Davido Fixes New Date For Delta Concert, Mocks Pinnick Again

Singer, Davido has fixed a new date for him to perform in Warri.
This comes after missing out on the 19th edition of the Warri Again concert.
The Warri Again concert was held on October 6 to celebrate entertainers who hail from the Niger Delta region.
Amaju Pinnick, the former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), recently called out Davido for failing to show up at the concert.
Pinnick argued that Davido had received $94,600 to perform at Warri Again.
He said a chartered plane was arranged to convey the singer to Warri, which cost the state another $18,000.
Pinnick, an executive member of the world football governing body FIFA, added that the organisers eventually replaced Davido with Shallipopi.
Reacting, Davido had aimed a thinly veiled dig at the ex-NFF chief, insinuating that people who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
But in a series of fresh Instagram posts, the singer announced that he will perform for his Delta fans in December.

He also revealed that he had earlier informed the organisers about his unavailability but wondered why “they continued to promote the show using my name”.

“I will be performing in WARRI DECEMBER! I wan see who get mind stop me … body go tell u,” he wrote.
“To my lovely fans in Warri that spent their hard earned money to come out. Apologies you had to experience this. I was not going to be physically able to make it and this had been communicated to ‘them’ for a longgggg while now I mean MONTHS ago but for reasons best known to them, they continued to promote the show using my name. It’s a shame.”
He also took a swipe at Pinnick while promising to “donate money to NFF” which he argued, “has been suffering for too long”.
“If I’m returning any money I’ll return it to any football charity organization.. INFACT I will DOUBLE IT….. MR DREAM CRUSHER… imagine how many Nigerian footballers have had their dreams crushed because person one live for ikoyi by force,” he wrote.

“Warri Pple hate you! And u know! Amaju come outside let’s talk!

“I wanna donate money to @thenffofficial been suffering for too long it’s not fair … let’s do something @puma”

Tinubu’s CSU Certificate: Lawmakers Move To Regulate Fake News On Social Media

According to reports, lawmakers in the country are reportedly plotting to bring up a bill to regulate fake news on social media.

The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State, Comrade Chinedu Ogah, disclosed this while reacting to the viral claims on social media over the alleged Chicago State University (CSU) certificate forgery by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Ogah, the National Assembly would soon adopt the bill and consequently sign it into law to regulate the spread of fake news on social media in Nigeria.

Ogah stated this while addressing journalists during the weekend in Abakiliki, the Ebonyi State capital.

“We at the National Assembly will soon enact a law on fake news essentially to control social media as it is in other countries. And that is to say that whatever people say or write will be regulated. You don’t sit in your room and post whatever you think to write.

“And from my own point of view, those people calling for the resignation of President Tinubu are doing it out of hatred. They have no facts. They believe what is posted on social media. Nigeria has rules; we have a constitution that the people are subjected to,” Daily Trust quoted the lawmaker as saying.

Recall that candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar is challenging the declaration of Tinubu by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the February 25th poll.

Atiku alleged in his petitions that Tinubu forged his CSU certificate submitted to INEC for eligibility in the 2023 election.

CSU Certificate: Presidency Twists Facts To Confuse Public, Atiku Alleges

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, has alleged that the presidency twisted facts to confuse the mind of the public regarding President Bola Tinubu’s Chicago State University academic records.

The PUNCH reports that the CSU released Tinubu’s academic record to Atiku after weeks of legal tussle, and the former vice president on Friday filed the CSU documents as fresh evidence at the Supreme Court.

Atiku and Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, had filed 86 grounds of appeal at the Supreme Court to nullify the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal’s judgment that affirmed Tinubu’s victory.

The former VP in a statement by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, on Sunday, alleged that some media aides to the president have come out openly to “push back on the narrative.”

He alleged further that some media houses have persistently slanted their story to justify a corrupted interpretation of the facts in the disposition.

He insisted that Tinubu falsified a document he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission and swore an affidavit under oath to back it up.

According to him, “On page 26 of the deposition which is publicly available, the Registrar of the Chicago State University, Caleb Westberg, under oath, was asked a simple question that, “CSU has determined that it does not have a true and correct copy of the diploma issued to Bola Tinubu is 1979, correct? To which the Registrar responded, That’s correct.”

“Also, on page 27, a similar question was put to Mr. Westberg: So, CSU, after going through every diploma, was unable to find an authentic copy of any diploma that CSU issued to Tinubu in 1979. Is that correct? The CSU Registrar, in his response, said: We did not find any diploma issued by CSU in 1979 to Mr. Tinubu.”

Atiku’s aide revealed that when asked whether the CSU is aware of or in possession of the diploma that Tinubu submitted to INEC,” Mr. Westberg simply said, “Correct, we are not aware of it.”

SERAP Takes Akpabio, Others To Court For Allegedly Collecting Salaries, Pensions

Godswill Akpabio

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has initiated legal proceedings against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and nine other former governors from the 10th Senate. This legal action is in response to their simultaneous receipt of both senatorial salaries and pensions.

Joined in the suit as Respondents are the following: Abdulaziz Yari; Aminu Tambuwal; Adamu Aliero; Adams Oshiomole; Ibrahim Gaidam; Seriake Dickson; Ibrahim Dankwambo; Aliyu Wammako; Gbenga Daniel, and Dave Umahi.

In the suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/1360/2023 filed last Friday at the Federal High Court in Abuja, SERAP is seeking: “an order of mandamus to direct and compel Mr Akpabio, nine other senators and Mr Umahi to stop collecting both salaries and pensions, and to return any pensions collected to their respective state treasuries.”

The organization is also seeking an order of mandamus to direct and compel Mr Akpabio, nine other senators and Mr Umahi to clarify and disclose if they have collected and/or currently collecting both salaries and pensions as former governors.

In the suit, SERAP is arguing that: “The Seventh Schedule to the Nigerian Constitution 1999 (as amended) requires the former governors to stop collecting both salaries and pensions and to return any pensions collected.”

SERAP is arguing that, “Unless the reliefs sought are granted, the former governors would continue to both enjoy life pension packages, and collect salaries as serving public officers, and the travesty and private self-interest would continue.”

The suit filed on behalf of SERAP by its lawyers, Kolawole Oluwadare and Ms Valentina Adegoke, read in part: “The UN Convention against Corruption requires public officials to discharge a public duty truthfully and faithfully.

“The UN Convention also implicitly prohibits large severance benefits for public officials. The convention specifically in article 8 requires public officers to promote integrity and responsibility in the management of public resources.

“Paragraph 2 (a) of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers in the Fifth Schedule, Part 1 of the Nigerian Constitution provides in part: ‘a public officer shall not receive or be paid the emoluments of any public office at the same time as he receives or is paid the emoluments of any other public office.’

“According to reports, there are fourteen former governors in the Senate and as ministers who may be collecting pensions running into billions of naira from their states. The former governors include: Godswill Akpabio (Akwa-Ibom State); Adams Oshiomhole (Edo State); Adamu Aliero (Kebbi State); Dave Umahi (Ebonyi State); Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto State); and Abubakar Sani Bello (Niger State).

“Others are: Ibrahim Danwkambo (Gombe State); Danjuma Goje (Gombe State); Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara State); Gbenga Daniel (Ogun State); Aliyu Wammako (Sokoto State); Orji Kalu (Abia State); Ibrahim Gaidam (Yobe State); and Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa State). Also, there are at least seven former governors in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet who may be collecting both salaries and pensions.”

No date has been fixed for the hearing of the suit.
