Late Nigerian Singer, Mohbad’s Widow Files Legal Notice To Block Unauthorized Claims To Musician’s Estate

Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, the widow of the late Afrobeats star Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has initiated legal action to block any unauthorized claims or control over the singer’s estate.

Aloba filed a formal notice at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, urging the Probate Registry to reject any application for Letters of Administration not submitted by the lawful beneficiaries.

According to a letter dated November 19, 2025 and submitted by the law firm Salawu, Akingbolu & Co., Mohbad’s widow confirmed that she had filed Form 5 and Form 6, both of which legally bar the issuance of Letters of Administration to any party other than those recognised by law.

The correspondence, signed by I. P. Awo (Esq.), further identifies Omowunmi as the legal wife of the deceased and the mother of his only surviving child, Master Liam Aloba.

She explained that public announcements supporting the legal move were placed in two national newspapers in November 2025, warning against any: “Surreptitious or fraudulent attempts to claim the estate without proper legal process.”

Her legal team stressed that the notice already sits in court records and remains binding until the estate is duly and lawfully administered.

They added that no irregular attempt to bypass the legal process would be entertained, especially: “Given that the deceased’s lawful wife and son are still alive.”

The move comes amid ongoing public interest in the late singer’s estate, following controversies surrounding his death and family disputes over his assets.

No Ransom Was Paid For 24 Freed Students – Kebbi Govt Reveals, Says The Freed Students Are Safe

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has confirmed that all students rescued from the bandits are in stable and good condition.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi shortly after announcing their release, the governor thanked President Tinubu and all security agencies involved in the operation.

“From the information we have right now, the children are on their way back and they are all fine,” he said.

Governor Idris also insisted that no ransom was paid to secure the freedom of the 24 students.

“We checked to confirm if any ransom was paid, and from everything we gathered, no money was given. As a government, we didn’t pay a single naira, and the security officers who went to receive them also said they didn’t take any money,” he explained.

He added that the students will be handed over to their parents tomorrow.

The students were kidnapped last week from the girls’ secondary school in Maga.

The New Qualification Format Cost Super Eagles World Cup Miss – Amaju Pinnick Says

Former Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick has attributed the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, in part, to the changes in the qualification format.

He noted that the team would have qualified if the 2018 qualification structure remained in place.

He made the remarks on Monday at the Big Sport Dialogue in Ikoyi, where he faced pointed questions from the National President of the Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club, Abayomi Ogunjimi.

The exchange began when Ogunjimi asked how Pinnick had used his influence as the former first Vice President of CAF and a member of the FIFA Council to advance Nigeria’s interests, noting that the country failed to reach the World Cup during his second tenure in 2022 and is also set to miss the next edition in 2026.

Pinnick dismissed claims that the Super Eagles’ failure to reach the 2022 World Cup reflected poorly on his leadership.

According to him, Nigeria neither lost nor won over the decisive fixtures in 2022 but suffered from a qualification structure that departed from the 2018 model.

“You said we did not qualify under me. We did not lose, and we did not win,”
he said.

“If they had followed the same format they followed in 2018, where we were in the most difficult group in the history of football, with Zambia, Nigeria, Cameroon, Algeria, we had two games to spare and qualified for the World Cup.”

Pinnick pointed to several key results during his tenure as evidence of progress, recalling victories against Argentina and Poland, as well as a competitive performance against England. He also said he played a central role in negotiating the design of the current national team jersey with Nike.

“During our period, we beat Argentina. We beat Poland in Poland. We played in England, and England struggled against us,”
he added.

“This jersey you are seeing today, I sat with Nike, and I told them to freestyle,”
he said.

Pinnick declined to list specific interventions but said his period in office ensured Nigeria secured significant representation across CAF and FIFA committees, describing it as unprecedented.

“What I can tell you is that during my period as a member of the CAF Council, I had a minimum of twenty-five Nigerians in various committees. That was unprecedented,”
he said.

He said there were matters he preferred not to disclose publicly, but maintained that those familiar with his work understood the extent of his contributions.

Pressed further on whether those positions translated into benefits for the country, Pinnick cautioned that some achievements were not for public disclosure.

“There are some things that are better left unsaid. Those who know, know.”

“Today, we have Nigerians in the FIFA ethics committee and in top positions. We have Aisha Falode in the FIFA media committee.”

“A lot of Nigerians did not get there by chance. People were there before me, but I don’t criticise.”

He said he welcomed difficult questions and emphasised that scrutiny was healthy.

“I will not begrudge anybody, because if we do not ask the most difficult questions, we will not move from one point to the other,” he said.

Pinnick said he remained committed to supporting Nigeria despite the team’s setbacks and noted that his current role as vice president of the committee for the 2026 World Cup placed him in a position that was “not just critical for Africa but critical to the world”, even though Nigeria will not be present at the tournament.

He concluded by urging Nigerians to place greater emphasis on achievements rather than persistent criticism, saying that dwelling on shortcomings hindered collective progress.

“We should be emphasising only the positives. We only emphasise negatives, and it does not take us anywhere in this country,”
he said.

