On Sunday, a drunk driver allegedly rammed into his car in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

The poor condition of the car at the accident scene caused concern among fans who wondered if Sabinus was okay.

Sabinus posted on his Instagram story to reassure his fans that he was safe and sound.

He also thanked his colleagues and fans for their calls and concern for his well-being.

He wrote, “Safe and sound. Thanks guys for the calls and care.”

Sabinus also advised against drinking and driving on his Instagram page.

“Don’t drink and drive. Stay safe,” he advised.

Sabinus’ accident happened just a week after gospel singer Dunsin Oyekan was involved in a car accident.

Despite the accident, Oyekam stated on his Instagram page on Saturday that he was “perfectly fine.”

“Indeed God is Sweet to Worship,” he wrote on his Instagram page (OLUWADUNSIN). God is my glory, the one who raises my head.”

History.

Rolling Loud is a hip hop music festival that takes place in the United States, Europe, Australia, and Canada. Complex calls it “one of the biggest rap-only festivals in the world,” while Billboard calls it “the be-all of hip-hop festivals.”

An estimated 210,000 people attended the event in Miami in 2019.

Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif, who met in elementary school in Hollywood, Florida, founded the festival in 2015. When they were in high school, they began organizing and promoting parties that “leaned heavily on a mix of Southern and Midwestern rap.” In 2010, they transitioned to professional live music events, beginning with an after-party headlined by Rick Ross. By the summer of 2013, they were hosting monthly events in Miami with emerging artists such as Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar. Before recognizing the need for a genre-specific music festival, the pair promoted artists from Florida’s burgeoning SoundCloud rap scene under the brand name Dope Entertainment.

The first Rolling Loud took place in February 2015 in Miami, Florida, and featured artists such as Schoolboy Q, Juicy J, Currensy, and Action Bronson. It was held at Soho Studios in the city’s Wynwood district, though the venue was temporarily flooded due to rain.

Rolling Loud 2016 was held at the larger Mana Wynwood convention center and featured headlining acts Ty Dolla $ign, Young Thug, and Future.

Rolling Loud relocated to Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami in 2017.

It has been held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens since 2018. The festival also expanded to other cities in 2017, with the inaugural editions of Rolling Loud Bay Area and Rolling loud Southern California.

Rolling Loud Australia in Sydney, Australia, and Rolling Loud NYC were added to the list of host cities in 2019. The same year, they announced Rolling Loud’s first European festival would be held in Portugal in July 2020.

However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, the 2020 festival, which was originally scheduled to take place from May 8 to May 10, has been rescheduled for July 23 to July 25, 2021.

Due to similar circumstances, the European edition in Portugal had to be rescheduled for 2021.

Rolling Loud hosted a post-pandemic festival in Miami in 2021, with over 200,000 attendees. The festival collaborated with WWE and included a Friday Night Smackdown.

Rolling Loud continued to expand into new countries in 2022. Rolling Loud’s first collaboration with a European festival was announced in 2021 as a collaboration with the 2022 edition of Woo-Hah!, which will take place from July 1-3, 2022.

Rolling Loud Portugal took place on July 6-8, 2022, after being postponed in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rolling Loud Toronto is set to take place in Canada on September 9-11, 2022. From March 3-5, 2023, the festival will hold its first California edition at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium.

Ajayi invites Obasanjo, Ooni, and Oluomo to church for thanksgiving.

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo was not only a guest but also a preacher at the Love of Christ Generation Church (Cherubim and Seraphim), Oniru, Lagos, on Sunday, September 4, 2022.

The thanksgiving service, which drew many dignitaries, commemorated the church’s first anniversary as well as Reverend Esther Ajayi’s 15 years in ministry.

Obasanjo cited the Biblical experience of Joseph in prison, who interpreted the dreams of the Pharaoh and some of his top aides, in his sermon titled ‘Given Testimony.’ Obasanjo also told the story of Aaron and Moses, who went to deliver God’s message to King Pharaoh, who turned a deaf ear to the warnings.

The former president also emphasized that there were people who did not know God, such as Pharaoh.

Other dignitaries at the event include the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Chairman of the Parks Management Committee of Lagos State, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, among others.

One of the highlights of the event was when Obasanjo and Oluomo paid obeisance to the Ooni at different times in the church.

Oluomo could also be seen prostrating himself before the former president, before both men hugged each other.

