Dangote Refinery Launches N739/litre Petrol Sale At MRS Stations Nationwide

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has begun the nationwide sale of premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, at ₦739 per litre at all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations.

The refinery said the move marked a major milestone in its effort to make petrol more affordable and stabilise Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.

Dangote refinery stated that with more than 2,000 MRS outlets nationwide, the new pump price is expected to be implemented across all stations, ensuring consumers benefit from the reduction across the country.

In a statement on Sunday, Dangote Refinery said: “We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump.

“We call on others to join this effort as a show of support for Nigeria’s economic recovery.”

The refinery noted that the festive season has historically been associated with fuel scarcity and sharp price increases, but said its intervention had altered the usual trend.

“Dangote Refinery has delivered a decisive market intervention—crashing pump prices at a time when Nigerians typically brace for hardship,” it said.

“Backed by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres, this initiative fundamentally alters the supply dynamics during the holiday period.”

According to the refinery, large-scale local refining is helping Nigeria reduce its exposure to volatile global markets, conserve foreign exchange, stabilise the naira and strengthen energy security.

It added that sustained price moderation and steady supply were already providing relief to households, businesses and transport operators nationwide.

The company, however, warned against attempts by “unscrupulous” operators to create artificial scarcity in response to the price reduction.

“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable,”
the statement read.

The refinery urged regulatory agencies to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during the festive period.

Dangote refinery also called on consumers to avoid buying petrol at inflated prices when cheaper alternatives are available.

“We encourage Nigerians to avoid buying PMS at excessively high prices when they can access locally refined fuel at ₦739 per litre from over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide,”
 it said.

Consumers were advised to report any MRS station selling above the approved price by calling 0800 123 5264.

The refinery urged other petrol station operators to patronise its products so that the benefits of the price reduction could be extended nationwide.

Why Cement Is Cheaper Abroad Than In Nigeria – Dangote

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, has attributed the higher cost of his company’s cement in Nigeria to steep taxes and heavy regulatory burdens, making it more expensive than in international markets.

Dangote said the price difference was largely due to multiple levies and charges imposed on local production.

According to Vanguard, the billionaire industrialist said exporting the product allows his company to avoid several taxes that significantly raise production costs at home.

He said the cumulative effect of taxes, fees and regulatory requirements within Nigeria adds substantially to the final retail price of cement.

He said: “When you look at my invoice, the cement I export is cheaper than the one I’m selling domestically, because that’s how exports work. In export I’m saving a lot of money, I’m not paying 30% income tax, I’m not paying 2%, education, I’m not paying 1% health, I’m not paying 7.5% VAT, and I’m not paying 10% withholding tax.

“So when you reduce all these taxes, I can afford to go and compete with the international market, with the likes of Turkey, Russia, and China.”

The billionaire industrialist has consistently stressed local manufacturing as a means of achieving economic self-sufficiency.

Why I Spoke Out On Attacks Against Christians In Nigeria — Popular Rapper, Nicki Minaj Reveals

American rapper Nicki Minaj has revealed why she chose to speak out publicly on the situation facing Christians in Nigeria, pointing to her personal connections to the country and disturbing reports of attacks on worshippers.

Minaj spoke on the issue during a surprise appearance at AmericaFest, where she responded to questions from the audience.

While answering a question about Nigeria, she said the country holds deep personal significance for her and that reports of attacks on Christians have been deeply distressing.

She revealed that her pastor is a Nigerian and that she has a strong fan base in the country, popularly known as “Nigerian barbs,” noting that these connections made it difficult for her to remain silent.

According to Minaj, reports of kidnappings and killings of Christians during church activities should provoke global concern.

She said, “Nigeria is a place I’ve always loved. Someone very dear to me, my pastor, is Nigerian, and I have lots of Nigerian barbs.

“So hearing that people are being kidnapped while they’re in church, people are being killed, brutalised, all because of their religion that should spark outrage.”

The rapper emphasised that silence only emboldens oppression, declaring that she is no longer willing to stay quiet on matters of faith and persecution. She said.

“We’re not backing down anymore. We are not going to be silenced by the bullies anymore. We will speak up for Christians wherever they are in this world,”
 she said.

Minaj also spoke on the broader issue of religious freedom, pointing out that many people globally do not enjoy the basic right to worship openly.

She warned that such freedoms are often taken for granted in countries where they are protected.

She said, “We take for granted that there, right now in this world, are people who cannot worship God as they please, where they please.

“Every time we pray in fellowship, we have to remember the people that are right now in this world hiding to pray in fellowship, and we have to pray for them.”

Her remarks come weeks after she reacted to a social media post by United States President Donald Trump, who claimed that “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria.”

At the time, Minaj expressed gratitude for the freedom to worship and condemned religious persecution.

She wrote, “Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God. No group should ever be persecuted for practising their religion.”

During the AmericaFest event, Minaj also praised Trump and Vice President JD Vance, saying they understand the concerns of ordinary people.”

“She added that Christians face challenges even in the United States, stressing that leadership is crucial in safeguarding religious freedom.

“Christians have been persecuted right here in our country in different ways. So when we talk about Nigeria and other countries, know that prior administrations saw nothing wrong with that, and that’s what was wrong with them,” she concluded.

Doris Ogala: Verydarkman Threatens To Release Evidence Against Pastor Chris Okafor, Prophet Jeremiah

Controversial Nigerian influencer and social critic, Verydarkman, has pledged to expose what he claims is scandalous evidence involving Pastor Chris Okafor and Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin.

