She said she doesn’t believe in religious programmes.

According to her, if religious programmes were what a nation needs, Nigeria would have been one of the greatest countries in the world.

The reality star said Nigerians spend “too much” time praying instead of working and being good human beings.

She stated this on her Snapchat page while responding to a fan who asked why she never connects to any of the religious programmes online.

Doyin wrote: “I get a lot of those hallelujah challenge and what God cannot do doesn’t exist tags. People keep sending them to me but I just don’t believe in that type of stuff so I never join.

“It’s not bad… I just don’t believe in it.”

In another post, the reality star wrote: “If it were really by ‘hallelujah challenge’ and ‘what God cannot do’…..Nigeria should be one of the greatest countries by now. We spend too much time praying and shouting hallelujah instead of actually working and being actual good human beings.

“They will shout hallelujah finish and go back to cheating the next person they encounter or judging someone because the person presents themselves differently.

“To me, it’s just a complete waste of time but to each his own. If you believe in it then by all means. At the end of the day, all that should matter is having a good relationship with God and being a good human being.

“If you like, shout hallelujah from now till next year. If you don’t find ways to improve yourself and provide value….you’ll keep shouting hallelujah in hunger.”

I Can’t Repeat The Same Cloth – Singer, Magixx Says

Alexander Adelabu, the Nigerian singer, who is popularly known as Magixx, has opened up about the challenges he faced as a celebrity.

In a chat with Chude Jideonwo, Mavin Records signee disclosed that his busy schedule as an artiste and keeping up with public expectations put him under pressure.

He lamented that he couldn’t repeat the same cloth because of public expectations.

Magixx said, “There’s a path to every great person’s destiny. And in figuring out the path, I learned that you’ve got to go through this… I was dealing with public acceptance, family issues, accepting where I am at to improve myself, and still meeting public demands.

“It’s a whole lot. You’re still the songwriter, you’re still the person who’s going to show up for video call, you’re still the person who’s going to pick your family’s call. You’re still the person who has a love interest, you’re still the person who’s going to fly out every weekend outside Lagos to perform for people.

“It’s a lot but people don’t even know. People don’t know that I can’t repeat the same cloth. For instance, this is the last time you will see the outfit I’m currently wearing on social media. I’ve to think about the cloth to wear everyday. Normal people don’t think about those things.

“It’s a lot of pressure on artistes but people from outside don’t see that.”

Why I Don’t Believe That Artists Don’t Care About Success – Ed Sheeran

World-famous British musician Ed Sheeran has expressed his views on fellow artists who assert they’re in the music business out of passion rather than striving for success.

Appearing on a recent episode of Therapuss With Jake Shane, the ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker categorically stated that he doesn’t believe such claims.

According to him, if those artists truly don’t care about success, they wouldn’t release their music commercially or sign with record labels.

The multiple Grammy-winning singer argued that all artists want to be successful and famous, emphasising that those who say they don’t care about success only say that because it “sounds cool.”

Sheeran added that anyone in the pop scene “definitely cares” about success.

He said: “I don’t believe any artist that says they don’t, otherwise, you wouldn’t release music because you’d be like, ‘If I don’t care what people think, then why would I even put it out?’ You’d just sort of make the music and be like, ‘Well, that’s made me feel good.’

“All artists, we want to be loved. That’s why we are on stage. And that’s why you sign to a record company, to go, ‘I would like people to hear the music that I’m making.’ I don’t really subscribe to this whole, like, not caring thing. That’s all a kind of ruse, because it sounds cool to say but every artist wants people to like their music.

“It really pisses me off when people are like, ‘Oh I don’t care how it does.’ I’m like, ‘F*cking shut up! You do! Everyone does.’ Anyone in the pop game definitely cares.”

I’m Now An Upcoming Artist – D’banj Says

Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, the legendary Nigerian musician, who is popularly known as D’banj, has declared himself “a new cat” (up-and-coming artist in local parlance).

The 43-year-old singer said despite clocking 20 years in the music industry, he still feels like he is scratching the surface again, noting that the music industry has evolved over the years.

In a recent interview with Hip TV, D’banj disclosed that he would be working with some new generation artists in his upcoming album, ‘Entertainer’, which he said was a sequel to his critically acclaimed 2008 album, ‘The Entertainer’.

He also spoke on the role he played in the global acceptance of Nigerian music.

D’banj said, “I am not the first [Nigerian artist] to have done an international collaboration. We were just the first to have done it the way we did it. Usually, when you want to do a collaboration with an international artist, it seemed before ours, like they were doing you a favour. But with the kind of grace that God gave us and the kind of team that we had, we were able to deliver one of the biggest [‘Mr Endowed’].

“I think that actually gave hope and visibility to the kids [new artists] to know that they can do it. So, I feel like a very proud father if I may say. That’s why I am a cat again [up-and-coming artist]. Now, I want to feature not even international artists but local artists. I want to feature Ayra Starr, Rema, Ruger and Don Jazzy. Collaboration is the new competition.”
