BBNaija Star, Tacha Blasts Content Creator, Lawrence Alabi Over Arrest Of ‘Banger Boy’

Natacha Akinde, a former Big Brother Naija housemate and media personality who is popularly known as Tacha, has criticized content creator Lawrence Alabi for turning the arrest of an upcoming creator and social media troll, known on 𝕏 as “Small Ralph” (@Churlah), into online content.

Small Ralph is also called ‘Banger Boy’ online due to incessant trolling and social media attacks.

The controversy began after Lawrence Alabi arrested ‘Banger Boy’ over alleged cyberbullying and defamatory posts targeted at him and his wife.

While many netizens agreed that Alabi had the right to seek legal redress, the situation quickly escalated after videos of ‘Banger Boy’s’ arrest surfaced online, with some Nigerians stating that he was being humiliated.

Reacting to the situation, Tacha, in a post via 𝕏,  condemned the humiliation of ‘Banger Boy’, insisting that while the law should take its course, public shaming was unnecessary and dangerous.

According to the reality TV star, Nigerians often use power or influence to oppress others once they ‘make it’.

She said, “We are the biggest hypocrites to ever exist. We can all agree that the Nigerian dream is to make it well enough to oppress another Nigerian.

“You live in the uk you know with a billion pounds you can’t do this.

“Sue the boy; I don’t care. But what you won’t do is humiliate him.

“If anybody can get me the boy’s contact, send a DM or drop a comment. We will get him out, and the boy in question will still face the law. But what you won’t do is humiliate him.”

Nigerian Actress, Ini Edo Replies CAN Over ‘A Very Dirty Christmas’ Movie Controversy

Ini Edo, the Nollywood actress and film producer, has denied claims that her movie title, A Very Dirty Christmas, was meant to demean Christianity or disrespect the Christmas season.

Earlier, 626Blaze reported that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) recently raised concerns about the title of Ini’s movie, calling it offensive to Christian beliefs.

The association said the title conflicts with the sacred meaning of Christmas, a season that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ and represents peace, love, and purity.

CAN stated that linking the holy season with the word “dirty” undermines its spiritual significance and turns a solemn religious celebration into something crude.

While acknowledging the importance of creative freedom in art and film, the association insisted that such freedom should be exercised responsibly, particularly in a religiously diverse country like Nigeria.

In response, Ini Edo, in a statement released on Thursday, explained that the film was created to spark reflection and conversation, not to cause offence.

She noted that all regulatory requirements were met before the film’s release, including approvals from the National Film and Video Censors Board (MFVCB) and the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC).

While describing herself as a devout Christian, Ini Edo stressed that neither she nor the production team intended to ridicule Christianity or the essence of Christmas.

According to the thespian, the film’s title was metaphorical and tied to the story, adding that she was surprised that objections were raised only after the film had been released and approved.

The statement reads, “Art, at its highest form, is meant to provoke thought, spark conversation, and reflect the complexities of human experience. It is in this spirit that A Very Dirty Christmas was created.

“Prior to the release of this film, all legal and regulatory requirements governing motion pictures in Nigeria were fully complied with, including securing the appropriate approval from the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), amongst others.

“At no time was there any intention to demean, ridicule, or dishonour Christianity, the Christmas season, or the values held dear by millions of Nigerians.

“I am a devout Christian. My faith is deeply personal to me, and it guides my values, my choices, and my life. I would never knowingly create or associate myself with any work that seeks to misrepresent, disrespect, or undermine my religion or the essence of Christmas.

“The title of the film is metaphorical, reflecting the story being told and the realities explored within it. Christmas, while sacred, is also a season that often reveals the contrast between appearance and truth, joy and struggle, virtue and human imperfection.

“It is therefore surprising that reservations are only being expressed after the film has been released and duly approved by the appropriate regulatory authority.

“I acknowledge the concerns raised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and I respect the important role faith plays in our society.”

It’s Shameless! – Mikel Obi Slams NFF Over Super Eagles’ AFCON 2025 Preparations

Former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has slammed Nigeria’s preparations for AFCON 2025, accusing the Nigeria Football Federation of mismanagement just weeks ahead of the tournament.

Speaking on his ObiOne podcast, Mikel said he was deeply unimpressed by the state of preparations for the finals in Morocco, which kick off on Sunday.

He questioned how a national team coach could still be owed salaries at such a sensitive moment for Nigerian football.

“I’m not impressed at all with the preparation. After everything that happened with the World Cup qualifiers, you would expect things to be better,” said Mikel, who has previously called for the resignation of the NFF board following Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

“How do you owe a coach money at this stage? It’s shameless! This is not how serious football nations operate. When issues like this are in the public space, it affects everyone, the coach, the players and even the fans.

“This was supposed to be the time to save face and show that lessons were learned. Instead, it’s the same story again. You can’t go into the AFCON with unresolved problems. Everything must be sorted now. Nigeria deserves better. Our football deserves better.”

Reports had claimed that Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle was owed three months’ salary and bonuses by the NFF ahead of the 2025 AFCON.

However, Naija News reports that the National Sports Commission chairman, Shehu Dikko, revealed on Monday that the commission had stepped in to cover Chelle’s wages, despite not being a party to his contract.

“The NSC have been paying the salaries of Eric Chelle (Super Eagles coach) on behalf of the NFF even though we’re not a party to the contract,” Dikko said on Arise Television. “This is part of our support to the NFF.”

Nigeria will compete in Group C at AFCON 2025 alongside Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania, with their opening fixture against Tanzania scheduled for December 23 in Fès.

The Super Eagles head into the tournament on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Egypt in their only pre-AFCON friendly, played on Tuesday in Cairo.