How President Tinubu Reacted To The Release Of 24 Kebbi Schoolgirls

President Bola Tinubu has expressed relief and gratitude over the safe return of the 24 schoolgirls kidnapped by terrorists in Maga, Kebbi State, last Monday.

Recall that terrorists struck the school at dawn on November 17 and abducted the girls, moments after a military detachment left the premises.

The Kebbi incident triggered other copycat kidnappings in Eruku, Kwara State, and Papiri, Niger State.

It was reported that all 38 kidnapped victims in Eruku were freed on Sunday.

On the same day, the Niger State chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria said 50 of the missing students of the Catholic school in Niger had been found in their parents’ homes.

Bayo Onanuga, the spokesperson to the President, said that Tinubu has applauded the security agents for their efforts in securing freedom for all the victims taken away by the terrorists.

He further tasked the security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the remaining students still being held captive.

“I am relieved that all the 24 girls have been accounted for. Now, we must put as a matter of urgency more boots on the ground in the vulnerable areas to avert further incidents of kidnapping,” Tinubu said, according to Bayo Onanuga.

“My government will offer all the assistance needed to achieve this,”
President Tinubu said.

Chelsea 3-0 Barcelona: Estevao delivers statement performance in brutal Champions League routing

Chelsea executed a high-impact, confidence-building demolition of Barcelona on Tuesday night Champions League, setting a strong tone ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal.

In a contest stripped of real jeopardy by the bloated league-stage format, the Blues still treated it like a marquee occasion, dominating from start to finish and showing a level of operational efficiency Barcelona simply couldn’t match.

Despite having three goals ruled out, Chelsea overwhelmed the Spanish champions, who were undone by their own errors and the brilliance of 18-year-old Estevao.

The Brazilian delivered a decisive second-half strike and outshone his hyped counterpart, Lamine Yamal, who endured a torrid evening on and off the pitch.

Chelsea take control as Barcelona implode

The evening’s turning point came courtesy of Barcelona captain Ronald Araujo, whose reckless two bookings before the interval crippled his side.

Already trailing to a Jules Kounde own goal, Barca’s discipline collapsed, handing Chelsea full command of the match.

Estevao, previously most effective from the bench, showed maturity beyond his years, repeatedly stretching Barcelona’s structure and dictating tempo on the flank.

His goal, a blistering near-post finish after outmuscling Pau Cubarsi and slipping ahead of Alejandro Balde, validated the hype surrounding him.

Liam Delap later added a composed third, securing his first Champions League goal after a successful VAR review.

Chelsea’s tally of three disallowed goals showed their territorial dominance. Fernandez twice put the ball in the net only to see both wiped out, and Santos suffered a similar fate just moments before Estevao’s breakthrough.

Barcelona outgunned, outpaced, and outthought

Hansi Flick’s side struggled to maintain coherence throughout. Defensive misalignments, porous midfield spacing, and an erratic press made them easy prey for Chelsea’s vertical transitions.

Yamal’s withdrawal late on, amid mocking chants from the home crowd, summed up Barca’s night.

Chelsea, meanwhile, showed depth and tactical flexibility. Enzo Maresca’s decision to deploy Pedro Neto as a false nine facilitated fluid rotations that constantly disrupted Barcelona’s defensive reference points.

Cucurella, Garnacho, James, and Santos all contributed high-impact moments, while Robert Sanchez survived a shaky early moment to settle well.

Momentum for Arsenal clash

Chelsea’s six-point gap to Arsenal remains, but the strategic value of this performance is undeniable.

Sunday presents another test when they face Arsenal in a title race encounter.

My 2021 Facial Injury Is Still Affecting How I Eat — Victor Osimhen Opens Up (Video)

Super Eagles and Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has opened up about the lasting impact of the facial injury he sustained in 2021, explaining why he still wears a protective mask four years later.

In a video shared on X on Tuesday by user AsakyGRN, the 26-year-old told Turkish outlet Fanatik that nerve damage from the injury still affects his ability to eat.

“Now, I only eat on the right side of my face,” he said. “I can’t eat through the other side. The left side doesn’t function properly anymore.”

Osimhen sustained the injury in November 2021 during a Serie A match between Napoli and Inter Milan after a collision with Milan Škriniar.

He suffered multiple facial fractures, including a broken cheekbone and eye socket, and required 18 screws and a titanium plate during reconstructive surgery.

Doctors initially feared he could lose vision in his left eye. Although he recovered, he said he has continued to experience numbness, and limited movement on the left side of his face.

Recalling the incident, he said, “A cross came in from the wing. I went up for the header, and he pulled his head back. It wasn’t intentional, but I hit his skull with my chin and the bone shattered everywhere.

“They took me to a hospital in Milan. First, they checked with X-ray, then they ordered an MRI. The doctor said, ‘You need surgery.’ I refused at first — ‘There’s no way I’m having surgery.’ But it was the only way to continue playing football. I had no choice.”

He added, “I still feel numbness and sometimes pain. When I smile, only one side of my mouth moves fully. Eating is the biggest daily reminder; food falls out if I try to use the left side.”

Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 15 appearances across competitions this season.

The protective mask, originally prescribed after surgery, has remained part of his equipment due to the lasting effects of the injury.
