JAMB Uncovers 21 Admission Seekers With Fake Results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has disclosed that 21 candidates who paraded fake IJMB results were recommended for 2023 admissions by various institutions.

JAMB, in a policy document obtained by Punch in Abuja, noted that 12 out of the 21 candidates were recommended by the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

“JAMB discovered that 21 candidates who paraded fake IJMB results were recommended during the 2023 admission.  They were not approved.

“Twelve of the recommendations were by ABU, Zaria – what an audacious attitude. Recommendations were possible because certificate screening was done after

Registration, Five institutions were involved in the recommendations; JAMB insists that all certificates must have the signature of the Head of the institution (VC/Provost/Rector).”

Recall that in 2021, JAMB unveiled the Nigerian Post-Secondary Education Data System verification platform for the verification of IJMB and JUPEB results.

The unveiling followed professional operation undertaken by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Education on irregularities and faking of results as contained in a recent statement by the ICPC about the irregularities in JUPEB Board IJMB examination results, said such must be nipped in the bud.

JAMB, in a bulletin, said it had become necessary for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board as a moderator of the two examinations, to take appropriate action and put a stop to the unacceptable happenings.

“These proactive measures as well as others that are in the pipeline, are to ensure that the gains recorded in the education sector, especially the examination sub-sector over the years, are not eroded by unscrupulous individuals who do not mean well for Nigeria,
” JAMB stated.

BBNaija Star, Nina Ivy Defends Stance On Early Childbirth

Nina Ivy, the popular Nigerian reality TV star, recently faced backlash for advocating for early childbirth, specifically in one’s 20s.

She had earlier stated her preference for having children in her 20s and expressed openness to using a sperm donor if necessary.

In response to the backlash, Nina clarified her views in a series of Instagram posts, acknowledging that everyone’s journey is unique and apologising for any offence her comments may have caused.

She explained that she intended to highlight the benefits of having children in their 20s, such as fostering strong relationships and having more energy to raise them.

Nina also pointed out that challenges can arise at any age and encouraged focusing on the positives and valuing each individual’s journey.

“I understand your concern and didn’t mean to sound insensitive. However, you’re right that many women don’t have control over when they can have children, but it’s also true and doesn’t change the fact that some do have that choice. My comment was meant to reflect that diversity of experiences. I recognize that everyone’s journey is different, and I appreciate the chance to clarify my perspective, which I also did on my Snapchat the day I made that post, blogs always choose what they want to post anyway.

“Losses can happen whether you choose to have kids in your 20s or 50s but I believe it’s important to focus on the beautiful and positive aspects of life rather than dwelling on the negatives. Just as some may face challenges with early parenthood, others may encounter them even if they have children later. Let’s try to see the bright side and appreciate the good things we have. Everyone’s experience is different and that’s okay”, she wrote.

Nina also reiterated that her perspective is based on her own experiences and observations, and she respects differing opinions.

“I believe that having kids in your 20s can be the best option because it often allows you to have more energy and time to raise your children, while also giving you more years later in life to pursue other goals once they are grown. I also think it can be beneficial for building a strong, long-lasting relationship with your children as you grow together. Example “Omoni Oboli”.

“This is my perspective based on my own experiences and observations. I understand that everyone’s situation is different, and it’s completely okay if you don’t agree with me.

“You can’t shove your opinion on my throat the same way I’m not shoving mine on yours. PS: You don’t have to agree with me either and that’s okay”, she added.

‘He decided not to play’ – Napoli confirm no plans to reintegrate Osimhen into squad

Napoli has confirmed that Victor Osimhen will not be returning to their first-team squad.

This follows the breakdown of transfer negotiations between interested clubs.

Napoli’s director, Mauro Manna, revealed that Osimhen decided not to play for the club anymore last year.

“Osimhen decided not to play for our club anymore last year,” Manna stated. “We tried to help, but the deal didn’t happen. The plan on both sides remains to part ways.”

Manager Antonio Conte echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that there are no plans to reintegrate Osimhen into the squad.

“No player will be reintegrated,” Conte asserted. “Those who are out of the project will remain out. We made our choices and work in one direction all together.”

GistReel Sport reported that Osimhen, who was expected to leave Napoli on Deadline Day, saw moves to both Chelsea and Al Ahli collapse at the last minute.

Chelsea delegates were reportedly in Naples until the final moments of the transfer window, but a deal could not be reached.

Meanwhile, Al Ahli opted to sign Ivan Toney from Brentford, despite initially agreeing to buy Osimhen.

With the transfer window now closed, Osimhen remains at Napoli, but his future with the club appears bleak.

The Nigerian striker no longer features on the club’s official website, and his shirt number has already been handed to new signing Romelu Lukaku.

Toke Makinwa addresses narrative she dislikes men and marriage

Media personality and actress Toke Makinwa has spoken out against the widespread belief that she harbors negative feelings towards men andmarriage.

The on-air personality clarified that, despite the common narrative, she is actually a strong supporter of marriage and enjoyed being married.

However, she noted that today’s generation often lacks appreciation for people and meaningful commitments. If these issues aren’t addressed, she believes more people will choose a peaceful life alone over occasional happiness.

Her words: “Funny how the narrative out there is that I hate men or I’m a man basher etc. truth is I love marriage, I loved being married, I’m a huge advocate for marriage cos 2 is better than 1. The way this generation is set up though…..@@@@ We use people and value things. It should be the other way round. We used to Value people and things were meant to be used. Our generation is moving like everyone is replaceable, we stopped investing in people cos we all think we can find better Everyone moving like our material things and what society has made us think is real success is what we need to invest in. Way back it took a community to raise kids, not anymore, our walls are so high. We care more about what we put out, everyone is all about “I” and the few who are not get involved with those who are and it ends up being one sided. People picking their peace of mind over a collective Peace for all. It can’t werk Until we begin to fix it, sadly a lot of people will settle for life alone with peace over trying to exist in periodic happiness and disposable interaction. Thank you all for coming to my TedTalk… it’s been a while. Ok Bye”
