Nollywood Actor, Okemesi In Coma Following Complications From Drugs (Video)

Nollywood comic actor and content creator Okemesi is reportedly in a coma after experiencing complications from medication administered at a hospital.

Actor Jeff Owolewa, better known as Tony Montana, made this known in an Instagram post on Monday night.

This came two days after Okemesi moved into a new apartment rented for him by the public.

Recall that Okemesi, whose real name is Bamidele Tope Saint, solicited financial assistance over two weeks ago after suffering from sickness that left him homeless.

However in a new development, Okemesi colleague, Jeff Owolewa, disclosed that the actor has been hospitalized again following complications from the drugs given to him by a hospital that treated him earlier.

Narrating how Okemesi was rejected by different hospitals before finally being taken back to the first hospital that treated and discharged him last week, Jeff noted that Okemesi is currently in a coma.

While urging Nigerians to put him in prayers, Jeff also begged for financial assistance for his treatment.

Jeff said “Guys, Okemesi has been hospitalised again. He was sleeping all through Saturday and Sunday without having much appetite for food due to complications from the drugs that were given to him from the hospital when he was discharged last week.

“I rushed to his house very early on Monday to take him to hospital. He was rejected in different hospitals including a government hospital in Igodo, the doctor refused to attend to him saying there’s no bed space. I have to take him back to the first private hospital that started his treatment. So they admitted him, and stabilised him.

“His breathing is improving. So, he has been in coma since Monday morning. They have placed him on oxygen. We’re all praying that he gets back on track.”

Nigerian Singer, Peter Okoye Makes U-turn, Admits Being Co-Signatory To Account Linked To ‘$1m Fraud’

A Lagos High Court was told on Friday that Peter Okoye has withdrawn his earlier allegation that he was denied access to the bank account of Northside Entertainment Limited, the firm at the centre of an alleged $1 million fraud case involving his brother, Jude Okoye.

Peter disclosed this while testifying before Rahman Oshodi, the presiding judge, revealing that he is, in fact, a co-signatory to the company’s Ecobank account — contradicting his previous assertion that his elder brother Jude was the sole signatory.

The case stems from a 2024 petition filed by Peter, accusing Jude, Psquare’s former manager, of diverting group funds, operating 47 undeclared accounts, and altering the shareholding structure of Northside Entertainment Limited.

Jude is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alongside Northside Music Limited. He faces a four-count charge of theft exceeding $1 million and has pleaded not guilty.

During cross-examination, Clement Onwuewunor, counsel to the defence, presented bank documents showing that Peter and his twin brother Paul were authorised to operate the account.

While responding, Peter explained that his earlier statement, where he said he was only a shareholder, not a signatory, was based on what he was told during a phone call with officials of a bank he described as new.

However, when questioned specifically about the Northside Entertainment Limited account with Ecobank, he admitted that he is one of the authorised signatories to the account.

“My Lord, I am a co-signatory to the Northside Entertainment Limited account in Ecobank,”he said.

Trying to explain the contradiction between his revelation and earlier claims, Peter claimed that although he was later added as a signatory, he never signed cheques or handled transactions.

“From the very onset, Jude was the only signatory. But after some years, he made myself and Paul signatories. Despite that, I never personally signed cheques or carried out transactions,” he added.

Peter further reaffirmed that the Psquare music catalogue belongs solely to him and his twin brother, excluding Jude.

He explained that Jude was not an original member of the group but joined later as manager around 2004 or 2005, after they had already worked with other managers, while emphasising that the group’s success is the result of the hard work of him and his twin brother.

“We all started together as students. We had several managers before Jude. The success of PSquare was built by me and my twin brother from the beginning,” he said.

Peter also confirmed that Northside Entertainment Limited and Square Records Limited were set up to manage their business.

“That arrangement meant we were not just artistes but part-owners,” he said.

He added that Jude owned about 40% of Northside Entertainment Limited, while he held roughly 30%.

He explained that his royalties are paid directly into his personal account by Mad Solutions, the organisation responsible for collecting and distributing Psquare’s royalties in Nigeria.

However, when shown a royalty distribution contract by Jude’s lawyer, he said he needed to verify whether the signature on it was indeed his.

“The signature looks like mine, but I need to examine the document more closely,” he said.

Oshodi adjourned the case until May 15 for the continuation of the trial.

Peter had earlier claimed Jude’s wife owns 800,000 shares in Northside Music Limited.

The Okoye brothers first parted ways in 2017 after a disagreement on Jude’s role as their manager. In November 2021, they ended their five-year feud and held their first headline concert in December.

Paul, however, confirmed that Psquare no longer exists in August 2024.

