Nigerian singer Tems has shared her thoughts on marriage, emphasizing that it should be rooted in growth and purpose rather than just emotions.

According to Tems, relationships, especially marriage, are bound to experience challenges, and individuals must be prepared for moments that may not always be pleasant.
She noted that because of the unpredictable nature of marriage, she values the importance of choosing a God-fearing partner. In her view, such a partner is more likely to be accountable and committed to making the relationship work.
“My partner has to be a God-fearing man. Because why would you truly love me if you don’t have anyone that you answer to? If you’re not accountable to anyone, how could you choose to love and keep loving me for the rest of our lives?
“If you’re the god of your life, why would you love me forever? You could just discard me anytime you want. But marriage is something that makes you better as a human being. It should. It shouldn’t be about only love, it’s about compatibility. It’s about whether a relationship makes you a better person, like it evolves you. Because marriage is a whole another level, it’s supposed to bring out the hard times,” she stated.

However, she noted that the exact stage of the illness remains unclear, as it was not explicitly stated in her medical report.
“I discovered a lump in July last year, and I was later told in early January that it was cancerous. I began preparing for a mastectomy to determine how far the condition had spread. I’m not ready to share my hospital report yet, but I will share it soon,” she said
