Big Brother Naija housemate Sultana has revealed why she chose Islam over Christianity.

Born to a Muslim father from Adamawa State and a Christian mother from Yala, Cross River State, Sultana said she grew up exposed to both faiths.

Speaking to co-housemates, she said that she was previously baptised as a Catholic with the name Josephine but decided to embrace Islam as it “works best” for her.

Zita: “Are your parents strict Muslims?”

Sultana: “No, I grew up going to both church and mosque. My mom is a Christian. At some points, I got baptized in Catholic, my baptismal name is Josephine. I just decided to choose the religion that works best for me, which is Islam.”

Nigerian singer Small Doctor has issued a serious safety warning to the public, urging commuters to avoid boarding Korope minibuses that have conductors.

In a message posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the street pop star claimed that 90% of such minibuses may be involved in shady or suspicious activities, hinting at a possible trend of criminal operations disguised as public transport.

“If you come across a mini bus (Korope) with a conductor, please do not board. Do Not Board. Do not board. 90% of them have another agenda. Be vigilant,” Small Doctor warned.

Cristiano Ronaldo lands in Portugal ahead of Al Nassr pre-season tour

Portuguese star, Cristiano Ronaldo, has landed in Lagos, Portugal, ahead of Al Nassr’s pre-season tour.

This comes after they concluded a training camp in Lisbon and secured a 2-1 win against Toulouse, with Ronaldo scoring a goal.

Notably, Ronaldo has been in the headlines over his contract renewal with Al Nassr, securing his future with the club until 2027.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s new contract with Al Nassr includes a signing bonus of £24.5 million, which increases to £38 million if he activates the second year of the deal.

He will also receive performance bonuses, including £80,000 for every goal and £40,000 for every assist, with both amounts increasing by 20% in the second year.

This deal cements Ronaldo’s status as a one of the highest paid athlete in the world.

WAEC result portal crashes amid outrage

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC)result-checking portal suddenly crashed on Wednesday evening, just days after it announced the worst West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results in a decade.

The portal failure, which WAEC attributed to “technical issues,” further escalated public frustration.

In a post via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, @waecnigeria, the examination body said efforts were underway to restore access within 24 hours.

“WAEC hereby informs the general public that the result checker portal @waecdirect.org is temporarily shut down due to technical issues.However, the Council is working assiduously to ensure that candidates are able to access their results in the next 24 hours,” the statement read.

The announcement did little to calm tempers, as thousands of candidates and parents continue to raise questions over the credibility of the 2025 results especially the mass failure in English Language.

WAEC had earlier revealed that just 38.32% of the nearly two million candidates obtained credit passes in five subjects including English and Mathematics, a major drop from previous years.

Many candidates took to social media to share their grievances, claiming the English Language exam was marred by disorganization and poor logistics.

Several reported writing the paper late into the night at some centres due to delays, with no access to electricity and shortened exam durations.

“We started writing at 8 pm under torchlights. They gave us just an hour to complete a paper meant to last over two hours,” user @_samad1 posted.

Another user, @sikimark said: “The English exam was a disaster. If JAMB can make corrections, why can’t WAEC? This is a national embarrassment.”

A tweet user @JayTrezy wrote: “WAEC is playing with the lives of young Nigerians. If most of those English papers are rechecked, heads will roll.”

“My daughter had multiple A1s and B2s, yet somehow got D7 in English. It doesn’t add up,” a parent, @Johnway11145073, tweeted.

Another user, @DEYHOT_official, pleaded: “WAEC, please look into the English results. This is crushing the dreams of hardworking students and parents.”

Some are now pushing for an independent investigation or intervention from higher authorities.

A user, @e_okwori, urged tagging the presidency and the Ministry of Education to involve external oversight in reviewing the process.

“We reject this result. WAEC must do the needful or prepare for protests,” @pastorbtdaniels said.

2025 WAEC: Result of girl goes viral amid mass failure

A young Nigerian girl, Emmanuella Chidiebube, has gone viral on social media after her 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) result surfaced online.

Emmanuella, a student of Chris International School, became the center of attention after a Facebook user, Gadafi Idreez, shared her photo alongside her outstanding result, sparking admiration and praise from netizens.

According to the shared post, Emmanuella had A1 in seven subjects: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Civic Education, Marketing, and Economics. She also scored B3 in Mathematics and C4 in English Language

Her remarkable result surfaced amid the poor overall performance in this year’s examination, as WAEC recently announced that over 60% of candidates failed to have credit passes in core subjects like Mathematics and English.

While celebrating her, Gadafi Idreez wrote:

2027: Jonathan ready to run again – Insider

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has reportedly accepted to be the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer for the 2027 presidential election to confront incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

A close ally of Jonathan confirmed to Vanguard that the former leader has agreed in principle to re-enter the presidential race, with the goal of tackling widespread poverty and hardship that many Nigerians have endured in recent years.

According to the source, prominent political figures and elder statesmen convinced that Jonathan’s previous tenure brought stability to the country and the economy are behind the push to bring him back.

“Jonathan is being urged to contest again to reposition Nigeria. The idea is to give him one term to stabilise the system and possibly return power to the North by 2031 without much resistance from the South,” the ally revealed.

Behind-the-scenes meetings have already taken place, including a recent one with former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, in Minna. Although the details of Babangida’s response remain private, insiders believe the northern political establishment has been largely sold on the idea.

