Popular Nigerian singer, Timaya has recounted how he purchased a key holder for a Bentley at Bishop David Oyedepo’s Shiloh, despite not being able to afford the luxury ride at the time.

He shared this during a recent interview with Naija FM 102. 7, stating that one should profess positively for good things to happen in their lives.

During the interview, he had revealed that Burna Boy had sent out his female colleagues, Omawumi and Waje for doubting his belief about flying private jets.

Sharing how his own faith had brought about good fortune for him, he revealed that before he got his Bentley, he first got a key for it during Bishop Oyedepo’s Shiloh.

“Nothing Burna Boy is doing now surprises me. The guy is fearless. There was one time when Burna Boy, Omawumi and Waje were in the studio, and he [Burna Boy] started saying that a time would come when he would be getting paid to enter jet. Omawumi and Waje started doubting him because then Nigerian artists hadn’t started flying private jets. He got angry and opened the studio door and asked them to leave.

Living in Nigeria Becoming Harder – Timaya Laments

Singer Inetimi Alfred Odom aka Timaya, has cried out over the current suffering and hardship in the country.
According to him, even though the economic hardship is a global phenomenon, it’s more severe in Nigeria than anywhere else.
Timaya spoke in a recent interview with Channels Television.
“Things are really hard. I feel it for people because if people are not happy, I can’t be happy, too. I pay bills. I help a lot of people. So I understand what people are going through. I’m also feeling it [the hardship],” he lamented.

“My staff’s salaries and upkeep for family members have drastically increased because of the high cost of living.

“You don’t expect things to be normal. Even politicians are crying, too, not to talk of me. The only way you can meet up with the current economic demands is if you’re earning in dollars. If you’re earning forex and you convert it to naira, that’s how you can ball.

“Even in America right now, things are still hard there because they’re earning in dollars and spending in dollars. It’s hard everywhere. The world is hard right now, but Nigeria is harder.”
Timaya also spoke on the effects of the current economic hardship on the entertainment industry.
“Currently, you need a lot of money to promote music. Before, we didn’t even bother about shooting music videos. Even if we were shooting a video, it cost just N1.5 million.

“Now, just to shoot one video: 100 million, 50 million, 60 million. And when you shoot the video, to promote it, you need more millions. That’s why booking fees for artists now are expensive,” he said

According to him, the reason is because there are similarities between them.
Timaya spoke in a recent interview with Channels Television.
Timaya reflected on his past, acknowledging his reputation as a troublemaker and crediting his unconventional approach for his success.
He said: “That’s why I like Portable; the first time he came out, I told 2face about him on the way to Delta State. I said to him, ‘Have you heard that guy Portable?’ Zazu Zeh. That guy is just like me because I was a crazy guy.”

The singer acknowledged that while today’s Gen Z audience may see him as ‘unproblematic,’ they might not realise the wild side of his early career.
“These Gen Z’s don’t know now so sometimes when I talk, some people would be like Timaya is unproblematic. I just look at them like, if only they knew me. They say ‘Timaya minds his business’ and I say hmm. It’s now I have calmed down, I was crazy then. I was really really really crazy I was hot like fire but I think there’s growth. At the time it was a strategy for me,” he said.
He also addressed a rumor from his early career, clarifying that a reported negative encounter with military personnel was untrue.
According to him: “The story about me having a negative encounter with military men is untrue. Why would I get involved with them?

” I’m not trying to shade or disrespect anybody, but in whatever you do, you must apply wisdom or sense.

“No matter how crazy I was, it was all a strategy, even though I was crazy. I blew in the industry because at the time everyone was singing love songs and I’m from the Niger Delta, so I didn’t come as a lover boy.”

What Timaya Did After Discovering I Was Homeless – Skales

Nigerian singer, John Njeng-Njeng aka Skales has revealed what singer Timaya did after finding out that he was homeless.
According to him, Timaya broke down in tears after discovering his ordeal following his sack from the Empire Mates Entertainment, EME, record label.
Skales, during an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, said he was always working with Timaya and often sleeps in his car after the close of work.
However, his senior colleague was unaware of his predicament and felt so bad after discovering that he was homeless.
Skales further revealed that Timaya offered him his penthouse which he was not using at the time.
He said: “Yes I was homeless. wasn’t making money, as at that time, I wasn’t making money, it was only Banky and Wiz. I mean I was making money but it was not plenty. And I was also a young chap still trying to figure out life. So I’m like, I don’t have guidance, I’m just in these streets by myself, really.

“Even though, as much as I hate to blame whatever mistakes on that, but really I didn’t have no guidance, I didn’t have much money, the house I was staying, they rented it, so when the deal was off, I had to leave. You know, so I didn’t know what to do, I hit the streets and I’m not much of a going to be begging anybody for anything.

“Just still believed okay I have to keep going, I had just this Ford Explorer, my studio is my baby so I had my clothes, my shoes in the boot. I mean I didn’t have much because everything I had in the house was theirs. I could just drive to anybody’s house that’s my friend, anytime we finish work, I’ll always make sure I leave late.

“So after I finish doing work, which was mostly with Timaya, I’ll just go to my car and pass out, the next morning, I’ll probably pull up in the house like ‘Yo I want to use your bathroom, I only have my toothpaste and my brush then I’ll just go brush my teeth real quick. I was good vibes so everybody wanted me around you know. But only myself and one of my friends knew what I was going through but a lot of people didn’t know.

“So one day, Timaya found out and he actually cried, he felt so bad because I was always with them, I was always chilling, and he didn’t know what was going on. So when he found out, he was like, there’s this penthouse that he doesn’t use for anything, he now told me to move in there.”
