INEC Is The Headquarters Of Fraud In Nigeria – Adebayo

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in the 2023 polls has opined that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is the headquarters of fraud in the country.

He stated this on Tuesday during an interaction with a cross-section of Nigerians in an online interactive forum HaveYourSay247, moderated by Rudolf Okonkwo.

Adebayo recalled how he warned stakeholders about the insincerity of the electoral umpire months before the February 25 presidential election, stressing that INEC was just fooling everyone with its promise to transmit results electronically.

The legal practitioner questioned how anyone could trust INEC to conduct a credible election when one can’t go to them to register a political party, file reports or invite them to party conventions without inducing them with money.

“INEC is the headquarters of fraud
,” he declared.

Commenting on his campaigns during the election, Adewole said he went to the nooks and crannies of the country and that even great Nigerians like Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikiwe, at the height of their popularity, did not succeed in becoming president.

“The world hasn’t had more than nine people like Zik, yet he couldn’t win the election to become president of Nigeria,”
he argued.

Speaking further on why he didn’t challenge the outcome of the presidential election in court, the SDP candidate said that it would have been a waste of time as not every wrong can be remedied by a court.

He said: “The court is not a place you go and complain in general terms.

“99% of wrongs in society cannot be remedied by the court. When you approach the court, you have to narrow your complaints down to specific legal issues. This is something that election petitioners must understand.”

He stated that he has no hand, directly or indirectly, in the demise of the 27-year-old Afrobeats star.

He said that himself and Mohbad had their share of disagreements while working together but that it never degenerated into wishing each other death.

He said he has been out of the country since August 31 but is making plans to return following an invitation by the police who are currently investigating the death of late Mohbad. He said he is fully cooperating with the police team and has no reason to be a fugitive since he has no hand in the death of Mohbad.

Naira Marley said in due time the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death will be unveiled and the world will know the truth. He added that Mohbad left his record label in September 2022 and that his departure was well accepted. He dismissed claims that his label tried to stop Mohbad from working after he left.

He also stated that he is not a drug lord and that claims that his record label is a drug cartel are untrue. He added that he has never fought Mohbad nor instructed anyone to bully or attack Mohbad.

African Countries Will Remain In Chains Until They Break Free From Drug Barons – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has kicked against drug barons.
He said Africa will not move forward until they break free from drug barons.
Tinubu went ahead to task the national drug law enforcement agencies in Africa to consolidate the fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in their respective countries.
The President warned vehemently that the African continent would remain in chains till it breaks free from the shackles of the criminal enterprises of drug barons and syndicates of illicit drugs.
He sounded the warning in Abuja on Tuesday while declaring open the 31st meeting of the Heads of National Drug Law Enforcement Agencies, Africa (HONLAF) at the Abuja Continental Hotel.
“If we don’t dismantle the criminal enterprises that threaten our future and build a brighter tomorrow for all Africans, we will likely remain in chains in a diseased and amoral world, as will our children and their children,” Tinubu warned.

In his keynote address titled, ‘Rising Above the Drug Threat’, the President who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the event, observed that Africa was “at the mercy of a threat that knows neither race nor geography, neither gender nor social class”.

To this effect, he enjoined the heads of drug law enforcement agencies to consider the conference in Abuja as a ray of hope and a catalyst for positive change across the continent.
Tinubu thanked the officials for their sacrifices in ensuring a world that is free of illicit drugs.
He said, “This threat has crossed borders and destroyed societies and dreams. Without the moral commitment of the men and women in this room, this threat would have left cities, countries, and even civilizations erased. So, I must commend you for your sacrifices in the bids to keep our world drug-free, sane and safe.

“This conference emphasizes your investment across borders to protect us from the devastations of drugs, a threat that only submits to the enforcement of the law.

“Therefore, we are grateful to HONLAF and its partners, notably the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, for creating this avenue, for offering intelligence and drug law enforcement officials a grand opportunity to compare notes, collaborate, and build networks that would be several steps ahead of the criminal network of drug transnational organizations.”

The President expressed regrets that in the last couple of decades, criminal organisations had made frantic efforts to breach security measures in African countries, all in a bid to pollute the minds of their citizens, adding however that the anti-narcotics agencies have proven to be a thorn in their flesh.
Tinubu, who doubles as the chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), stated: “But while it’s a compliment that drug-law enforcement organizations are a threat to their criminal empires, their desperation must never be taken for granted.”

Oct 1: FG Releases Programmes For 63rd Independence Day Anniversary

As Nigerians prepare to celebrate its 63rd Independence Day Anniversary on October 1, 2023, the Federal Government has unveiled the programme of events for the day.

Unveiling the programme of events in Abuja on Monday, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, said the theme of this year’s celebration is “Nigeria @ 63, Renewed Hope for Unity and Prosperity.”

He said President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned a modest celebration this year due to the current economic realities in the country, saying that the government is working with organised Labour and other stakeholders to bring succour to all citizens.

Speaking on the programme lined out for the Anniversary, Akume said the events started with the World Press Conference on Monday, September 26, at the National Press Center, Radio House in Abuja.

He said an anniversary lecture will be held on Friday, 29th September 2023, at the National Mosque Conference Center in Abuja, and Juma’at Prayer to be held at the National Mosque.

The SGF stated that a national broadcast by President Tinubu on Sunday, October 1, will be held, and an Inter-Denominational Church Service will also held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.

He said: “As you are aware, the president has given his approval for this 63rd anniversary to be low-key in line with the present economic realities. The theme of the anniversary is “Nigeria @ 63, Renewed Hope for Unity and Prosperity”.

“In view of the above, the following programmes have been lined up to mark the celebration: World Press Conference on Monday, 26th September at the National Press Center, Radio House Abuja at 11:00 am. Anniversary Symposium/Public Lecture, Thursday, 28th September 2023 at State House Conference Center @ 10 am

“Lecture on Friday, 29th September 2023, National Mosque Conference Center at 10:00 am and Juma’at Prayer at the National Mosque at 1:00 pm. Presidential Broadcast, Sunday, 1st October, 2023 at 7:00 am. Inter-Denominational Church Service on Sunday, 1st October 2023, at the National Christian Center at 10:00 a.m. Military Parade on Monday, 2nd October, 2023 at the Presidential Villa, at 9:00 am.”

The SGF also highlighted the importance of this year’s celebration, having witnessed the seamless, successful, and peaceful Presidential Transition programme from one government to another.

Akume said: “It is particularly important at this time, having witnessed an unbroken democratic record since 1999 as well as the seamless, successful, and peaceful Presidential Transition programme from one government to another. Therefore, this calls for celebration, and we are thankful to God and Nigerians for making this possible.

“Despite political tremors and a wave of coups in some parts of the ECOWAS sub-region, Nigerians have fully embraced democracy with its core values and practices as the best form of governance.

“Democracy affords the citizens the opportunity, through elective structures and processes, to effectively participate in the affairs of their country.

“The relationship between the people and government in a representative democracy is symbiotic: while the citizens support the government, the government provides security, protects, and enhances their interests.”