Verydarkman made the threat on Sunday afternoon in a video shared on his Instagram page while reacting to the arrest of actress Doris Ogala.

While calling for Doris’s release before Tuesday, December 23, 2025, Verydarkman vowed to make public alleged criminal evidence against Pastor Chris Okafor of the Grace Nation Bible Ministry and Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin.

Sharing details of his phone conversation with Doris before her arrest, Verydarkman claimed that the actress had already sent all the evidence to him.

“Doris is not as evil as the pastors that use her to cover atrocity, the pastor that manipulated her and promised to buy her a car so that she could do their bidding. These so-called evil men of God hide under the name of Jesus Christ to take advantage of women, girl children, boys, and married women under the name of Jesus Christ.

“Doris is one of the many that have been manipulated by the so called men of God. A lot of women out there have different stories to talk about. Please note that Doris was used; she was an accomplice. Take it from me. Now, to the Nigeria Police, or DSS or whoever that arrested her, I know your plan is because she said she get evidence. Your people’s move is to take the evidence from her, mess her up and then release her later.

“Let me advise you, just let her go. Everything you think is on her phone is with me. So, you better let her go. I give you until Tuesday to let her go. If you don’t let her go, there’s no problem, then we all start. And you know what I do? I go very hard. I’m talking to you, Chris Okafor. I’m talking to you Jeremiah. If by Tuesday I don’t see that lady, hell will be let loose. It will be very, very messy if by Tuesday she’s not out.

“Trust me, I have so much proof. It will be very messy. And guess what? The people can’t do me anything because the EFCC encounter has taught me a lot. I have sent all the evidence to 20 different persons and I will wipe the chats. I will wipe the chats after they have received it. You cannot even know who I sent it to, just in case the police pick me up , they will just be seeing evidence flying right and centre,”
 he stated.

Doris Ogala was arrested on Saturday, December 20, 2025, after calling out the founder of the Grace Nation Bible Ministry, Chris Okafor, over his alleged failure to fulfil a marriage promise to her.

In a series of posts on Instagram, the actress disclosed how she allegedly helped Pastor Chris Okafor and Jeremiah Fufeyin to silence the case of a missing child, Testimony, as well as other criminal cases levelled against them.

EPL: Rogers fires Aston Villa to historic win over depleted Manchester United

Aston Villa extended their remarkable winning run to 10 matches in all competitions with a hard-fought victory over Manchester United at Villa Park, their longest top-flight streak since 1914.

Unai Emery’s side were not at peak performance, but Morgan Rogers once again delivered decisively, underlining Villa’s growing credibility in the title conversation as they closed to within three points of leaders Arsenal.

Rogers delivers when it matters

Villa broke the deadlock just before half-time when Rogers curled a composed finish into the corner, rewarding sustained pressure rather than dominance.

United briefly restored parity just before the break when Matheus Cunha capitalised on a costly error from Matty Cash.

However, Rogers responded again in the second half, cutting inside Leny Yoro and bending a near-identical strike beyond Senne Lammens for his sixth league goal in as many games.

Emery’s animated reaction on the touchline reflected both relief and significance, as Villa secured only their second home league win over United in 27 attempts.

United woes deepen amid mounting injuries

It was a damaging afternoon for United head coach Ruben Amorim, whose squad arrived heavily compromised and left even thinner.

Already missing six senior players due to injury, suspension and Africa Cup of Nations commitments, United were forced into further disruption when Bruno Fernandes suffered what appeared to be a hamstring injury late in the first half.

The captain failed to return after the interval and was seen walking cautiously to the bench, raising concerns over a prolonged absence at a time when United can least afford it.

The situation was compounded by a pre-match withdrawal for Kobbie Mainoo and debuts for teenagers Jack Fletcher and Shea Lacey, underlining the depth of the crisis.

Yamal strikes as Barcelona tighten grip on La Liga summit

Barcelona strengthened their hold on top spot in La Liga with an away win over Villarreal, restoring a four-point lead over Real Madrid and extending their league winning run to eight matches.

Despite not being at their fluent best in the early exchanges, Hansi Flick’s side executed the key moments efficiently to secure maximum points at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

Raphinacapitalises as Villarreal rue missed chances

Villarreal started aggressively and created several early openings, but their failure to convert proved costly.

Against the run of play, Barcelona struck first in the 12th minute when Raphinha calmly converted a penalty after being brought down by Santi Comesana.

The hosts continued to threaten, with Nicolas Pepe and Ayoze Pérez both spurning opportunities, while Raphinha came close to doubling Barca’s lead by rattling the crossbar from distance.

Red card shifts momentum decisively

The match tilted firmly in Barcelona’s favour in the 39th minute when Renato Veiga was sent off for a rash challenge on Lamine Yamal.

Villarreal briefly thought they had equalised before the break, but Jules Koundé’s own goal was ruled out for offside, compounding the hosts’ frustration.

Yamal seals routine victory

With the numerical advantage, Barcelona controlled the tempo after the interval. Yamal delivered the decisive blow in the 63rd minute, reacting quickest to a scramble in the box to poke home his ninth goal of the season.

From there, Barcelona managed the game professionally, limiting Villarreal’s threat and seeing out the contest without alarm.

The result keeps Barcelona firmly in control of the title race heading into the winter break. They return to action against Espanyol on January 3, while Villarreal travel to Elche later the same day.
