You’re Not Called Ijele Odogwu For Nothing – Yul Edochie Heaps Praises On Judy Austin For Supporting Him

Yul Edochie, the popular Nigerian actor, has come out to praise his second wife, Judy Austin.

He hailed Judy Austin, who on Friday, July 22, shared a video in which she slammed Nigerians accusing Yul of not mourning his first son, Kabilichukwu, enough.

Recall that Kambili sadly passed away in March this year.

Yul has received bashing from some Nigerians on social media who believe he returned to the movie scene as well as social media too early after the teenager’s death. They opined he should have mourned Kambili longer than he has.

In the video she released, Judy slammed his critics. She asked Nigerians to allow her husband to mourn his son however he wishes. She went on to ask his critics to wait until their own children die before they can start schooling others on how to mourn.

Many Nigerians including actor Uche Maduagwu have come out to slam Judy. They argue that she has no right to speak on the passing of Kambili who was born by May, Yul’s first wife.

However, in a post shared on his Instagram page this afternoon, Yul praised Judy for her ‘’show of support’ to him.

He posted the video she shared on his page with the caption.

‘’You’re not called Ijele Odogwu for nothing.

May the heavens reward and bless you.

@judyaustin1

Thank you for the support.”

Fuel Price Hike: ‘Even The Rich Are Crying’ – Singer, Yhemolee Laments

Idowu Adeyemi, the popular Nigerian actor and singer, aka Yhemolee, has lamented the way things are in the country.

He bemoaned the recent hike in fuel price and worsening economic hardship in Nigeria.

DAILY POST recalls that pump price of fuel on Tuesday skyrocketed to N612 per litre.

Reacting in a video message shared via his Instagram page on Friday, Yhemolee said even the rich were affected by the current economic crisis.

He noted that foreign currencies such as the British Pounds and the United States Dollars have gained massively against the Nigerian Naira in the exchange market recently.

He said many Nigerians could no longer go to their places of works and businesses because of the hike in pump price of fuel.

Yhemolee said, “This administration brutal o. Even the rich are crying.

“Yesterday, I spent 15 minutes from Oniru, VI [Victoria Island] to Lekki Camp, that’s almost to Epe. 15 minutes, road clear on a working day. People didn’t go out? You didn’t see petrol?

“One Pounds is now N1100, one dollar is N850. It cost me N52,000 to fill my range rover and N32,000 for my Chevrolet. That is N80,000 plus for petrol of car. And I will fill both two times in a week. N160,000 in a week for petrol times four that is N640,000 in a month.”

Actor, Baba Ijesha Marks One Year In Prison, 15 More To Go

Olanrewaju James, a popular and embattled actor, famously known as Baba Ijesha, continues to serve his jail term.

The actor, who was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment for child defilement, has spent one year of his prison term at the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos State.

He was convicted of the crime on July 14, 2022, and was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment on four of the six-count charge—indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault by penetration— preferred against him.

Recall that James was arrested on April 22, 2021, and first appeared before Magistrate P.E. Nwaka of the Yaba Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos, on July 16, 2021.

The actor was later arraigned at the Special Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Ikeja, before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, who eventually delivered the judgment. While reading her judgment, she said, “I hereby find the defendant guilty of count two to five, and he is discharged of counts one and six. The defendant is here by sentenced to five years imprisonment for count two, three years for count three, five years for count four, and three years for count five.”

The case generated a lot of attention and controversies. It also ‘divided’ the entertainment industry as some celebs supported comedian, Princess Adekoya, whose ward was the one defiled; while some empathised with Baba Ijesha.

Some of the people who were sympathetic to Baba Ijesha’s plight were Yomi Fabiyi, Bukky Black, and Lege Miami. On his part, Fabiyi maintained that the actor was ‘ambushed’ into the crime.

On the other hand, actresses, such as Iyabo Ojo Nkechi Blessing, vehemently supported Princess.

In an interview with our correspondent during the week, Fabiyi said, “First, it is difficult for me to deny knowing him. My non-governmental organisation decided to hear his side, do our own little investigation, and what we found out required us to give him a voice, as it looked like he was ‘ambushed into that misfortune’.

“There were too many questions begging for answers, as could be seen at the end of the trial, hence the appeal.”

Maintaining that he had been in constant communication with the beleaguered actor since he was committed to prison, Fabiyi said, “My first visit started from the second day he was sentenced to prison. I also ensure that I regular communicate with him in prison.”

He added, “I am not in shoes, but I am trying my best to keep his spirits high and get him not to think of suicide or any vendetta. When his father died (on May 13, 2023), it was a difficult moment.

“However, he is still bothered that the age of the girl was not proven with a birth certificate. The absence of some factors before a guilty verdict was passed gives him serious mental agony. He feels he has been unjustly punished.”

Most times during the trial, when Baba Ijesha appeared in court, he usually looked morose and dejected. On a particular day, he was seen clutching a Christian book titled, ‘How to Thrive in Perilous Times: Living Beyond the World System,’ written by Happy Caldwell.

Don Jazzy Highlights Six Pointers For Getting On Mavins

The Chief Executive Officer of Mavin Records, Michael Ajereh, who is also known as Don Jazzy. has listed some of the criteria he considers before signing any artist on his rising record label.

The music executive, who many have described as a great leader with eyes for raw talent, spoke on his six expectations in signing any talent from a creative perspective.

“Once upon a time I wouldn’t think of signing an artist that is social media savvy but now I kind of want to put it at the beginning of my list,” he began. “Talent, due diligence, mannerism, character, age at the moment is kind of important as well.”

Continuing, he said, “the people that move the market are the young ones because the older guys are busy making money for the family and are worried about their family. They don’t care about helping you to go and stream or watching your social media to know when you post but the young guys are still much into the whole culture.”

The former Vice President of the defunct Mo’Hits records, further described his definition of a successful artist as one who has or can make an impact on his immediate or extended family.

“As for me, if your life is better than you were yesterday. As long as we can make life better for you and you can in turn impact your own immediate or extended family, that’s beautiful.”
