BBNaija Season 11 Introduces Twist as Week Ends Without Eviction

Organisers of Big Brother Naija Season 11 have announced that this week will be a non-eviction week for housemates.

This comes after Biggie had earlier put up all 23 housemates for possible eviction, with the exception of the Head of House, Chimsom.

The fresh announcement was made on Monday via the show’s official social media page.

According to the update, viewers will instead be asked to vote for one male and one female housemate to take on a new role referred to as “The Gambit.”

Organisers explained that the role carries significant influence within the house and guarantees the chosen housemates a spot in the competition until the season ends.

However, whoever is selected as The Gambit will not be eligible to win the grand prize.

Despite this restriction, the statement noted that housemates given the role will remain full participants, taking part in all tasks, games and activities, and will still be eligible for weekly prizes and other rewards.

The 10-week BBNaija Season 11, themed “Show Ya Sef,” began on Sunday with 24 housemates.

Adeleke Vows Osun Election Result Cannot Be Manipulated

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared that no one will be able to rig or manipulate the outcome of the August 15 governorship election in the state.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Oke-Ila, Ifedayo Local  Government Area, Adeleke assured supporters that every vote cast would count and urged residents to remain vigilant in protecting their ballots.

According to a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the people of the state were fully prepared to defend the integrity of their votes.

He dismissed threats by some politicians to manipulate the results, insisting that Osun’s votes remain untouchable given the state’s standing as the heart of the Yoruba nation, and maintained that no one could rig the state out of a fair outcome.

He further stated that the people’s votes would be defended and that their collective will would be reflected in the outcome of the election on August 15.

Adeleke also described Osun people as neither fearful nor cowardly, stressing that they would come out to vote and stand firm in defending those votes.

Oshiomhole Takes Aim at Peter Obi’s 2027 Presidential Ambition

Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has dismissed the presidential ambitions of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Peter Obi, insisting that he cannot become president of Nigeria.

Speaking during a television interview on Monday, Oshiomhole described Obi as a trader whose thinking is limited to short-term calculations.

He argued that traders, by nature, do not engage in long-term projections and are not inclined to consider how situations might unfold over time, noting that their business cycle typically spans no more than three to six months.

According to him, the Peter Obi who once served as Governor of Anambra State is markedly different from the Peter Obi of today, recalling that Obi had previously vowed, out of respect for the memory of the late Odumegwu Ojukwu, never to abandon the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

However, he claimed that almost immediately after leaving office, Obi drifted into political realignment, aligning himself with figures he suggested Ojukwu would never have associated with a reference to his emergence as running mate to Atiku Abubakar.

Oshiomhole further argued that Obi’s lifestyle offers insight into what kind of leader he would be if he became president, which he said would not happen, adding “God willing.”

He contrasted this with what he described as the mindset of a manufacturer, investor or entrepreneur someone who understands the process of building a project from scratch, enduring years of effort to establish a factory, and importing machinery before production can begin.

He claimed that Nigeria’s productive sector had been virtually grounded, alleging that Obi remains unaware of this reality because his focus is on trading.

He said he has told people that Obi’s business, in his view, amounts to exporting jobs and importing unemployment into the country, describing him as a trader who owns a shopping mall.

11 Killed as Fresh Bandit Attacks Force School Closures in Sokoto

At least 11 people have been k!lled in separate b@ndit att@cks on communities in Rabah and Sabon Birni local government areas of Sokoto State, further heightening concerns over the region’s worsening security situation.

The latest att@ck took place on Monday in Maikujera village, Rabah LGA, where seven people lost their lives, including two operatives of the Sokoto Community Guard Corps (SCGC).

Three women were also k!lled in a similar assault in nearby Angamba village.

The incident occurred less than 24 hours after suspected b@ndits, reportedly dressed in military uniforms, att@cked Unguwan Lalle community in Sabon Birni LGA, k!lling four residents and leaving several others injured.

Security sources said the att@ckers stormed Maikujera on more than 30 motorcycles at about 2:30 p.m., opening fire on residents and @bducting an unspecified number of people.

An SCGC operative confirmed that two members of the corps were k!lled while attempting to defend the community, explaining that the community guards were overwhelmed by the sheer number of att@ckers who arrived on over 30 motorcycles.

He further alleged that the corps was working under difficult conditions due to poor logistics, including the absence of armoured vehicles and inadequate ammunition.

A news correspondent, citing a police source, reported that the att@ckers were believed to have entered the area from Bakura in neighbouring Zamfara State.

The b@ndits reportedly attempted to r*stle livestock and opened fire when residents resisted.

Although a military base is located near the community, security personnel reportedly arrived only after the att@ckers had fled into the Bakura forest.

In the earlier att@ck on Unguwan Lalle, residents said about 200 heavily armed b@ndits dressed in military uniforms stormed the village around 8 p.m. on Sunday and remained in the area for nearly six hours, looting homes and shops, r*stling livestock and shooting at villagers who tried to flee.

One resident recalled that the attackers were initially mistaken for soldiers because of their uniforms before they surrounded the village, opened fire and made away with valuables and animals.

The victims were identified as Bilyaminu Wakkala and Danbaki Tulunawa, while the other two were said to be linked to nearby Kongurus village.

Residents also alleged that the att@ckers struck less than an hour after troops who had responded to an earlier security incident had withdrawn from the community.

