Young Artistes Have Reduced Quality Of Music – Korede Bello Says

Korede Bello, the popular Nigerian singer, has said that young artistes have reduced the quality of music coming out of the country.

The 28-year-old spoke in a recent episode of Hip TV’s programme Trending, hosted by reality star KimOprah.

According to him, young artists lack the experience to make quality music.

He claimed that the younger an artist attains stardom, the more the quality of their music declines.

Bello said, “When you start to have young artists blowing up, the quality of the music starts to reduce because they don’t have quality experiences.

“They don’t know how to live yet. Young people don’t yet know how to live, they just know that they are living. They want to live large, so that’s what they’re going to sing about.

“If you listen to an African China, where he’s coming from, he has seen things. Timaya, Fela—all have experiences. Their songs are expressions of reality.

“We should not blame these young artists; you can only give what you have.”

I Was Feeling Like A Product – Korede Bello On Why He Left Mavins Records

Korede Bello, the popular Nigerian singer, has opened up on why he left Don Jazzy-led Mavins Records.

Recall that Bello signed with Mavins in February 2014 but exited the label in 2021.

Speaking in a recent interview with Hip TV hosted by reality star KimOprah, the singer revealed that he left Mavins because he felt like a product that was just there to make money.

He said,
“I was at a season in my life where I needed to metamorphose, to explore my inner worth, to do introspection, understand myself, understand meaning more, and reconnect to my why.

“Because I was at a stage where I started to feel like a product that is just there [at Mavins Records] to make money.

“You lose sight of what matters when you chase after the next hit, after the next whatever it is that can get you into conversations. So a lot of artists are addicted to that circle.”

My Father, Environment Influenced My Smoking Habit – Singer Korede Bello

Popular singer, Korede Bello, has spoken about how he grew up watching his father smoke cigarettes.

He made this known while featuring on a recent episode of the ‘Say My Piece’ podcast hosted by media personality cum actress Omotunde Adebowale David, also known as Lolo1.

Korede said as a child, he used to witness his father smoking, and despite sending him on errands to buy cigarettes, he (his father) warned him against smoking.

The singer said he was smoking but eventually gave up the habit after discovering that it wasn’t his “thing.”

He explained that because of his father’s advice and his experience, he developed a mindset that smoking is unhealthy.

He said, “I tried weed before but it’s not my thing. Very early on in my life, I mean not in my life like when I was a child, but it was just something that people did around me also and this is something about myself I have a very addictive personality so whatever I find pleasurable, it can turn into an addiction.

“My dad used to smoke a lot of cigarettes and as a child, he used to send me to get him cigarettes. I noticed something then, he used to cough a lot so I’d ask him ‘Daddy why are you coughing?’ and he’d tell me ‘It’s because of the cigarette. So if you don’t wanna cough like me, don’t smoke’.”

More Important Than Winning a Grammy Is Bringing Joy To Fans – Korede Bello

Singer Korede Bello, from Nigeria, declared that he would rather make people happy than win a Grammy.

He claims that he values making people happy more than winning any accolades.

That’s what he said in a recent interview.

The Godwin hitmaker stated in the interview that Nigerian musicians shouldn’t base their legitimacy on international accolades like the Grammys.

“There is a common pidgin saying that roughly translates to ‘one will eat where they work,'” he said. As artists, validation for our work is something we “eat” in large quantities. It is fantastic to get your great art recognized. And that has the potential to greatly inspire others to create better art.

In my view, an artist is already a winner when they make it to the nomination list for a significant prize. Everything else is arbitrary. But I think that rewards should come before awards.

Returns on investment or commercial success are two possible forms of rewards. In this manner, one is assured that the quality of their efforts will determine their results. Honors are nice, but there’s nothing greater than knowing that your work brings joy to a large number of people.

Regarding the strangest location from which he has drawn inspiration, Korede declared, “There is no place that is too weird to draw inspiration from, in my opinion.” Everything can serve as inspiration because everything is art. An exquisite “place” to make art is in pain.

I’ve Never Experienced Depression – Korede Bello

Nigerian singer Olukorede ‘Korede‘ Bello has spoken about depression.
He said that he has never experienced depression.
According to TheNation, the 27-year-old entertainer said he only knew about depression based on its definition, though he is deeply involved with advocating for mental health.
Best known for his hit single “Godwin”, a semi-gospel and pop song which became a national anthem and topped many music charts across Nigeria, Bello suggested he sometimes had to deal with waves of emotion.
He noted that he tries everything possible to safeguard his internal environment from being impacted adversely.
Speaking in an interview with TheCable, he said: “I advocate for mental health but I don’t know what depression is.

“When I say I don’t know what depression is doesn’t mean I don’t know what the theoretical definition is. I don’t know what it means to say I’m depressed.

“I know that there are times when I go through some waves of emotion, I just try to protect my internal environment as much as I can.
“There will be times where obviously things do not go as you expect. I’m proactive with my mental health so I don’t let myself get to that place because it probably will be really bad if I ever get there.”
