Popular Nigerian musician Wizkid has proclaimed himself the leading Afrobeat artist in Nigeria.

The singer made the bold declaration amid the ongoing controversy about Nigeria’s “Top 3” singer.

“Type sht. Big Wiz. Number 1″, Wizkid wrote on a whiteboard.

I Never Felt My Place Was In Church – Nigerian Singer, Johnny Drille Reveals

Afrobeats singer and songwriter, Johnny Drille, has reflected on his musical journey, revealing how he struggled to find acceptance within the church community despite beginning his career there.

Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, the singer revealed that although he once served as a music director in church, he never truly felt his style of music belonged there.

“I didn’t feel like my music was predominantly in church. Every now and then, I get invited to churches to sing, which is kind of interesting,”
he said.

Johnny Drille also admitted that his transition from gospel to mainstream music came with backlash from some members of the Christian community.

“I’ve gotten a bit of backlash from my Christian community every now and then when they invite me to churches. But at the end of the day, the music is positive. It speaks to good things that sometimes the church doesn’t want to talk about,”
he explained.

He went on to criticise how churches often shy away from expressing love through music.

“The church shies away from talking about love. A lot of times you go for some Christian weddings and you hear Davido and Wizkid. What if the church decides that we want to start doing our own Christian love songs?” he said.

Reflecting on his early days, Johnny Drille said his time as a choir director helped shape his skills as a musician, even though he didn’t perform much at the time.

“There’s a place for worship music, right? But there’s also music about so much more that the church could be singing about. I was a music director, directing the choir, but I never really sang in front of the church. I think it helped me become the musician I am today in terms of my musicianship and performances,”
he added.

Why My Colleagues Are Envious Of Me – Nigerian Rapper, Odumodublvck

Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, better known as Odumodublvck, has alleged that several of his fellow artists are jealous of his success.

Odumodublvck insisted that the narrative that he is not lyrically gifted stemmed from jealousy.

He emphasised that he has achieved more international success than any Nigerian rapper despite claims that he is less talented than most of his colleagues.

The ‘Pity This Boy’ hitmaker claimed that some of his colleagues are jealous of him because he is both a rapper and singer.

Speaking in a recent episode of Toronto Ada’s Room podcast, Odumodublvck said, “In Nigeria, they say that my rap is not good but I’m the most featured rapper by international artists. I think it’s a thing of envy because I sing my hooks, my songs are hits and I get more bookings than them.

“The envy is deep especially when they think they are better. But we pay no mind to that. We just continue pushing for those that believe -let them continue to tune in. It’s very unfortunate for the people on the other side because this thing is not going to stop soon.”

He challenged his colleagues who are claiming that they are better than him to sell more records and shows to prove that they are the better rappers.

You Can’t Tell Me How To Grieve – Phyna Opens Up On Partying After Sister’s Burial

Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, the Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, who is popularly known as Phyna, has broken her silence following the wave of criticism she received for partying shortly after her sister’s burial.

Phyna, who lost her younger sister Ruth Otabor in an accident involving a Dangote truck in August and laid her to rest in September, recently came under fire on social media after a video surfaced of her clubbing alongside Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.

The viral clip triggered backlash from some users who accused the reality TV star of being insensitive and moving on too quickly so soon after her loss.

While Regina Daniels had earlier defended her, urging the public to stop judging others for how they grieve, Phyna had not commented on the matter until now.

Taking to her X account, the outspoken media personality shared an emotional message addressing the controversy and emphasizing that mourning is a deeply personal experience.

“Grief has no manual, no fixed face, and no timetable. The fact that I choose to keep living, smiling, or sharing moments does not erase the pain I carry.

“Respect the process, even if you do not understand it. If you cannot extend compassion, then at least extend silence,” she said.

I’m Like A Father To BBNaija Winner, Imisi – Nigerian Actor, Yomi Fabiyi Says

Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Yomi Fabiyi, has clarified that his public support for Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner, Imisi, was driven by genuine loyalty and gratitude, rather than personal interest or financial gain.

Speaking in an interview with Saturday Beats, Fabiyi said his relationship with Imisi predates her reality TV fame, describing himself as a “father figure” to the young star within the movie industry.

“I am an adult and like a father to her in the film industry. She was the only housemate I knew personally. Everything I do, she supports.

“For instance, when I had my housewarming, she stayed throughout and made sure the event went well. Supporting her during the show was simply the right thing to do,” he explained.

Fabiyi also revealed that Imisi’s entertainment journey began under his mentorship at his film academy.

“Imisi was one of my students at my film academy, and beyond that, she has always been supportive of me and my son. We used to live in the same area in Ikorodu, and she’s been helpful long before the fame,”
he said.

When asked whether he had any fears about showing support for her, given that some people he once helped had turned against him, the actor noted that he does not allow such experiences to influence his actions.

“I don’t think about things like that. Of course, in today’s social media world, some people distance themselves from those who helped them just to appear self-made. They don’t want anyone to have bragging rights over their success,”
he said.

Fabiyi, however, emphasized that he remains unbothered by such behavior.

“No matter the level of ingratitude, I don’t let it get to me. I’ll keep doing what’s right.”

BBNaija: Many Reality Stars Suffer After Show – Ex-Housemate Adekunle Says

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Adekunle Olapade, has voiced concern over the growing trend of ex-housemates becoming financially stranded after leaving the reality show.

He pointed out that despite Big Brother Naija being the biggest reality TV show in Africa, “there’s almost no success path after the show.”

This, he noted, has led to many former Big Brother Naija participants struggling financially.

Adekunle claimed that the ugly trend was due to Nigeria’s lack of a reality TV culture.

On his handle, he wrote, “Let me double down and say that BBN is the biggest reality tv show in Africa, but somehow, Nigeria does not have a Reality TV culture – there’s almost no certain success path after the show and most of the reality stars suffer for this.”

His post elicited mixed reactions.

Responding to a fan who opined that reality stars are supposed to return to their primary jobs at the end of the show, Adekunle explained that some participants are jobless and hoped to find new fortune on the show.

“A lot of the cast didn’t have 9-5s to begin with – which is why they tried to change their story by going on the show. Only a few had jobs/businesses before they went on the show. But yes, going back if things didn’t work out doesn’t sound like a bad idea,” he wrote.

Recall that activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju recently raised a similar concern, questioning if the winners of Big Brother Naija reality show are actually handed the prizes.

He claimed that a lot of the winners became poorer after the show.

I Broke Up With My Boyfriend Weeks Before BBNaija Audition – Imisi Reveals

Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner, Imisi, has revealed that she ended her relationship with her boyfriend, Hakeem, a few weeks before the show’s audition.

She made the disclosure during a post-show interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the host.

While describing the breakup as “hectic,” she refused to disclose the reason for their separation.

Imisi, who noted that she entered the house broken, stated that her ex-boyfriend influenced her “dressing and style because that’s what he liked.”

“The Imisi you saw on social media was not really me. My dressing and style were influenced by my ex, Hakeem, because that’s what he liked. He liked when I wore makeup and frontals, so I did that to please him because he was my safe place. He liked girls who looked girly, and he was the only person I had at the time.

“But we broke up on April 4, before I went for the audition in May. It was really a hectic breakup, and I didn’t have the time to heal before the show.”
