I Was Afraid When I Saw The Pot My Daughter Wanted To Use – Hilda Baci’s Mother

Hilda Baci’s mother, Lynda Ndukwe has shared a testimony at Pastor Jerry Eze’s NSPPD online service following her daughter’s latest Guinness World Records feat.
She confessed that she was afraid after setting her eyes on the pot her daughter planned to use for her cooking feat.
Speaking virtually during Pastor Jerry Eze’s NSPPD online morning service on Tuesday, Bassey, who owns Calabar Pot restaurant in Gudu, Abuja, recalled how her daughter told her she wanted to cook a six-metre-wide pot of rice, using 250 bags of basmati.
She said her daughter’s new Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice was achieved through prayer, fasting and God’s mercy, declaring, “What God cannot do does not exist.”

“My daughter said, ‘Mommy, I want to cook the biggest pot of jollof rice.’ When she mentioned 250 bags, I was shaking.

“When she sent me the video of the pot, I said, what kind of rice is this one? That pot was like my office. I was afraid,” she said.
According to her, they immediately embarked on fasting and prayer, seeking God’s hand over the attempt.
“She told me, Mommy, we have to fast all through this week. And we started. I joined NSPPD every morning, prayed all through the night, and put the picture of the event before God.

“I said, Father, what you did before in Amore Garden, do it again in Eko Hotel. A season of good news must not turn to shame,” she testified.

Baci’s mother admitted she feared the giant pot might collapse under the weight of rice, meat and oil.

“Even the cover of that pot, people could not carry it. They had to bring in cranes to lift it. I prayed, Father, this pot I hand over to you.

“It was made by man, but you are God. May it not leak. Because if it leaked, the flame and the gas would catch fire. That would have turned joy to disaster. But God did it,” she said.
She revealed the pot eventually took 200 bags of rice, 20 goats, 30 gallons of oil and large quantities of tomato paste and seasoning.
“That pot swallowed everything. By Saturday it had been carried to the venue. I walked in, touched it, and told God, what I am afraid of will not happen. And it ended in praise,” she said.
Bassey’s mother also narrated how, close to the end of the cooking, her daughter rallied everyone in faith.
“About 40 minutes to go, she came to me and said, ‘Mommy, we need to pray in the Holy Ghost.’ She told the team, ‘This is the first time you people will eat rice that the Holy Ghost will cook.”

“And I smiled. That is the kind of faith she has,” she said.
She added that Guinness officials later weighed the pot with a crane and confirmed the record, without any setback.
Breaking into gratitude, she said, “Guinness has called us. My daughter has broken the record two times. Two times record holder. Who is Hilda? Who is Hilda’s father? Who is Hilda’s mother?

“What is our family name? For us to pull such a crowd, it can only be God.”
The proud mother said the sight of the massive turnout at the venue left her overwhelmed.
“When I saw the crowd, I just said, what God cannot do does not exist. Father, no one will collapse here, no death, no accident, no evil report. And that was how it ended, everything in praise,” she said.

UCL: Mbappé brace secures Real Madrid win over Marseille

Real Madrid have kickstart their UEFA Champions League with a 2-1 win over Marseille at the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday night.

Club star, Kylian Mbappé scored twice from the penalty spot to cancel out Timothy Weah’s opener.

The French forward’s goals ensured Los Blancos avoided an upset against a spirited Marseille side, who played with belief in their first Champions League outing since 2023.

The result, however, was overshadowed by controversy after a late handball call went against the visitors.

Weah strikes first for Marseille

Marseille silenced the home crowd midway through the first half. Mason Greenwood created the opening, slipping a clever pass into the path of Weah, who calmly finished past Thibaut Courtois in the 22nd minute.

The goal sent the 4,000 travelling OM fans into celebration as Roberto De Zerbi’s men took a shock lead.

But Real responded fast. Minutes later, Rodrygo was brought down by Geoffrey Kondogbia inside the box, leaving the referee no choice but to award a penalty.

Mbappé stepped up and converted confidently in the 29th minute to restore parity.

Red card drama and late penalty

The match remained finely balanced after the break, with both sides creating chances. Marseille’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang went close, while Courtois was forced into saves from long range efforts.

The contest took a twist in the 65th minute when Real full-back Dani Carvajal was shown a straight red card for a headbutt on goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli, leaving Madrid with ten men.

Marseille pressed for a winner, but their move was halted by a contentious decision.

In the 81st minute, Facundo Medina was penalised for handball inside the box, despite protests from OM players. Mbappé converted the resulting penalty for his second of the night, giving Madrid the lead.

Marseille fall short despite late push

In the closing stages, Marseille threw men forward in search of an equaliser. Greenwood came closest, blasting over from close range, but Real Madrid held on to secure all three points.

The victory puts Xabi Alonso’s side on course in Group Stage action, while Marseille will be left to rue the chances they couldn’t convert.

Arsenal begin Champions League campaign with hard-fought 2-0 win in Bilbao

Arsenal opened their 2025/26 UEFA Champions League campaign with a 2-0 win over Athletic Club at San Mamés on Tuesday night.

The Premier League side struggled to break down a well-organised Spanish defence in the first half, with chances at a premium.

Despite dominating possession, Mikel Arteta’s men lacked the incisiveness to turn control into goals.

Substitutes change the game

It was Arteta’s changes from the bench that proved decisive in the second half. Belgian forward Leandro Trossard and Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli combined to devastating effect, delivering the breakthrough in the 72nd minute.

Trossard released Martinelli with a perfectly timed pass, and the Brazilian showed composure to control with his head before racing through and drilling low past goalkeeper Unai Simón.

The pair linked up again minutes later to secure the result. This time Martinelli turned provider, cutting back smartly for Trossard, who calmly slotted home for his first goal of the season.

Depth proves decisive

The two goals highlighted Arsenal’s strength in depth, as Arteta’s tactical substitutions swung the game in their favour after a cagey opening hour.

The Gunners had circulated the ball patiently without reward, but the introduction of direct, pace-driven play ultimately broke Athletic’s resistance.

Appreciation for travelling fans

At the final whistle, Arsenal players made their way towards the travelling supporters high in the stands to applaud their backing.

The victory sets Arsenal off to a strong start in Group Stage action.

This is coming after a content creator, Olaoluwa Segun, published a video naming Dayo Amusa among five Nigerian actors allegedly living with HIV.
Debunking the claim, Amusa in a post on Instagram pointed out that in 2019, she had already publicly shared her HIV-negative test result, as part of a campaign to raise awareness.
She revealed that the post was about encouraging people to know their status, not to signal that she was affected.

She also encouraged her fans and Nigerians broadly to make HIV testing part of their health routine.

“I still feel the need to encourage individuals to get tested and know their HIV status. It is better to know your status so that you can guide yourself and save others too” she captioned.
