Oyo 2027: Adelabu Dismisses Endorsement Rumours, Says APC Governorship Race Still Open

President Bola Tinubu and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, have not backed any candidates ahead of the 2027 election, according to Bayo Adelabu, an All Progressives Congress candidate for governor in Oyo State.

Shortly after returning from Abuja, Adelabu made this statement on Thursday while speaking to party members and supporters in Ibadan.

He urged party members to ignore rumors that the two had supported a particular candidate.

“President Tinubu has not endorsed any consensus candidate, and the gubernatorial contest is open to anyone who is interested,” Adelabu stated. As Nigeria’s president, Asiwaju is in charge of 36 states as well as the Federal Capital Territory. 774 local governments have him as their president. He is in charge of about 3,000 wards. He will therefore not support or have a particular interest in anyone.

He noted that party stakeholders had been encouraged by the President to either have primaries or come to an agreement.

He stated, “He (Tinubu) said we should all go and meet as a party, reach consensus among ourselves as a party with critical stakeholders on the ground, and if we can’t reach consensus, we go for a direct primary.”

Adelabu rejected reports that the Olubadan had supported a certain candidate.

“I consider the allegation about Olubadan supporting a candidate to be a rumor, and I don’t think it’s true. He declared, “Olubadan is the father of everybody, regardless of status or political allegiance.

Adelabu recently resigned as Minister of Power to pursue his goal of becoming the state’s governor, according to The PUNCH.

Speaking about his aspirations, he asked locals to back him and pledged inclusive administration if he was elected.

He said, “My goal in running for governor of Oyo in 2027 is to serve the general public, not to enrich myself, favor, or benefit APC members.” The poor, underprivileged, women, young people, indigenous people, and state citizens in general will all benefit from my administration.

“For nearly three decades, Kwara North has stood loyal to our state, yet its time to lead has not come,” Mahmud said. “I have championed this cause because fairness and unity drive progress. Today, I step aside not in defeat, but in hope and faith that, together under Ambassador Seriki, Kwara will rise to new heights of growth, stability, and shared prosperity.”

Mahmud, also known as Dan’iyan Kaiama, stressed that supporters were consulted and the decision was reached after thorough consideration. He described Seriki as a unifying figure with a track record of youth empowerment, grassroots development, and bridge-building across communities, aligning closely with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

“This is not retreat; it is a rallying call. This is not weakness; it is wisdom. It is a sacrifice for unity and progress,” Mahmud stated, drawing applause from party members and supporters at the event held at an Events Centre on Old Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin.

Additionally, he used the occasion to praise the federal, state, and security agencies, for their response to the recent Woro incident, urging swift action to rescue abducted victims. This development represents a pivotal point in Kwara State’s political landscape in 2027.

David Adeleke, the world-famous Afrobeats star, better known as Davido has reacted to news of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s, sudden resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Earlier, 626Blaze reported that Governor Adeleke officially resigned from the PDP on November 4, 2025, though the news only came to light on Monday night.

The resignation letter, later shared online by his aide Olawale Rasheed, revealed that the governor stepped down because of ongoing issues within the party at the national level.

In the letter addressed to his Ward 2 chairman in Ede North, Adeleke acknowledged the party’s support during his rise from senator to governor but said the unresolved disputes made it impossible for him to continue.

Reacting, Davido wrote on his X page: “Jeje… ”

The announcement has thrown plans for the Osun 2026 governorship primary into uncertainty.

The state PDP announced a postponement of the primary due to internal disagreements, while the party’s National Working Committee insisted the exercise should proceed.

Governor Adeleke remains the only candidate who purchased the form, adding to the confusion.

Speculation is now rife that Adeleke may pursue a second term under the Accord Party.

Some aides are reportedly moving into the party and taking key positions in Osun.

Earlier attempts to join the APC were unsuccessful, with party leaders reportedly rejecting his application.

BREAKING: All Enugu Reps Defect To APC

The entire Enugu State caucus in the House of Representatives has officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection was announced on Thursday by the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, who read the lawmakers’ letters of resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party during plenary.

The event was witnessed by the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah.

The defectors said they decided to dump their former political platforms due to what they described as unresolved internal crises threatening the stability of the opposition parties.
After the 2023 general election, the Labour Party won seven of the eight House of Representatives seats in Enugu State, while the PDP secured one.

With this development, the APC now controls the entire Enugu caucus in the House of Representatives.

Addressing journalists after their defection, the spokesman of the defectors and member representing Nkanu East/Nkanu West Federal Constituency, Nnolim Nnaji, said their decision was influenced by the need to align with the project-oriented administration of Governor Mbah.

He said, “Just come to Enugu and see what is happening there. The governor is doing a lot for our people. We also want to bring our state to the centre.

“This is not just a political move — it is a bold step into the future! A step borne out of courage, clarity, and our shared determination to reposition Nkanu East and West for greatness.

“For too long, our dear Enugu State has remained in opposition, watching from the sidelines as others shaped the destiny of our nation and accessed opportunities that could have transformed our people’s lives. That era is over! We refuse to remain spectators when we can be key players in Nigeria’s progress.

“By aligning with the APC — the party steering national transformation — we are connecting our constituency to the heartbeat of national development. This alignment will bring more projects, more jobs, better infrastructure, and greater empowerment for our youths, women, and communities.

“This decision wasn’t made on impulse. It comes from deep reflection and a burning desire to see our people rise above limits and take their rightful place in the national spotlight.”

The six defectors at Thursday’s plenary include Martins Oke, Anayo Onwuegbu, Nnamdi Agbo, Nnolim Nnaji, and Mark Obetta.

In a related development, the member representing Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, Daniel Asama, also dumped the Labour Party for the APC.

What Tinubu Told Me Before He Became President – Ben Murray-Bruce

Former senator Ben Murray-Bruce has revealed details of a private conversation he shared with President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

In an interview with TVC News on Friday, Murray-Bruce said the president has fulfilled the promises he made during the conversation.

The former lawmaker said he asked Tinubu, “You are going to have 36 ministers and ministers of state, how are you going to run the economy with over 40 people you don’t even know?”

In response, according to him, the president said, “I only need eight people to run Nigeria”,

The APC chieftain countered opposition figures criticising the current administration, stating that President Tinubu has kept his campaign promises.

“He chose the right people, and they have made a difference to the economy. He also shocked me on the first day in the office when he said he would deregulate and float the currency.

“Two years after my question to him, he did exactly what I asked him to do”,
the former lawmaker said.

The former lawmaker recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