Nigerian Students With Valid Visas Are Not Affected By Restrictions – US Govt

The United States Mission in Nigeria has assured Nigerian students and exchange participants with valid F1 and J1 visas that the proposed visa restrictions will not impact their status.

In a statement shared on X, the Mission clarified that individuals with valid F1 and J1 visas can continue their studies and exchange programmes in the United States without disruption.

It added that these students remain free to contribute to academic research, innovation, and learning at U.S. institutions.

The clarification follows the implementation of Presidential Proclamation 10998, which restricts and limits the entry of certain foreign nationals into the United States as part of broader security measures.

Under the proclamation, the U.S. government partially suspended the issuance of some visas to Nigerian nationals. The suspension covers nonimmigrant B-1/B-2 visitor visas, F, M and J student and exchange visitor visas, as well as immigrant visas, with limited exceptions.

However, U.S. authorities emphasized that the measure applies only to foreign nationals who were outside the United States on the effective date and did not already possess a valid U.S. visa. Visas issued before the policy took effect will not be revoked, and holders of valid visas remain exempt from the new restrictions.

Nigeria is among 19 countries affected by the partial suspension, which forms part of wider immigration adjustments introduced in recent months. Earlier measures had reduced the validity of most non-immigrant visas issued to Nigerians to single-entry permits lasting three months.

The latest clarification is expected to ease concerns among Nigerian students and exchange participants, as those with valid F1 and J1 visas can proceed with their academic and exchange programmes without interruption.

I’ve Never Been Depraved In My Life – Nigerian Singer, Simi Addresses Resurfaced Tweets After Anti-R@pe Advocacy

Nigerian singer and songwriter Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has addressed the controversy over some of her old social media posts, clarifying that her comments were misinterpreted and had no connection to any wrongdoing.

The reaction followed renewed online discussions after the singer spoke against r@pe amid conversations triggered by the Mirabel TikToker case, which recently gained traction on social media.

She said that men should stop r@ping women and r@pists should be castrated, citing that almost every woman she knows has been s*xually assaulted, which resulted in a social media battle between her and those with contradictory opinions

After days of backlash by trolls on the X app, Simi shared a statement via her social media page on Sunday, that artiste was alerted to the tweets she made years ago and felt compelled to provide context.

“I haven’t been on twitter today – but someone brought a few of my old tweets to my attention and I can’t not address it,” she wrote.

Simi explained that the posts dated back to 2012, a period she described as markedly different from her current public visibility.

According to her, she was living with her mother at the time and assisting at her mother’s daycare centre while building her music career.

“In 2012, I lived and helped out at my mom’s daycare while I was hustling my music. I tweeted everything that happened in my life, as we all did at the time,” she stated.

Addressing the nature of the posts, the singer said the tweets reflected casual observations about children at the daycare.

“Kids can be mischievous. If a child did something I found funny, I tweeted about it. Kids are cute and lovable. I want to hug, kiss and cuddle them. I tweet about it. Nothing I tweeted was from perversion,” she wrote.

She added that she would not allow her past comments to be “twisted” to support what she described as false narratives.

“What I can’t let anyone do is twist my story to fit false narratives,” she said.

Simi also disclosed that some of the posts had been removed due to the sensitivity of the situation.

“My team has been deleting some of my tweets because of how sensitive it is for my family. To be honest, I did not want to,” she added.

The renewed attention emerged shortly after the singer joined conversations condemning r@pe and s*xual violence, prompting social media users to circulate screenshots of posts made between 2012 and 2013.

Among the posts widely shared online was a tweet dated November 12, 2013, which read, “I wonder if anyone’s ever used breast milk to bake cake before.”

Other resurfaced tweets included, “David has a crush on me. He kips comn close; actin lik he wana lock lips n den he puts his head on my lap. Shd I giv him a chance? P.S: Hes 4.”

“love to kiss d kids at my mum’s daycare – they’re super adorable and I’m crazy abt ’em.”

“Why this 4yr old boy tryna put hand inside ma shet????? Ogbeni wash it oh!”

Responding to reactions trailing the posts, the singer maintained that the remarks were never intended to suggest anything inappropriate.

“I’ve never been depraved in my life,” she wrote.

She also reiterated her position on s*xual violence, describing her recent comments on r@pe as consistent with her long-held beliefs.

“I have always spoken against r@pe and s*xual assault, even before you knew I existed. It’s not a costume I’m wearing, it’s who I am.

“I’ve never claimed to be perfect. I’ve never claimed to know everything. I said stop r@ping women. I stand by it,” she said.

The development has continued to generate debate across social media platforms, with differing opinions on the interpretation of the old posts.
