Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr’s lyrics from her song, ‘Rush’ has appeared on a university question paper.
A shocked student of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa made the revelation on social media.
According to the Kenyan student simply identified as Muregzzz, she had prepared vigorously for the exam by depriving herself of any form of entertainment only to see a question solely based on a song.
She wrote, “Imagine this, youve studied the whole semester for a unit depriving yourself of any form of enterinment even music and hujawai skia rush by ayra starr, you walk into an exam room and this is what you see”

I Was Going Through A Lot – Ayra Starr Reveals Why She Wasn’t Performing Well On Stage

Popular Nigerian singer/songwriter, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, aka Ayra Starr, has opened up on why she had terrible live performances some months ago.

Recall that the ‘Sability’ crooner was heavily criticized some months ago for being a terrible vocalist after videos of her performing live went viral on the internet.

But appearing on the latest episode of the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast hosted by Joey Akan, Ayra Starr said she was going through a lot during that period.

According to her, she couldn’t sing for two months but was still forcing herself to perform.

She said, “I think for me I was not properly taking care of my voice. I was not doing vocal warm ups at all.

“Sometimes I’m not even talking at all, then I’m just on stage and I’m shouting and singing. I couldn’t properly sing for like two months. And I was performing everyday still with that voice.

“So, people literally were like, Ayra cannot sing. I’m like, it is not as if I can not sing o, I’m going through a lot.”

Popular Nigerian singer/songwriter, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, aka Ayra Starr, has fired back at critics attacking her over her choice of outfits.

Recall that the “Sability” crooner has come under heavy criticism on social media for her scanty dressing.

But in a recent interview with Kiss FM, London, Ayra Starr said her critics don’t have the right to advise her.

According to her, only her pastor, mother and Jesus can advise her on what to wear.

She said: “You are not my pastor, you are not Jesus, you are not my mother, so keep it to yourself. I don’t wanna know. I don’t give a damn.”

She revealed on the show that she would be joining the fashion industry in the future.

My Mum, Aunt, Rihanna Inspire My Dress Sense – Ayra Starr

Nigerian singer, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, also known as Ayra Starr has credited her mother and American singer/businesswoman, Rihanna as her fashion influencers.

The ‘Sability’ crooner, disclosed this in a recent interview with Kiss FM, London, United Kingdom.

On where she got her sense of style from, she said, “It’s everywhere. You know, people inspire me. Everybody inspires me. All the baddies on the gram. All the sabi girls. Everybody; my mum, my aunty, Rihanna.”

She also revealed plans to join the fashion industry in the future.

“Definitely, I was gonna do fashion before I was gonna do music.”

Ayra Starr went on to declare herself “president of miniskirts and co.”

The 24-year-old singer said she has always known right from when she was five-year-old that she was going to become a global pop star.

She said her dream collaborators are Burna Boy and Rihanna.

I Graduated From University At 18 – Ayra Starr

Nigerian singer/songwriter, Ayra Starr has revealed that she graduated from the University at the age of 18.

According to the singer, she got into school early because her mother was not going to let her do music until she had a degree and she desperately wanted to be a teenage pop star.

She revealed that she has a degree in International relations and political science and is currently planning on getting another one.

In her words:

“I was 18 actually. So my mum said I had to go to school first before she allowed me do any type of music. So it was school first, school first. I made sure I got into school early cos I wanted to become a teenage pop star.

“My goal was to become a teenage pop year so I knew I had to go to school early. So, I did my WAEC a year before I was supposed to graduate. I just tried it to be honest, I didn’t know if I was going to pass but I aced it you know. I aced it.

“So I got into school, I schooled in Benin republic and I graduated from the uni when I was 18. My course was 3 years. I have a degree in international relations and Political science. I’m thinking of getting another one. I have been so lazy, I don’t have the time but I’m taking French lesson, piano lessons and music lessons.”

“Female artistes are not held to same standards as male” – Ayra Starr speaks

Popular songster, Ayra Starr has opined that female performers are not usually held to the same standards as their male colleagues.

The ‘Rush’ crooner made this known while speaking in a recent interview with Saturday Beats.

She remarked on how grateful she is for her senior female colleagues who have paved the way for budding female singer like herself, however, female and male performers are not treated equally.

Ayra Starr said:

“I am grateful to the women who came before me, who paved the way. Because of them, I am not dealing with so much. However, there is still that issue of female artistes being scrutinised more than their male colleagues. Female artistes are not held to the same standards as the males.”

She also spoke on her recently released hit single, “Sability” which has been getting glowing reviews from appreciative fans.

“Of course, I am excited. I wanted people to feel good and be happy while listening to the song. I am happy it’s doing that and even more. I wanted to put out a song that would make some people remember the times in their lives when they literally had no worries; and, that was how I arrived at ‘Sability’,” she said.

Reacting to those who do not fancy the song, Ayra Starr urged them to listen to the song with an open mind:

“They really just have to take the time to listen to the song well. It’s a happy song and I hope they are happy when they listen to it.”

She added: “I am never under pressure to release hit songs. I just want to make songs that make sense to me and my fans.”

Superstar Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr has debunked claims that she is in a romantic relationship with her senior colleague, Rema.

The afropop singer cleared the air on this while speaking in a recent interview on Kiss FM, a Kenyan station.

In the interview, the anchor asked the ‘Sability’ hit maker whether the rumours making the rounds on the streets of Kenya that she and Rema are a thing is true.

Looking puzzled by this, Ayra said that she hadn’t heard of such thing before.

According to her, she and her colleague, Rema, are just brothers in Christ and not lovers.

Ayra had gone to the Nigerian Immigration Service to obtain her passport, but she had no idea what was coming.

To her shock, she was asked to take her lashes off. She adds that she would never forgive the passport officials for what they had done to her.

“This passport office people really made me just remove my lashes. I’ll never forgive y’all”, Ayra cries out on Twitter.