The spokesperson of the Sokoto State Police Command, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, confirmed the death of a farmer in the area but said details of the Unguwan Lalle att@ck were still being verified.

Sokoto  Government orders closure of schools

Meanwhile, the Sokoto State Government has ordered the closure of all public primary and secondary schools outside the state capital over the deteriorating security situation.

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Prof. Ahmed Ladan Ala, said the decision followed a directive from the Federal Government aimed at protecting students and staff amid rising insecurity, adding that all affected public schools would remain shut until further notice.

Priscilla Ojo Threatens Legal Action Over Wedding Invitation Allegation

Priscilla Ojo, daughter of Nigerian actress and influencer Iyabo Ojo, has warned that she may pursue legal action against Lizzy Anjorin over allegations that she showed up at Soso Soberekon’s wedding uninvited.

Lizzy had claimed that Iyabo Ojo brought her daughter, Priscilla, to the Warri, Delta State wedding without having a formal invitation.

She made the allegation in an online video while reacting to photos of Iyabo Ojo and Priscilla at the event.

Lizzy went further to accuse Iyabo Ojo of attending mainly to collect monetary gifts from dignitaries present, and questioned why she brought her daughter along, claiming other guests did not bring their children to the wedding.

She also threatened legal action against Lizzy while suggesting that the entertainer was not of sound mind. In her words: “I’m not a child.

I am a wife and a mom, and I’m capable of making my own decisions.

BBNaija Season 11 Unveils First Head of House With Shocking Twist

Chimsom Chuka has emerged as the first Head of House in Big Brother Naija Season 11 after topping the opening challenge, while Tram secured a place in the Head of House lounge through a lucky dip, picked Sheba to share it with him, and Abi was named Deputy Head of House.

The contest took place on Monday, the first full day of the season, with male and female housemates competing separately before their overall performances were compared.

Chimsom posted the fastest overall time to clinch the Head of House title.

Under a new twist introduced this season, though, winning the challenge no longer automatically grants access to the Head of House lounge, even though it still comes with immunity from eviction.

Instead, organisers introduced a Lucky Dip Box, which required the new Head of House to randomly draw the name of a fellow housemate who would occupy the exclusive lounge for the week.

Chimsom’s draw produced Tram, granting him lounge access.

Tram was then allowed to pick another housemate to share the space with him and chose Sheba.

Although Tram and Sheba will spend the week in the Head of House lounge, Chimsom’s prize for winning remains eviction immunity along with the leadership powers that come with the position.

Abi, a chef and model from Osun State, placed second overall in the challenge and was announced as Deputy Head of House.

Ahead of entering the house, Chimsom, a 27-year-old pharmacist and actor from Anambra State, had said his greatest asset in the competition would be staying true to himself.

In his pre-show introduction, he expressed hope that viewers would relate to his genuine personality rather than a calculated strategy.

The new twist is one of the standout features of the “Show Ya Sef” edition of the show, effectively separating eviction immunity from residence in the Head of House lounge.

As at the time of this report, housemates were still going through the nomination process ahead of the next phase of the competition.

Tolu Arokodare Breaks Silence After Wolves Training Protest

In the midst of an ongoing transfer dispute with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Super Eagles attacker Tolu Arokodare has explained why he organized a protest that resulted in the cancellation of a preseason training session.

The 25-year-old allegedly sat on the training field and would not move, which prevented the squad from holding its planned session on Monday.

New head coach Cesar Peixoto called off training as a result of the protest, and additional security was put in place at the team’s Compton Park training facility to prevent the Nigerian forward from going back.

Reports indicate that Arokodare had been instructed not to train with Wolves’ first team despite remaining under contract, a decision that reportedly came amid disagreements over his proposed transfer away from the club.

Wolves are said to have accepted an offer from Turkish side Trabzonspor, while Arokodare is believed to favour a move to Italian Serie A outfit Fiorentina.

Breaking his silence in a statement shared on social media on Tuesday, the striker insisted that his actions were driven solely by his desire to keep training and honour his contractual obligations, stating that throughout his career he has always taken pride in conducting himself professionally and maintaining high training standards.

He added that his focus has always been on staying match-fit so he can contribute whenever called upon, stressing that he remains under contract with Wolves and that his only intention is to fulfil his responsibilities professionally by training, doing his job, and contributing to the team in line with that contract.

The standoff comes as Wolves prepare for life in the English Championship following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

Barcelona Sign Karim Adeyemi in Major Attacking Boost

Karim Adeyemi, a forward from Borussia Dortmund, joined Barcelona on Thursday for a reported 29 million euros ($33 million), including possible add-ons.

In a statement, Barcelona announced, “Adeyemi becomes a new Barca player for the next five seasons, until June 30, 2031.”

After spending a lot of money on England international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle, the versatile 24-year-old is Barca’s second acquisition.

After experienced striker Robert Lewandowski left, Barca’s offensive options were strengthened by lightning-fast Adeyemi, who can play up front or on either flank.

Barcelona also parted ways with Marcus Rashford after his loan spell from Manchester United came to an end, leaving the club with reduced attacking options.

The Spanish champions have equally submitted an offer for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, who remains their top target this transfer window.

Notably, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick was the one who handed Adeyemi his first cap for the German national team back in 2021.

The forward moved to Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022, scoring 36 goals in 146 appearances across all competitions over four seasons before completing his switch to Barcelona.
