David Adeleke, the popular Nigerian singer, who is also known as Davido, has said he doesn’t regard cannabis, commonly called weed, as a hard drug.
The singer stated this while discussing his foundation’s planned donation to orphanages and fight against drug abuse on the latest episode of The Morning Hustle podcast.
Davido said some people are accusing him of being a hypocrite for donating to fight against drug abuse while still smoking weed but he doesn’t regard weed as a hard drug.
He said: “This year, I’m donating to the fight against drug abuse among youths. I don’t count weed as a hard drug. Some people are saying I smoke weed but I don’t count weed as a drug.
“A lot of people have been going through a lot recently. Drug addiction is becoming rampant. So I want to donate to that cause to help them quit.”
Nigerian Afrobeats star, Davido has applauded Belgium for its new law that upholds the labour rights of commercial s3x workers like every other profession.
Belgium became the first country in the world to pass the new law that protects s3x workers and makes sure they are entitled to maternity leave, sick days, pensions, health insurance, formal employment contract, safety protections and more.

He emphasized the singer’s success and crew, clarifying misconceptions about competing with any Afrobeats counterparts for money.
In his remarks, he stated, “We make music, no toxicity. We are just living it; we no follow una drag anything o. We don’t need money, bro, we’ve got a lot.”

It is worth noting that Afrobeat star, Wizkid has since been on a rampage on X (formerly Twitter), ranting about his opposition. In a series of now-deleted posts, Wizkid had wished for his opposition to die.

Speaking at the ‘Elevate Africa’ programme, the singer claimed that he has 14 presidents’ phone numbers.
He explained that his music has opened so many doors for his family.
He said, “Aside from my dad’s businesses and wealth, I know how many doors my music has opened for my family. Yes o, forget the money. I have 14 presidents’ phone numbers. I can call them directly.
“In every country we go to, the president wants to meet us. That’s also promoting our culture. It’s an amazing feeling.”

The singer decided to put ‘Nigeria on his head’ after he was called out for a recent interview abroad where he spoke about the poor state of Nigeria’s economy.
The singer shared a photo of him wearing a durag in the colour of the Nigerian flag.
He wrote: “I Dey go do interview nw … fully representing (Nigeria). Say make I kuku put am for head.”
This comes after he received heat for granting an interview to a US station where he spoke about the poor state of the Nigerian economy and inflation.
Award-winning singer, Davido has shipped his luxury vehicles, a Rolls Royce and a Tesla Cybertruck, to Nigeria.
The singer shared a glimpse of the journey on his social media, as his pristine white Rolls Royce was seen on the tarmac, ready for shipment. Another image revealed the Tesla Cybertruck being loaded onto an aircraft, further confirming the vehicles’ transfer to Nigeria.
Close associate and businessman, Cubana Chief Priest, also celebrated the new cars by posting on Instagram.
He praised Davido’s accomplishments, calling him the “GOAT” and hinting at a grand December with the new additions to the singer’s impressive car collection.

David Adeleke, the famous Afrobeats singer, who is also known as Davido, has claimed that Odumodublvck is currently the biggest rapper in Nigeria.
He made the claim while discussing his upcoming album and lead single on the American podcast, The Baller Alert Show.
Davido disclosed that his next album will arrive in the first quarter of 2025.
He also revealed that he would be releasing another lead single titled ‘Funds’ featuring Odumodublvck and Chike, soon.
“I will be releasing my new album next year. I’m trying to make real African records. I have another lead single coming out soon titled ‘Funds.’
Nigerian singer, Davido has revealed that his American counterparts, Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj are fans of the African culture.
According to him, both artists have a deep appreciation for the continent’s music and culture.
Speaking in a recent interview with Hot 107.9 FM in Atlanta, Davido shared that Brown and Minaj prefer incorporating Afrobeats into their collaborations with him rather than sticking to Western styles.
“My recent collaboration with Nicki Minaj, ‘If It’s Okay,’ has a lot of Afrobeats influence because she wanted full African flavor on it. These days, foreign artists want to do our musical styles, so it is easier for me to work with them,” he said.
“When we were recording ‘Sensational’ with Chris Brown, I was trying to make it American, but he insisted I include Afrobeats. He asked me to sing in Pidgin. My dancers were the video vixens in ‘Sensational.’ They even went on tour with Chris Brown. Chris Brown loves African culture, and Nicki does too.”
Chris Brown has collaborated with numerous African artists, including Davido, Wizkid, Rema, Fireboy, and Lojay. He has also toured with Ayra Starr and South Africa’s Tyla.
Nicki Minaj has worked with Mr. Eazi, Davido, and Skales.
