It’s Unfair to Exclude Tems From Afrobeats Big 3 – Tiwa Savage

Famous Nigerian songstress Tiwa Savage has stated that it is unfair not to include Tems in the list of Afrobeats’ top three artistes.
Recall that the‘Big 3’ is widely used to refer to the male trio Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid.
Tiwa argued that the narrative turns a blind eye to the outstanding achievements of leading women in the Afrobeats genre.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, she challenged the exclusionary labelling of female singers and insisted that Tems deserves top-tier recognition.
“Think about it, Certain types of artistes get paid more. So, they get the opportunity to spend more on influencers and radio play so you are going to hear their music way more.

“Also, I feel like it is unfair to have a conversation about the Top 3 and not mention someone like Tems. Are you serious?” she asked.
Tems rose to fame in 2020 after her collaboration with Wizkid on ‘Essence’.
She earned her first Grammy in 2023 for her contribution to ‘Wait For U’ in 2022.
In 2025, Tems received her second Grammy Award in the ‘Best African Performance’ category.

You Boast About Excess Revenue, But Retirees Are Protesting Over Unpaid Gratuities, Pensions – Peter Obi Blasts Tinubu

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections has lambasted President Bola Tinubu over failure to pay salaries and gratuities of retirees.
Speaking in a post on his official X handle on Thursday, Obi urged the federal government to show sensitivity and compassion to the suffering masses by deploying resources to critical areas that will help to create jobs to alleviate the people’s hardships.
Obi, who lamented that critical economic players and their associated institutions were undergoing a serious dearth of funds, stressed that some of them were even protesting as they could not meet their banks’ and staff needs.

“Why are retired public servants, including service men and women who have risked their lives for the nation, still protesting over unpaid gratuities and pensions?

“It is shameful that those who built this nation with their sweat, those who defended it with their lives, and those who have fulfilled their contractual obligations are reduced to begging for what is rightfully theirs, even after the government boasts of excess revenue,” he wrote.

Why I’m Having Sleepless Nights – Wike To FCT Sen Ireti Kingibe

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has admitted that he is losing sleep over the need to deliver projects in the capital city and surrounding satellite towns.

Wike disclosed that the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, and former FCT Senator, Philip Aduda, have been on his neck on the need to carry out developmental projects across the capital city and its satellite towns.

The minister spoke on Wednesday during the flag-off of the reconstruction and dualisation of Karu Road, from Karu Interchange to Customs Clinic Junction, and other Karu township roads.

Mocking the FCT Senator, Ireti Kingibe, Wike said getting the government to commit to developmental projects is not about “grammar” but relationship.

According to Wike: “When you have the opportunity to relate with your people, you relate with them well. It’s not grammar; grammar does not bring projects, it’s relationship with people.

“It’s not to say that I’m a senator and nobody is inviting me. What we are talking about is to bring something to the people, dividends of democracy.

“Senator Philip Aduda, who has been somebody of the people, so last night he came to me and said, ‘Sir, this is an opportunity. Now that you are doing this Karu dualisation, there are some other small roads, if you join them, it will open the whole of Karu.’ And so, because I know that he means well for his people and talks well about his people, I conceded to him.

“And so, the people of Karu, this is your turn and we will make sure you get the benefit that you are entitled to. We have added these other roads to the roads we are doing now.”

Wike promised that the FCT Administration will rebuild Customs Clinic Junction to CBN Quarter Junction, rebuild immediately Customs Clinic Junction to EFCC, rebuild NIA Quarters Road, rebuild Pasi Road, and also rebuild Primus Hospital Road.

The minister declared that the roads would boost business and economic activities around the Karu area.

He added: “Business opportunities will thrive here. We are not just doing these roads, they will have street lights, and I have ordered the contractor to complete them within 10 months.

“The essence of Renewed Hope Agenda is to bring back hope to the people. I will be coming here very often to inspect these projects because it’s one of the projects we have lined up that our people must enjoy during the third-year anniversary of Mr. President. Let Karu be the city that everybody will be talking about.”

Wike further charged residents to remember Maikalangu and Tinubu during elections following the execution of these projects.

“Now that the Renewed Hope Agenda and the government of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is fulfilling his promise, I hope that when the time comes we will also fulfill our own promise, no be so?

“I also hope that you will remember the man who does not allow me to sleep, Maikalangu. Remember him when the time comes,” he added.

You Are Yet to Recover From Defeat, Can’t Influence Tinubu’s Votes – APC tells Marafa

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lashed out at former Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa.
This comes after Marafa claimed he delivered one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 election.
The party described his comments as empty boasting.
In a statement issued in Gusau on Wednesday, APC chairman in the state, Alhaji Tukur Umar Danfulani, said Marafa had no record of electoral strength, stressing that President Tinubu’s votes in Zamfara came through the party’s structures and respected leaders, not individuals.
“The truth is that Marafa was voted out of the Senate by his own constituents in 2019, and he has yet to recover from that political defeat.

“Even during the 2023 polls, he made baseless claims that had no bearing on the outcome of the elections.

“Marafa could not even win his own constituency elections, talk less of securing one million votes for President Tinubu,” Danfulani said.
“Those votes came because of the people’s faith in our party and the leadership of figures like Bello Matawalle, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, and others who have carried our members along.”
He added that Marafa’s recent threats to withhold votes in 2027 were baseless, pointing out that the former senator had lost relevance in Zamfara politics.
“It is laughable that Marafa, who could not win even his ward or local government, now claims he has the power to reduce Tinubu’s votes,” Danfulani said.
“The truth is, he is a frustrated politician who failed to secure positions and now resorts to propaganda.”
The APC chairman maintained that the party remains strong and united in Zamfara, citing its recent victory in the Kaura Namoda South State Assembly bye-election as proof of continued grassroots support.
He urged members to disregard Marafa’s statements, insisting that the APC’s strength lies in its collective leadership and the confidence of the electorate.
“His unguarded utterances are just out of frustration of losing election and his inability to secure appointments in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration. Ordinarily, if not because he touched the President in his uncivilised manner, we would not have responded to a lower and rejected politician like him.”
