“If you drop out or skip classes, you could lose your visa” – US to Nigerian Students

The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued a warning to Nigerian students studying in America to strictly comply with the conditions of their student visas or risk losing the right to study in the country.

The advisory, issued on Wednesday via the mission’s official X handle, reminded students that failure to maintain both their academic and immigration status could lead to visa revocation and jeopardise future U.S. visa applications.

According to the mission, common violations include abandoning studies, failing to attend classes, or changing academic programmes without officially notifying the school.

If you drop out, skip classes, or leave your program of study without informing your school, your student visa may be revoked, and you may lose eligibility for future U.S. visas. Always adhere to the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to avoid any issues,” the embassy warned.

The mission also reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for breaches of U.S. laws, stressing that arrests in the United States could trigger immediate immigration consequences, including deportation and a permanent ban on future visas.

The statement, shared with the hashtags #VisaWiseTravelSmart and #USVisa, comes as thousands of Nigerian students prepare to travel for the September academic session.

Always wear bra, pants’ — Biodun Stephen advises ladies after Ibom Air incident

Biodun Stephen, the Nollywood filmmaker, has advised young women to always wear underwear when in public spaces.

Her advice comes in response to a recent viral incident involving a female passenger on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos.

On August 10, videos circulated online showing passenger Comfort Emmanson in a heated altercation with flight attendants and later with airport security.

During the struggle, her breasts were exposed as security personnel forcibly removed her from the plane.

According to Ibom Air, the incident began before takeoff when Emmanson refused to switch off her mobile phone, violating aviation safety rules.

After another passenger turned off her device, she reportedly became enraged. Upon landing in Lagos, she allegedly assaulted a flight attendant.

Emmanson was remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre for alleged assault and property damage.

Reacting to the incident, Stephen took to Instagram to emphasise the importance of wearing underwear, especially in situations that could lead to physical altercations.

The filmmaker recalled previously advising young women to wear bras and panties but facing backlash for her stance.

“I do recall few years ago when I did a video that people should stop going without panties. After sometimes, I also warned that people should always deem it fit to wear bra. Some of you said you can do whatever you like with your breast,” she said in a video.

“Can you all see what has happened now? The girl from the Ibom Airline. She knew she was not wearing bra or panties and she still wanted to fight.

“At least if you want to warfare, you must have the necessary tools of weaponry. Eg. You wear pants and bra. Because that lady wore leggings that day and I believed she did not also wear a pant.

“Did you see her two breasts out? People that were not supposed to see it, they all did. Once you people wear body hugs, you refuse to wear bra.

“… I’m saying it again, wear your bra, wear your pants — so that when the spirit of Hulk Hogan enters you, you’ll be ready for battle.”

MI Abaga claims internet fraudsters fund many Nigerian artistes

Jude ‘MI’ Abaga, the Nigerian rapper, has lamented the prevalence of “internet fraud funding in the country’s music industry”.

In a recent interview on the So Nigerian podcast, MI claimed some artistes rely on proceeds from cybercrime, popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo.

The rapper argued that internet fraud has become a major source of investment for up-and-coming artistes.

MI said this shows the lack of proper funding structures for the creative sector.

“There’s a lot of controversy when people talk about Yahoo Yahoo because a lot of artistes, that is the funding that they have,” he said.

“What I’m trying to say is that it’s an indictment on our country that we have such talented musicians and that the major funding for the industry comes from the West and this other industry.

“It’s an indictment. It shows that something is wrong. Hopefully, we can do better. Think about it, let’s even say I’m a Yahoo boy, I’m not, but let’s say I was and I just made N100 million. Okay, I’m now a criminal who made N100 million but still don’t have to give it to an artiste, I can blow it however I want, or I can put it in real estate.

“What I’m trying to say is that, the fact that it goes to artistes and that is one of the major ways that artistes can get investments into them. Like there’s no place else, it happens to be other young people who just happen to have money.

“Society will criticize the method of legal money, but what is relevant is that there are other young people who have money and are just trying to help because they’re seeing their talented friends, and that is a statement about Nigeria.”

Una think say I wan snatch David from his wife? – Ka3na slams critics

Former BBNaija star Ka3na has reacted to backlash over a photoshopped version of Davido and Chioma’s pre-wedding photo, in which she replaced Chioma’s face with hers.

Many Nigerians saw the edit as disrespectful to the couple.

In a detailed response, Ka3na clarified that she has no interest in “snatching” Davido, noting she became a millionaire at 19, married at 22, and a mother at 25.

Describing herself as a virtuous woman, widow, single parent, and businesswoman facing real-life challenges, she urged critics to avoid letting insecurities fuel unfair judgments.

She wrote …

“Millionaire at 19. Wife at 22. Mother at 25. Three decades later… a billionaire with multiple streams of income. So what’s all the noise really about? Abi una think say i wan snatch Mr David from him gorgeous wife? Please, I DO WHITE MEN ONLY! 😉

Normally, I wouldn’t even respond. But because my intentions are genuine, I need to clear the air. I love David and his beautiful wife. Those closest to me know how highly I speak of them. Even @davido knows I support and pray for him from afar.

It’s not just about showing empty love online, do you actually pray for them? How many of you can honestly say you’ve prayed in private for their marriage to succeed, not just dropped fake public love in the comments? I can.

Please understand behind social media, there’s real life. In my world, I’m a virtuous woman who will never wish anyone evil. I’m a widow and a single parent, a businesswoman, with real life struggles, but I still show up here daily or sometimes once in a blue moon to share what I call “a curated collection.”

I pray God softens our hearts so we can laugh at jokes and not let our insecurities make us judge others wrongly. 🤍 Haven’t said these… i will now archive “the post” not because some of you bullied me but because it was meant to be deleted after 24hrs. #Ka3naTheBossLady ✌🏽”
