitch quickly made him a valuable player for the team. Although injuries slowed him down at times this season, Liverpool always looked sharper and more creative whenever he was on the pitch. Szoboszlai brings real energy, confidence and attacking quality that just fits perfectly with the fast, intense style of Liverpool’s football.

Football Is About More Than Headlines

Not every player needs to be the center of attention to make a difference. Some footballers simply go out every week, do their job at a high level, and become incredibly important for their teams without creating huge headlines around themselves. Fans following today football scores and watching Europe’s biggest matches closely have probably already seen how valuable these players have been throughout the season.

Cristiano Ronaldo Adds Rare $1.3M Custom Mercedes to Luxury Car Collection

Cristiano Ronaldo is back in the spotlight off the field. This time, it’s for a luxury item that will cement his standing as one of the world’s wealthiest athletes.

The Portuguese star is well-known for not just scoring 971 goals, but also for his luxurious automobiles. He has now added a customized vehicle worth around $1.32 million to his amazing collection, which is widely regarded as one of the most rare on the world.

According to Athlon Sports, it is a modified Mercedes-AMG G63 Cabriolet, an exceptionally rare edition (only 20 units were produced worldwide) that Refined Marques expressly adapted for the soccer star.

It’s a soft-top convertible—unusual for a hefty SUV—with rear doors that open rearward for better access.

Furthermore, it has touches that make it even more unique and meaningful for the Portuguese star: it is painted in yellow and blue, the colors of Al Nassr, and the door sills have engraved plaques with his initials and jersey number “CR7.”

While the normal G-Wagon is already a luxurious car, this version costs almost $1.32 million.

Given the Portuguese star’s wealth, the purchase is unsurprising. After a stellar career at clubs like Manchester United and Real Madrid, where he won several titles, his multi-million-dollar contract with Al Nassr and his personal brand “CR7” have reportedly increased his net worth to about $1.4 billion
