Why Every Woman Needs Self-Respect, Ambition, Not Sugar Daddy – Actress, Beckybambam

Becky Nwanacho, the Nigerian actress, hotelier, and creative entrepreneur, who is popularly known as Beckybambam, has shared insights into her career journey, personal values, and perspectives on some of the most debated topics concerning women, Nollywood, and relationships.

In a candid conversation with Potpourri, she emphasized that self-respect and ambition are the true essentials for women—not dependence on a “sugar daddy.”

When asked about the notion that every single lady needs a sugar daddy, Beckybambam was firm in her response: “I don’t agree. Every woman needs self-respect, ambition, and independence—not a sugar daddy. While some may choose that path, I strongly believe women are capable of achieving their dreams without depending on anyone for validation or survival.”

Speaking on feminism, Beckybambam described it as the fight for equal opportunities and respect for women rather than superiority over men.

“It’s about creating a society where women’s voices, dreams, and contributions are valued just as much as men’s,”
she said.

On social media, she credited the platforms for giving her the opportunity to connect with people globally and share her craft, but admitted the downside is the negativity that sometimes comes with it.

“My best experience has been connecting with amazing people who truly appreciate my work. The worst has been negativity, but I focus on the positive energy and supportive community that keeps me going.”

On the subject of friendship in Nollywood, she acknowledged the mixed experiences in the industry.

“Like every industry, Nollywood has both genuine and fake people. I’ve met colleagues who became family, and I’ve also experienced disappointment. The key is knowing your circle and keeping your values intact.”

Recalling her first movie role, she revealed that it was a small part but a pivotal one:

“It may not have been the lead, but it gave me confidence that I belong in this industry. That first step lit the fire that still drives me today. It was the foundation of my acting journey before I enrolled in acting school.”

Beckybambam listed Bimbo Ademoye, Nancy Isime, Sharon Ooja, and Bisola as her mentors, praising their discipline and resilience.

“They remind me that consistency and character are the true currencies of success.”

On relationships, she said she values respect, kindness, ambition, faith in God, and humor in a man.

“Character and integrity matter far more than material possessions. A man who understands partnership is a treasure.”

Discussing body enhancement, she maintained that women should have the freedom to choose what makes them confident.

“Personally, I believe in doing what makes you feel good and happy. Confidence comes in many forms, and women should own their choices.”

For her, love is about balance.

“Love is about sacrifice and compromise, but it should never cost you your dignity or your dreams. True love allows you to flourish, not diminish.”

Beyond Nollywood, Beckybambam has built a presence in hospitality and digital entrepreneurship, creating multiple streams of income to complement her passion for acting.

Her acting credits include A Tale of Love, Obsession, In Her Shoe, Along Came Love, Sinister 3, Heart Connect, Buy Me a Rose, Talk Your Talk, Compromise, Whispers of the Womb, Unseen Battle, and Office Romance.

With her blend of ambition, resilience, and entrepreneurial drive, Beckybambam represents a new generation of Nollywood stars determined to shape their own narratives both on and off the screen.

He Hit Me Up On Instagram – Nigerian Singer, Fave Recounts Collaboration With Davido On Hit Song ‘Kante’

Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, the Nigerian songwriter and music artist, who is popularly known as Fave, has shared details about her collaboration with Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, aka Davido, on the hit song “Kante.”

In an interview on The Nancy Isime Show, Fave recalled how Davido personally reached out to her on Instagram after she had recorded the song months earlier.

“Well, I had already recorded this song before, like months before. Davido hit me up on Instagram and was like, I’m wrapping up my album and I would love you to be on it.

“And I don’t want it to be one of those songs where it’s like, even though it’s Davido featuring Fave, I still want it to feel like our song,” she said.

According to her, Davido chose Kante after she sent him about three songs to pick from

“So I sent him three songs and he picked Kante,”
she added.

Fave also highlighted her love for writing and the discouragement she had from her parents from pursuing music to prevent lapses in education.

“And as a child growing up in an African home, I get it. I guess it’s true when you have like strict parents. We have very, very strict. Mommy, I’m sorry. My dad is very, very strict.

“So that’s why they kind of didn’t really let me, you know, like, should I say enhance my writing and singing abilities because they felt like, you know, this would distract you in school.

“But regardless, on my own, it’s something that I love to do. So I was always writing, like I would always have books upon books of poems or songs. So being an artist now, to me, I have to write deep. It’s just a part of me,”she said.

She noted, however, that Kante was one of the few songs she didn’t write too deeply because it was more of a danceable vibe.