Jonathan is also said to be engaging leaders across the South-South region, including undisclosed stakeholders in Port Harcourt, to secure support from his home base.

The PDP is reportedly going all-in to bring Jonathan back into the party’s core fold. According to PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Ibrahim Abdullahi, calls for Jonathan’s return have grown louder as many Nigerians now reflect positively on his administration.

“People now admit they made a mistake by not re-electing him. He’s being asked to return and rescue the country,” Abdullahi told BBC Hausa Service. He also confirmed that Jonathan is laying down conditions, including clarity on the party’s primary process and his role if he accepts the offer.

Sources say PDP leaders have also met with Jonathan in The Gambia to persuade him to take the party’s presidential ticket.

Don’t trade your soul for wealth – Pastor Adeboye

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has cautioned Christians against prioritizing material wealth at the expense of their spiritual well-being, calling such a decision “foolish.”

While addressing the RCCG’s 73rd Annual Convention, themed “The Overcomers,” Adeboye emphasized that genuine triumph in Christ calls for spiritual discipline and a deliberate rejection of worldly temptations.

“God is not against enjoyment,” he said. “But the body you’re pampering and beautifying will return to dust. It’s your spirit that will stand before God, so nurture that.”

He acknowledged that prosperity is included in God’s promises, but condemned acquiring riches through immoral practices such as lying, stealing, or cheating.

“If you’re chasing money and losing your soul in the process, that’s stupidity,” he said. “What use is your wealth when you d+e? You can’t take any of it with you.”

Adeboye described the life of an overcomer as one characterized by sacrifice, self-discipline, and a strong refusal to adopt worldly standards. “Becoming a champion takes discipline. Staying one takes even more because everyone is after your crown,” he warned.

He encouraged believers to stay strong in their faith and resist fleshly desires.

“Life is warfare filled with battles,” he said. “But take heart you’re not alone. The Holy Spirit in you is greater than anything you’re up against.”

Addressing the human condition, he said: “You are a mix of dust and divinity. The flesh pulls you down, but the Spirit of God lifts you up. To live as an overcomer, you must choose the Spirit.”

KWAM 1 nearly knocked down by aircraft at airport

Veteran Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, was nearly hit by a ValueJet aircraft on Wednesday morning at the Abuja airport in a dramatic incident that has sparked widespread concern.

According to eyewitness accounts, the singer was scheduled to board a ValueJet flight from Abuja to Lagos but was reportedly deboarded by the flight crew for allegedly violating aviation regulations. The nature of the violation has not been officially disclosed.

Enraged by the development, KWAM 1 allegedly stormed onto the tarmac and attempted to stop the aircraft from taking off by standing in front of it.

In a now-viral video circulating on social media, the Fuji icon can be seen confronting ground staff as the aircraft begins to taxi. The footage shows a tense moment where the plane moves dangerously close to KWAM 1, narrowly avoiding a collision.

Aviation experts and social media users have raised questions about how the incident was allowed to escalate to that point, with some accusing the airline of endangering lives by proceeding with the take-off process despite the presence of a pedestrian on the runway.

ValueJet and airport authorities are yet to issue an official statement as of press time.

Barcelona face La Liga block over Ter Stegen injury

Barcelona’s attempt to exploit La Liga’s injury exemption rule to register a new goalkeeper has hit a major snag, as Marc-André ter Stegen refuses to authorize the release of his medical records.

Following surgery on his back, the club hoped to use the injury rule, which permits clubs to replace players out for four months or more by reallocating 50-80% of their salary.

Barça planned to bring in Joan Garcia under this provision.

However, La Liga are refusing to process ter Stegen’s medical report without his signed consent.

Despite Barcelona claiming they have legal grounds to bypass his approval under data protection exemptions, the league insists the rules are clear, no signature, no review.

Cadena SER reports that unless ter Stegen relents, the Blaugrana will be blocked from registering Garcia or any replacement using the injury rule.

Barcelona had planned to meet the goalkeeper upon returning from South Korea to resolve the issue.

However, Diario AS now says the meeting has been cancelled.

The club, reportedly incensed by ter Stegen’s stance, believes he is acting in bad faith and undermining the team.

Without a breakthrough, Barcelona may enter the new La Liga season without a registered senior goalkeeper to cover ter Stegen’s prolonged absence.

Paul Scholes argues Gyokeres ‘suitability’ for Arsenal

Paul Scholes has expressed doubts over Viktor Gyokeres’ suitability for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side.

This follows the striker’s £64 million move from Sporting Lisbon.

Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, the Manchester United legend questioned whether Gyokeres was Arteta’s first-choice signing, pointing to Arsenal’s prolonged negotiations and indecision.

Gyokeres, who struggled during an earlier stint at Brighton, rebuilt his career at Coventry City before exploding at Sporting, where he scored 97 goals in 102 appearances, including 52 last season and a Champions League hat-trick against Manchester City.

While acknowledging the Swede’s impressive record, Scholes queried his tactical fit at Arsenal.

He said that Gyokeres thrived in a counter-attacking system at Sporting, which contrasts with Arsenal’s possession-heavy approach.

“Is he going to be clever enough to make those runs in behind when Arsenal dominate the ball?” Scholes asked.

He also contrasted Gyokeres with Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, suggesting the latter possesses the movement and intelligence suited to a team like Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Gyokeres’ lacklustre debut, just two touches in 13 minutes during a 1-0 loss to Spurs in Hong Kong, did little to silence critics.
