The MOBO Awards has unveiled nominations for their 2025 edition.
Nigerian singers, Asake, Rema, Ayra Starr, Tems, Bnxn, Ruger, Shallipopi, and Odumodublvck were nominated for the 2025 Music of Black Origin Awards.
Tems, Ayra Starr, and Asake are nominated in the Best International Act category alongside Beyonce, Glorilla, Kendrick Lamar, Latto, Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, and Tyla.
In the Best African Music Act category, Asake, Ayra Starr, Bnxn & Ruger, Odumodublvck, Rema, Shallipopi, and Tems are nominated alongside South African singers; Tyla and Uncle Waffles.
For the first time, the ceremony will take place in Newcastle, at the Utilita Arena on Tuesday, February 18.

There was a fire outbreak at the Lagos home of popular Nigerian actress and filmmaker, Mercy Aigbe.
The fire, which caused extensive damage to property and valuables, left the actress heartbroken.
In a statement shared on her official social media accounts, Mercy Aigbe expressed gratitude that no lives were lost in the unfortunate incident.
She also thanked her fans for their unwavering support during this challenging time.
“Devastated, I thank God no life was lost. It is well,” she wrote.

David Adeleke, the popular Nigerian singer, who is also known as Davido, has said he doesn’t regard cannabis, commonly called weed, as a hard drug.
The singer stated this while discussing his foundation’s planned donation to orphanages and fight against drug abuse on the latest episode of The Morning Hustle podcast.
Davido said some people are accusing him of being a hypocrite for donating to fight against drug abuse while still smoking weed but he doesn’t regard weed as a hard drug.
He said: “This year, I’m donating to the fight against drug abuse among youths. I don’t count weed as a hard drug. Some people are saying I smoke weed but I don’t count weed as a drug.
“A lot of people have been going through a lot recently. Drug addiction is becoming rampant. So I want to donate to that cause to help them quit.”
