Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, has taken a swipe at Finidi George, who has resigned as the head coach of Nigeria.
It is claimed that Finidi accused Osimhen of pulling out of games for the national team with minor injuries.
Osimhen, who netted 15 goals for Napoli in Serie A this season, claims he suffered an ankle injury against Lecce on May 25.
And although he was planning to travel to the Super Eagles camp ahead of their two 2026 World Cup qualifiers, he was told not to by Finidi.
In an Instagram Live video, Osimhen said he would not accept disrespect and opened up on why he was not taking part in the World Cup Qualifiers.
He said;
: “I won’t let anyone believe anything about me.
“I don’t just address anything, everybody knows when I play for Nigeria I play my heart out, I just let everything go.
“But I won’t take disrespect from anybody
“I’ll share the screenshot and videos of my conversation with Finidi for the sake of those believing what Finidi said.
“I’ve lost respect for that man because before I disrespect anybody, I always respect them.”
Victor Osimhen, a football player from Nigeria, has created history.
After scoring three goals against Sassuolo, he has now matched the scoring record set by the late, great Argentina captain Diego Maradona at Napoli.
On Wednesday, February 28, Osimhen scored his second hat-trick in Serie A as Napoli defeated Sassuolo 6-1 on the road.
For the Italian league winners, the Super Eagles striker has now scored in his previous three games.
Additionally, he has increased his league campaign total to 11 goals in 15 games.
His 10 league goals came after his second goal against Sassuolo, which gave Napoli a 3-1 lead.
Osimhen is currently the third player in Napoli’s history to score ten goals or more in four different seasons.
Maradona accomplished that between 1984 and 1988, and Attila Sallustro did the same for the Partenopei between 1929/30 and 1932/33, if one goes all the way back to 1929.
In front of the 2023 AFCON championship match, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has given fellow national Victor Boniface assurances that the Super Eagles will maintain their focus.
Ivory Coast and Nigeria will compete for the continental trophy.
In their conversation, Boniface asked to be given two “oloshos” (prostitutes) for every Super Eagles player. Victor Osimhen, however, promptly corrected him, emphasizing that he and his colleagues are committed on taking home the AFCON championship in 2023.
When Osimhen subsequently enquired about Boniface’s level of fitness, the 23-year-old striker said that he is still struggling to get back to full health.
“Make them give Pere Nwa two Oloshos each for this night, una deserve am,” stated Boniface.
In response, Osimhen said, “Thunder, fire you. We don’t give up until we succeed, you hear?
In tomorrow’s Semi-Final match at the upcoming AFCON 2023, Super Eagles attacker Victor Osimhen will play against South Africa.
Osimhen reportedly received permission from the team’s medical staff to participate in the game, according to TheNation.
Note that due to stomach trouble, the Super Eagles did not have their star striker with them on Monday night’s trip from Abidjan to Bouaké.
Once the incident was confirmed by the team’s media officer, Babafemi Raji, a member of the medical team stayed behind in Abidjan to accompany him while the team medics kept him under strict observation.
Osimhen will join his teammates in Bouake after being cleared to play, according to reports in Abidjan, and he is anticipated to play in the match.
Striker for Napoli has played a significant role.
Didier Drogba, the world-renowned Chelsea legend, celebrated with Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen after Nigeria secured a 2-0 victory over Cameroon in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) round of 16 on Saturday night.
Osimhen gave an impressive display in Nigeria’s attack, as two goals from Ademola Lookman sealed the victory for Jose Peseiro’s side against Cameroon.
The 25-year-old has been the subject of intense speculation over his club’s future after Napoli owner Aurelio de Laurentiis announced a few days ago that he would leave the Serie A champions at the end of the season.
On Saturday, reports claimed that Osimhen had already decided to join Chelsea at the end of the season.
Later that night, Osimhen met up with one of Chelsea’s legendary strikers, Drogba at AFCON, where he was congratulated by the Ivorian after Nigeria defeated Cameroon.

Osimhen will now hope to lead Nigeria to victory when they tackle Angola in the AFCON quarter-final on February 2.
Nageria star striker, Victor Osimhen has reacted after winning Serie A Player of the Year Award for the 2022/2023 season.
He thanked his family and friends for standing by him.
Recall that the 24-year-old forward was officially crowned as the Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC) Footballer of the Year after a marvellous season in front of goal for Napoli at the AIC Oscar del Calcio Awards late on Monday night.
Reacting to his latest achievement on his Instagram page, Osimhen thanked the award organisers for his selection with kind words for his family and legion of fans, saying: “Thank you @grangadelcalcioaic for the recognition and awards, thank you my family, friends and supporters for your votes and unending support.