Charles III takes his oaths and ascends to the throne.

During an elaborate ceremony at St James’ Palace in London on Saturday, Charles III swore an oath and was proclaimed king.

The Accession Council formally announced the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Charles III was crowned king shortly after that.

Before the documents were signed, about 200 people gathered in the room all said, “God save the King.”

Flags that were lowered in mourning for the late Queen will be flown at half-mast for a short time, according to the BBC.

In his first address to the nation yesterday, the King pledged to emulate his “darling mama’s” life of service.

The Queen, the United Kingdom’s longest-reigning monarch, died peacefully on Thursday afternoon at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle.

Burna Boy: “I came into the music industry straight from a UK prison.”

Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, a Nigerian music star, has revealed some details about his life before becoming a household name.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, the singer stated that he believed he had a limited life span.

I came into the Music industry straight from Chelmsford HMP. I had no idea I would even live this long,” his tweet read.

Chelmsford prison

He also spoke about his time in prison while living in the United Kingdom.

Unbeknownst to many, the artist spent time in HM Prison Chelmsford before becoming a musician.

Burna Boy, surprisingly, alluded to his prison experience in the song ‘Glory’ from his 2022 album, ‘Love, Damini.’

Burna Boy sings about getting into fights and getting injured in prison in the song, which features the South African male choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

The lyrics went, “I remember when they shipped me from the cans To Chelmsford HMP and my celly had it bad.So I had to have his back, niggas started fightin’. Then they cut me on my hand. So I grabbed one from the back, and I flung him off the landing. You know the screws get extra ruthless when you’re Black.

‘‘Layin’ on my back, now the block’s feelin’ mad. Now I’m in a lab trying to do my best.”

Experience in a prison

The ‘Last Last’ crooner admitted in the tweet that becoming Nigeria’s biggest artiste is not his immediate goal.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to do what he enjoys most while caring for his people.

“Nigeria has never heard of me. I don’t care if I’m the most famous Nigerian artist; I’m just glad I can do what I love and provide for my people.

If you knew half of the things I used to do for money, risking my freedom on a daily basis, you’d be much happier for me.

I came straight from Chelmsford HMP into the music industry. I never imagined I’d live this long.

“Now it’s all just funny when people talk about me. “Of course, I’d perform with my injured leg, or even without legs or arms,” he wrote.

 Chelmsford Prison

Chelmsford HM Prison is a Category B men’s prison and Young Offenders Institution.

It is situated in the English county of Essex, in Chelmsford. The prison is run by Her Majesty’s Prison Service.

It is both a youth prison and a local prison. In 1996, it was expanded.

A Category B prison is used to house those who do not require maximum security but whose escape must be made extremely difficult.

Ex-military chiefs are being investigated for stealing security funds.

According to Bolaji Owasanoye, chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, some former military chiefs are being investigated for fraud (ICPC).

Mr Owasanoye made the revelation while discussing how grand theft of security funds by military chiefs was fueling insecurity across the country.

“At first glance, insecurity appears to be, and is sometimes treated as, a matter requiring only a military response or reaction,” Mr Owasanoye said at a “Policy Dialogue on Corruption and Insecurity in Nigeria” in Abuja on Friday.

Mr Owasanoye stated that “some former military and security personnel are being investigated by ICPC and our sister agency for embezzlement of funds allocated to security,” citing cases of massive looting of funds by military top brass.

“In addition, there are ongoing investigations into military contract spending.” Recently, the ICPC arrested a military contractor who received a total of about N6 billion from the Nigerian Army under suspicious circumstances and in violation of existing legislation over a period of less than ten years.

“The Commission’s recovery of large sums of cash in local and foreign currencies, luxury cars, customized mobile phones, designer watches, including three Rolexes, as well as property documents from the contractor’s premises underscores the corruption that frequently occurs in military procurement,” Mr Owasanoye added.

Mr Owasanoye went on to say that “a former head of one of the military’s arms in the waning days of his tenure deposited N4 billion from the military budget into the accounts of two companies where he is the beneficial owner and sole signatory.”

“The proceeds were used to buy Abuja real estate in the names of cronies and proxies.”

Some of the properties purchased with his service money were also fraudulently converted to his use.

According to the ICPC Chairman, the ICPC’s prosecution of this high-ranking officer to recover all implicated assets was strangely and perversely thwarted by a recently retired High Court judge who decided to forfeit some of the assets to the FGN while leaving the rest to the suspect.

