Superstar Afrobeats singer, Burna Boy, has opened up on why he did not want Manchester City to win the UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan.
Recall that City pipped Inter 1-0 to clinch their first-ever Champions League trophy in Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday night.
Burna Boy who made history as the first African artiste to perform at the Champions League final, spoke with Paramount+ shortly after the game.
He said he didn’t want City to win because he is a fan of their rival, Manchester United.
He said, “This was most amazing thing, even though I honestly didn’t want City to win for sentimental reasons, it’s okay.
“It is amazing performing at the UCL final.”

Davido in an interview shared on social media said that he and Wizkid were the first young Nigerian artists to hit stardom and described Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun and Asake as ‘new cats’, which implied up-and-coming artiste.
This has since generated alot of controversy from fans of both singers.
Reacting to this, Nissi shared a video from Burna Boy’s concert on her Instagram account and wrote in Pidgin English, “New cats dey face their hustle.”

Burna Boy’s concert, which was held on Saturday in the United Kingdom, UK, generated immense excitement among his fans with his performances.
The singer became the first African artiste to sell out the 80, 000-capacity London Stadium in the UK.
Confirming the report via its official Twitter handle on Saturday before the show, the London Stadium congratulated the singer for the achievement.

Rema showered accolades on Burna Boy, the Grammy award musician, following the sell-out of the 80K capacity London Stadium.
Recall that the self-acclaimed African Giant sold out the 80K capacity and set a record as the first African artiste to ever do so.
Following the feat, Rema took to his Instagram story to shower accolades on the singer for being an inspiration to upcoming singers, to the entertainment industry and to Nigeria at large.
“Big congrats Uncle B. You say African Giant & you stand on it!
“God strengthen you to keep inspiring the boys True icon. Love u OG,” he wrote.

Burna Boy graced the event donning a matching black and blue slightly checkered outfit and a generous cape-like extension of the same material flowing behind him.
Tems made a fashion statement with a custom Rober Wun dress – a black corset-like top, a flowing regal white finishing at the bottom, and elbow-length gloves.
The Oscar-nominated singer was styled by Dunsin Wright.
The 2023 Met Gala, titled “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”, also had celebrities such as Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Cardi B, Diddy, Dr. Dre, Naomi Campbell and South African comedian, Trevor Noah in attendance.
A famous American music producer, Swizz Beats disclosed the part he and his ex-wife, Alicia Keys, played in introducing Nigerian Afrobeats singers, Wizkid and Burna Boy to audiences in America.
He made this known on Amazon Music’s Roundtable audiovisual podcast. Swizz Beats stated that at a time when the genre was not yet popular in the US, he was the first to play Wizkid’s songs.
Additionally, he mentioned that he provided Burna Boy with an opportunity to perform in front of an audience in the United States before he gained widespread recognition.

“I introduced Wizkid to America. I was the first person to play his song. Me and my wife [Alicia Keys] were on a trip and we danced to his songs.
“I was [also] the first person to bring Burna Boy to the States. I introduced him on the stage. When I was playing Fela Kuti, people thought I was being too African.
“And that how ignorant the energy was at that time. But I didn’t let that stop me from moving what I’m moving because it’s what it’s. It’s about education.
We [Americans] can’t be scared of the educational journey of something that sounds different or feels different,” he stated.

Top Charts Africa, a pop magazine, curated a list of artistes whose reported single-concert revenue stood out.
The numbers, it clarified, were sourced from Bloomberg and the boxscore aggregators Touring Data and Pollstar.
In the 10-entry list, Burna Boy occupied seven slots, leaving two for Wizkid and one for Tiwa Savage.
Burna Boy’s highest-yielding concert was listed as his Madison Square Garden gig of April 28, 2022, in New York City.
The acclaimed concert at the 20,789-capacity stadium, according to the list, earned Burna Boy a whopping $1,576,641.
It was reported to have sold a total of 13,586 tickets.
Following closely is the self-acclaimed African Giant’s concert in Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam (April 14, 2022) with $1,564,720 in revenue.
The music show, which was part of the singer’s Space Drift tour, was reported to have sold a total of 17,000 tickets.
The third and fourth consecutive slots are for Washington DC’s Capital One Arena and London’s O2 Arena where the Grammy-winning megastar reported $1,434,525 and $1,347,333 respectively in concert revenue.
It is until the fifth slot that Wizkid made his first entry on the ranking with an MSG show that raked in $1,002,709.
The ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner made the sixth slot with the London O2 concert that generated $958,489, having sold a total of 16,938 tickets.
Burna Boy snagged the next three slots, leaving the 10th position for Tiwa Savage whose O2 Brixton gig earned her $344,500.
