Chelsea stage Carabao Cup comeback against Lincoln as Jorgensen endures night to forget

Chelsea narrowly avoided a Carabao Cup upset on Tuesday night as they came from behind to beat Lincoln City 2-1 in the third round.

Tyrique George delivered a goal and an assist to spare the Blues’ blushes, while goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen endured a torrid evening in Robert Sanchez’s absence.

The Club World Cup holders were rattled for large parts of the tie and looked in danger of being dumped out by League One opposition before turning the game around early in the second half.

Lincoln strike first

Chelsea carried a hangover from their weekend defeat to Manchester United, with Lincoln starting the brighter side.

Lewis Montsma struck the post before Rob Street capitalised on poor defending to fire the visitors ahead in the 42nd minute.

The west Londoners looked flat and disjointed at the break, offering little threat in attack while looking shaky at the back.

George inspires fightback

Things shifted just after the restart when George lashed in a powerful strike from the edge of the area to make it 1-1.

Moments later, Facundo Buonanotte danced through the defence to slot home the winner in the 50th minute.

Despite the quick turnaround, Chelsea never looked entirely comfortable. Jorgensen, deputising in goal, produced an error-strewn performance that kept Lincoln interested until the final whistle.

Nervous progress

Maresca’s side clung on to book their place in the next round, but the display will raise fresh concerns.

While George’s influence was a major positive, Chelsea’s defensive woes and Jorgensen’s struggles leave plenty for the Enzo Maresca to address going forward.

Dembele hails ‘wonderful’ Yamal, insists ‘he’ll win several Ballon d’Or awards’

Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele has hailed Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal after edging him to the 2025 Ballon d’Or on Monday night in Paris.

Dembele, who spearheaded PSG’s historic treble-winning campaign last season, claimed football’s top individual prize ahead of Yamal and Vitinha.

Dembele’s treble-winning campaign

The Frenchman registered 37 goals and 16 assists across all competitions as PSG secured their maiden Champions League title alongside Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France.

His heroics left voters with little doubt as he clinched the Golden Ball at the Théâtre du Châtelet.

Barcelona also enjoyed a stellar year under Yamal’s influence, lifting La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.

However, their Champions League semi-final exit tilted the balance in Dembele’s favour.

Classy words for Yamal

In his emotional acceptance speech, Dembele lauded his teenage rival: “Lamine Yamal is an exceptional young man. A wonderful player with great maturity. I believe he will win several Ballon d’Or awards.”

Tribute to family

The PSG star also fought back tears as he thanked those closest to him. “To my mother, I want to thank you. You have always been there for me, mama,” he said.

“To my family, we have experienced so much together. We have been through it all. We will always be together.”

Future battle for football’s biggest prize

Dembele’s prediction for Yamal may not be far-fetched. At just 18, the Spaniard has already carved his name into football’s elite, recording five goal contributions in his first three games of the new campaign before picking up an injury.

Dembele himself has also been nursing a knock but is expected to feature when PSG host Auxerre in Ligue 1 next weekend.

I’ve Received N20 Billion As My Birthday Gift For National Library – Remi Tinubu

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu has announced she has received the sum of ₦20 billion towards the completion of the National Library project.
Speaking at a lunch with State House correspondents to mark her 65th birthday on Tuesday at the presidential Villa, said the library project was her chosen legacy gift to the nation.
The First Lady explained that instead of receiving cakes, gifts, and adverts for her birthday, she appealed to Nigerians to channel their goodwill into funding the completion of the National Library.
The Senator Tinubu dismissed claims that the gesture had political undertones, stressing that her only motivation was service to the country.
“I want to clear the air about some people saying it has a political undertone. What is wrong in doing well?” she asked.
Speaking on the reason for choosing the National Library, Tinubu recalled her years in the Senate where she served for 12 years on the Committee on Education. She said her humble upbringing also made her appreciate the value of libraries.
“From a humble background, the library played a role in my life,” she said.
“That’s why I thought this is a worthy cause.”
The First Lady noted that education remained central to national development and pledged to sustain her commitment to projects that would benefit future generations.
She stressed that about ₦20 billion has so far been raised for the library project through the Oluremi @65 Education Fund.

GWR: Jollof Pot Collapse Was Blessing in Disguise – Hilda Baci

Nigerian chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci has opened up on how she felt after her post of jollof rice collapsed.
Recall that during her Guinness World Record feat for cooking the largest pot of jollof rice, the giant custom-made pot unexpectedly collapsed as it was about to be weighed.
Speaking in a video interview shared on X on Tuesday, Hilda disclosed how the incident shook her confidence.

“When we had the mishap with the pot, my first few seconds, my heart was in my hands. I was very scared, very worried,” she said.
According to her, the priority at that point was feeding people, not the record itself, noting that the pot’s failure turned out to be helpful.
“For me, the record was not the most important thing. It was important that people got to taste and enjoy the food we had spent hours making.

“I would say it was a good thing that the pot caved because it made food distribution a lot easier… it was a blessing in disguise,” she explained.
The dramatic scene unfolded on September 12 at the World Jollof Festival in Lagos, where Hilda and her team cooked nearly 8,780 kilograms (about 19,356 pounds) of jollof rice in a six-metre-wide pot designed to hold 23,000 litres.
As the crane hoisted the pot for weighing, one side gave way and the support legs collapsed, though the fiood remained intact.
Her team submitted photographic and video evidence of the weighing to Guinness World Records, which later certified her as the official holder of the largest pot of jollof rice cooked at one time.
Hilda recalled how swiftly they had to respond, making sure the process remained credible and properly documented.

I Lost N19m In Diesel Investment at 19 – Mr Eazi

Nigerian music star and businessman, Oluwatosin Ajibade aka Mr Eazi has narrated how he lost N19m in diesel investment at the age of 19.

According to him, his lack of business experience cost him millions of naira in his teenage years.

Speaking in a recent podcast interview shared on X, the ‘Legalize’ crooner recalled losing about N19 million in a collapsed diesel supply deal when he was 19.

He explained that he had borrowed money from his uncle, a medical doctor, and his wife in Nigeria to finance the venture, which at the time seemed like a secure investment.
According to him, the plan was to purchase diesel and supply it to clients, including telecom giant MTN.
Mr Eazi stated that like many young entrepreneurs then, he relied on agents at Lagos’ Apapa port to source the product, since direct access to tank farms required bulk allocations.
However, he recounted that trouble began when the government unexpectedly deregulated fuel prices, a move that caused diesel prices to crash, leaving him and his partners with stock that quickly lost value.
The funds remained stuck for months, and the anticipated MTN deal eventually fell through.
“When I was about 19 or 20, I borrowed money from my uncle and his wife. The idea was to buy diesel and supply it. I was too confident, I told them MTN is going to pay us, bro, I’m a salesman I can sell anything.

“Everything looked legit backed by an established company, I was convinced I could sell it. But after deregulation, we had to sell the diesel at a loss. Explaining to my uncle that his life savings were gone was one of the hardest moments, and he was devastated,” he said.
While the loss was devastating, Mr Eazi said the setback turned out to be a defining lesson, describing it as the experience that shaped his resilience and sharpened his mindset for future ventures.

“It was a painful failure, but it toughened me up for the journey ahead,” he added.
The singer, who has since built a career as both a global Afrobeats sensation and a successful investor, said the episode remains a reminder of how failure can become the foundation for lasting success.