While the Commission has filed an appeal, this unusual development aggravates an already bad situation and increases insecurity and impunity, according to the anti-graft chief.

FG abandons the NPFL’s League Management Company

The Federal Government has condemned its recognition of the League Management Company (LMC) as the Nigeria Professional Football League’s operator (NPFL).

Following the federal government’s declaration of the Shehu Dikko-led League Management Company (LMC) as an illegal body, banning it with immediate effect, a crisis appears to be brewing in Nigerian football.

The federal government also directed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to immediately revoke LMC’s operational license and form an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to oversee the operation of the Nigerian elite league.

The statement, signed by Ismaila Abubakar, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, went on to say that the League should be run by the current Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the LMC until a proper Professional League Board is formed in accordance with the NFF Statutes. This decision was made due to the obvious anomaly (which is contrary to our football statutes or the laws of the land) in which a private company is given the mandate to manage or run the league indefinitely, without the full involvement and leadership of the clubs, and without any process to monitor the game’s progress and development.

“As a result of the foregoing, and in order to save our domestic football from total collapse, the board of the LMC and the LMC as a body will no longer be recognized by the Federal Government as the operator of the Nigerian Professional Football League,” the FG said.

Issuing further order, the federal government noted that; “to avert further chaos in our domestic football, the NFF is advised to immediately withdraw the Licence given to the LMC and, in the meantime, set up an IMC, to include the current Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the LMC to oversee the affairs of the League until a proper Professional League Board is constituted in accordance with the Statutes of the NFF.”

Why is Apple getting rid of physical SIM cards?

The days of performing microsurgery with a paper clip to extract a tiny SIM card from a small tray in your iPhone may be coming to an end.

Apple revealed this week at its closely watched press event that it will no longer use physical SIM cards and trays on its new iPhone 14 lineup in the United States. In its place, the company is adopting eSIMs, a digital alternative.

A SIM card is a unique identifier in every cell phone that allows it to connect to wireless networks and text and call. An eSIM is a “embedded” SIM card, or one that is hardwired into the phone itself. People typically change their SIM cards when switching carrier plans or traveling internationally and wishing to use a different service provider.

Apple first introduced eSIM support on iPhones in 2018, promising that it would make it easier for customers to activate their cellular plans and use multiple phone numbers and carriers on the same device. Apple is now doubling down on this feature by removing the infrastructure required to support physical SIM cards from the iPhone 14.

“With eSIM, you can quickly transfer an existing cellular plan or get a new cellular plan, all digitally,” Apple’s VP of iPhone marketing, Kaiann Drance, said at the event Wednesday.

Drance also emphasized how eSIM cards can make devices “more secure,” noting that “if your iPhone is lost or stolen, someone can’t remove the physical SIM card.”

According to the Federal Communications Commission, eSIMs provide “significant security benefits.” According to the federal agency, some bad actors have been known to steal a physical SIM card and swap it into a different phone to gain access to someone’s information and reset their accounts. Because it “cannot be stolen without stealing the phone,” an eSIM card may reduce this risk.

In theory, removing the SIM card slot could provide another benefit: more room for larger batteries or other phone features. That’s no small feat for a company like Apple, which is constantly striving to make its products thinner.

While the removal of the SIM card slot is not as divisive as Apple’s decision to remove the headphone jack, it has sparked some debate on social media.

Frequent international travelers, in particular, are accustomed to changing physical SIM cards in various locations and may visit locations where carriers do not yet support the use of eSIMs. In mainland China, for example, the iPhone 14 does not currently support eSIM.

Amusan wins the Diamond League trophy and establishes a new record.

Tobi Amusan, a record-holder from Nigeria who finished in 12.29 seconds to successfully retain her Diamond League title, set a new record on Thursday.

At the Diamond League in Zurich this year, she took first place in the women’s 100-meter hurdles.

Following the winner, Kendra Harrison of the United States and Britany Anderson of Jamaica came in second and third, respectively.

At the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the 25-year-old had won the gold medal in the women’s 100-meter hurdles in August.

This came after she ran the hurdles record down in the semifinals of the World Athletic Championship in 12.12 seconds.

With her wind speed display in Eugene, Oregon, Amusan became the first Nigerian to win a gold medal at the championship.

She also ran a 12:57 to defend her African championship title.

Amusan has been a role model for female athletes both at home and abroad.