“I think Kante is probably one of the songs that I wasn’t trying to be deep on. Because I just felt like ‘Na gbedu’, you don’t really need to put too much lyrics in it.”
she added.

Tinubu will win South-East in 2027 — APC chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Professor Anthony Agbazuere, has expressed confidence that the South-East will support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting of APC members from the old Aba political bloc in Ikem Nvosi, Isialangwa Local Government Area, Agbazuere urged potential presidential aspirants to drop their ambitions and allow Tinubu to complete his programs for the nation.

He argued that the president’s policies have brought stability to the economy and renewed hope among Nigerians. According to him, the removal of fuel subsidy has opened up significant resources for development, enabling state governors and local government chairmen to deliver more effectively.

Agbazuere also highlighted the establishment of the South-East Development Commission as a landmark initiative, saying it demonstrates Tinubu’s commitment to rebuilding the region and has further endeared him to the people of the zone.

He said …

“As members of the APC, we are very happy that we have a president who is working very hard, who is exceptional as a leader. President Bola Tinubu is a special species of man. Only those who have little IQ will dispute that.

“President Tinubu came in as president of Nigeria when the former government was printing money to survive. What they call wages and means. They were printing money to survive. And that meant keeping our children and grandchildren in a state of indebtedness for life. Pushing our troubles and our problems forward for our children and grandchildren. President Bola Tinubu came in and said no.

“Living a false life. For how long shall that be? That a lot of people were making so much money from the fuel subsidy. Because at that time, people would buy fuel from Nigeria and go and sell the same fuel to countries outside Nigeria at the boundaries of Nigeria and make billions of Naira.

“Nigeria was subsidising not just for Nigerians alone, but for other countries around Nigeria. And that meant it was wrong. And President Tinubu said no.

“He now had to remove the fuel subsidy and all the quantum of funds coming from there. He started pushing those funds, those monies, back to the people through the state governments and local governments. And that’s why he’s saying that we should go to state governments to account for these monies.”

Agbazuere further commended President Tinubu for championing local government autonomy but criticized state governors for allegedly obstructing the implementation of the Supreme Court judgment upholding the policy.

“And this is the only government too that came on board and saw the need for local governments to be autonomous. The federal government of Nigeria, under President Tinubu, had to file a suit at the Supreme Court.

“And the Supreme Court delivered a judgment that funds meant for local governments should be given to them directly. Even up to now, the states are still disobeying.”

On education, Agbazuere praised President Tinubu for initiating the student loan scheme, which he said would enable children from poor backgrounds to complete their university studies.

“This is the same government and the only government that has come up to say, look, children of poor parents, you must not be chased away from universities.

“I am introducing student loans for you to pay your school fees. And you can only pay back when you start working at your convenience, and of course, gradually. But to make sure you complete your school education, your university education, we must support you as a government,” he added.

The APC chieftain added that President Tinubu has reformed the tax system in a way that exempts low-income earners from paying taxes in Nigeria.

“Today, if you’re not working in Nigeria, you won’t pay tax. Who has ever done this before? If not Tinubu, so why must we not support such a person that says that the rich who get so much money should be paying their tax.

“Those who have not gotten enough as salary should not pay tax. Where does this ever happen? Is it not Nigeria? Is it not Tinubu? That’s what we are saying. Such a person should be allowed to exhaust his program of action.

“President Tinubu is focused. He is visionary. And that’s what people like us at my level as a professor of laws, I say, look, allow this man. Those who think they have other ideas should wait after his tenure of eight years. They can come and let us all see what they have,” he said.

Manchester United 3-2 Burnley: Fernandes scores late penalty to ease pressure on Amorim

Manchester United secured their first win of the Premier League season with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Burnley at Old Trafford, courtesy of a Bruno Fernandes penalty deep into stoppage time.

United, under pressure after a poor start to the campaign, took the lead in the 29th minute.

Casemiro’s header from a Fernandes free-kick rebounded off Josh Cullen and crossed the line despite goalkeeper Martin Dubravka’s attempt to clear.

However, Burnley equalised through Lyle Foster, who converted Jens Larsen’s cross midway through the second half.

United responded almost immediately, with Diogo Dalot setting up Bryan Mbeumo for a close-range finish to restore the lead.

The visitors refused to fade, and substitute Jaidon Anthony levelled again after Kobbie Mainoo deflected his shot past goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

Burnley looked set to claim a point until a late VAR intervention awarded United a penalty for Antony’s shirt pulling on Amad Diallo.

Fernandes, who missed from the spot last week, held his nerve in the 97th minute to seal the victory.

The result provides relief for manager Ruben Amorim, whose side had endured a difficult run, including a midweek Carabao Cup exit.
