You’re A Wicked Human Being – Davido Blasts Sophia Momodu’s Lawyer After Dropping Custody Battle For Imade

Nigerian music star Davido (Davido Adeleke) has openly criticised the lawyer representing his first child’s mother, Sophia Momodu, after their recent court appearance concerning joint custody of their daughter, Imade Adeleke.

Recall that drama ensued during the court proceedings when Sophia’s lawyer questioned how Davido could guarantee Imade’s safety when he was unable to protect his son, Ifeanyi, who passed away in October 2022.

The lawyer’s comment ticked Davido off, who reportedly lost his cool and slammed the lawyer in the courtroom.

The court proceedings were halted for a while, and when the court reconvened, the judge asked Davido to apologise to the court and the lawyer, but the singer reportedly refused, insisting he can never apologise to the lawyer for using his deceased son against him.

Taking to social media shortly after the hearing, Davido did not hold back, accusing the lawyer of being unprofessional during the proceedings.

The singer also expressed anger that his late son, Ifeanyi, was mentioned during the session, describing the move as insensitive given what he and his wife have been through.

Davido further called the lawyer a wicked human being, insisting that he defeated her during the courtroom exchange.

He wrote, “@belachukwu I disgraced you in the courtroom. I was teaching you your work, you couldn’t even take it and then went on to mention my son… like I said in the courtroom.

“I pray you never go through what me and my wife have gone through ever… and you were still smilling smirking… You are a wicked human being. You are the worst lawyer ever. I beat you in court! you are not learned.”

Davido Withdraws From Custody Case, Loses Legal Fight For Daughter

Afrobeats star Davido (David Adeleke) has announced that he is withdrawing from the ongoing custody battle over his daughter, Imade. The singer also expressed strong dissatisfaction with how the court proceedings unfolded.

In a post shared on X late Friday, the artiste clarified that he never sought sole custody of his daughter, contrary to widespread speculation.

According to him, his request was strictly for joint custody.

“I never asked for full custody … I asked for joint custody. Nobody won, nobody lost but Imade … so I don’t know why some pple r celebrating. There’s nothing to celebrate,” he wrote.

Davido further disclosed that he opted to withdraw from the case after what he described as an unacceptable turn during courtroom exchanges. He alleged that references were made to his late son, which he described as deeply distressing.

“I’ve decided to drop the case because … until she brought out her last card! MY DECEASED SON! THAT’S A NO NO! Lowest blow!” he stated.

He added that his actions were driven by love and responsibility toward his daughter, stressing that his efforts would not go unnoticed in the future.

“My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her … let’s move on. One love!” he wrote.

The singer also took to his Instagram story to criticise the opposing legal team, alleging unprofessional conduct during the proceedings.

“I disgraced you in the courtroom … I was teaching you your work … and then went on to mention my son. Like I said in the courtroom, I pray you never go through what me and my wife have gone through ever,”Davido wrote.

These reactions followed earlier posts by Lagos-based legal practitioner, Maruf Muhammed, who had drawn public attention to what he described as tense moments at the Lagos State High Court, Yaba.

“Davido in High Court, Yaba now! Come and see drama in court. The lawyer made 001 lose his patience during cross-examination o! Be you never so high, the law is above you,”Muhammed posted.

When queried by another user about the matter before the court, it was clarified that the session related to the custody of Davido’s daughter, Imade.

Imade was recently spotted spending quality time with her father following her triumph at a talent competition, a moment that delighted fans and reinforced the shared commitment of both parents to her well-being.

The long-standing custody clash between Davido and his daughter’s mother remains under the spotlight, as fans and well-wishers suggested peaceful co-parenting.

Speaking during a GRAMMY 2026 red carpet interview with OkayAfrica, shared by HYPETRIBE on Monday, Omah Lay explained that his perception changed after he came across a video clip of Davido reacting positively to his music.

According to the singer, the moment came at a difficult time for him personally, and seeing Davido’s reaction left a strong impression.

“I was in the house, really, and I was going through it when I saw it, and I lost my mind,”he said.

Omah Lay admitted that he had previously thought there was tension between them.

“It was the fact that I didn’t know Davido was like that. I thought we had a beef. I thought he didn’t like me,” he explained.

However, the misunderstanding was quickly cleared up after they connected.

“It was funny, and we connected so well after that. Boom—magic happened,” he added.

He went on to describe their collaboration as natural and effortless, noting that the chemistry came easily once they began working together.

Omah Lay also spoke about Nigeria’s strong presence at the Grammys, particularly in the Best African Music Performance category.

When asked who he expected to win, he responded, “Me and Davido, of course. But Burna is there, Ayra is there, Wizkid is there. Any of us—we are repping Nigeria.”

Despite the multiple Nigerian nominations in the category, the award ultimately went to South African singer Tyla for her song Push 2 Start.

David Adeleke, the Nigerian singer and Grammy nominee, popularly known as Davido has disclosed that his hit song With You, featuring Omah Lay, nearly didn’t make the final tracklist of his 5IVE album.

Speaking during an interview with OkayAfrica, reposted by HYPETRIBE on Monday, Davido shared that the song failed to impress during internal listening sessions and was not seen as a standout by his team.

“Man, it’s so crazy because that song almost didn’t make the album. With You was not in anybody’s top five,” he said.

The singer admitted that the song’s massive success later became an emotional moment for him, as he often reflects on how close it came to being left out.

“And now look at it go. Every time I was performing it, my heart would just start beating like, what if I didn’t put this song?” Davido added.

With You went on to earn Davido another Grammy nomination and has since become one of his most successful recent releases, topping charts and surpassing 100 million streams on Spotify.

Davido also recalled how he found out about the nomination, describing it as unexpected.

He said the call came while he was in Dubai, just days before his birthday, as he was out checking a car.

“They were like, ‘Oh yeah, another nomination.’ I was like, wow. Thank God,” he recalled.

Looking ahead, Davido said his focus is firmly on touring and releasing new music.

Davido’s Song Owned Last Year – Oyemmyke Reacts After Davido Lost 2026 Grammys To Tyla (Video)

Oyemmyke, the Nigerian social commentator, believes there is a deliberate effort to deny Nigerian singer Davido a Grammy Award.

In a video he released on social media, Oyemmyke questioned why it was Tyla who won the ‘Best African Music Performance’ award at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, held on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Davido, Burna Boy and AyraStarr were part of the nominees in the category and Oyemmyke felt Davido should have won that category.

Tyla clinched the prize for her song Push 2 Start, marking her second win in the category. She previously won the same award in the inaugural 2024 edition for her global hit Water, becoming the first artiste to win the title twice since the category was introduced.

Reacting to Davido losing to Tyla, Oyemmyke said: ‘’Tyla again?!! Don’t get me wrong, I think Tyla is a fantastic musician but not last year. Davido’s ‘With you’ owned last year. That was the song of the summer all around the world.

“At this point, they do not want to give Davido the Grammys. Sentiments aside. I think he needs to give it up because that’s Davido’s biggest record in the last seven years and that’s because Davido has records but with you?

“This would have been a great opportunity for Omahlay and even if Davido didn’t get it at all, I thought this would have been AyraStarr’s turn.

“At the end of the day its our fault because we put too much respect on this Grammys”
