I Spent Endless Nights Dreaming About Real Madrid – Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe has spoken about his dream of joining Real Madrid.
According to him, he had desired to play for the Spanish giants since childhood.

The France forward, 25, signed a five-year deal at the club in July after the expiry of his Paris St-Germain contract.

His presentation was delayed due to France’s involvement at Euro 2024, where they were knocked out at the semi-final stage by Spain.
But, speaking to a crowd of over 80,000 spectators at the Bernabeu, Mbappe told supporters he had dreamt of the moment he could call himself a Real Madrid player.
“I spent endless nights dreaming about one day playing for Real Madrid and today I am one happy guy,” said Mbappe.
“My family are so happy here, I can see my mum crying.

“It’s an incredible day for me, I’ve dreamt of this day since I was a kid and this day means a lot to me.
Mbappe, who was kitted out in the club’s new home kit and addressed spectators in Spanish, was introduced to the crowd by club president Florentino Perez.
Speaking to Mbappe before the Frenchman spoke to the crowd, Perez said: “The love that you felt for Real Madrid, and you identifying with this club since your childhood, made it possible for you to be here and to overcome those obstacles on the way to your dream.”

For Perez, Mbappe’s arrival was a long time in the making and comes three years after Real failed with a £137m offer for the World Cup winner.
PSG accepted a world record bid of £259m from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal in 2023, but Mbappe rejected the move as it became apparent that he wanted to move to the Bernabeu.
Mbappe, who was offered a contract extension by the French club, was left out of PSG’s pre-season tour as a result but he was eventually reintegrated by manager Luis Enrique.
The forward left PSG having scored 256 goals in 308 appearances.

Lamine Yamal Becomes Youngest-Ever Scorer At European Championship At 16

Lamine Yamal has made history by becoming the youngest player ever to score at the European Championship at the age of 16.
This comes after his stunning goal for Spain in its European Championship semifinal 2-1 victory over France on Tuesday.

Yamal will turn 17 on Saturday, a day before the final in Berlin against either England or the Netherlands.

“I only ask to win, win and win,” said Yamal, who was voted player of the match. “I will celebrate my birthday in Germany with my team.”
Yamal struck in the 21st minute, curling the ball past France goalkeeper Mike Maignan from around 25 yards and into the top left corner.

“I don’t know if it is the best goal of the tournament, but it is the most special goal for me because it is my first goal with the team at a European Championship,” he said.
Yamal is 16 years and 362 days old. The previous youngest scorer at a European Championship was Swiss player Johan Vonlanthen (18 years, 141 days), against France at Euro 2004.
We are very happy to reach the final. Now comes the most important part — winning the title,” Yamal said. “We were in a difficult stretch after not expecting to concede so early. I just took the ball and wanted to put it right there.

UEFA Takes Decision On Man Utd, Man City Playing Europa, UCL Next Season

Manchester City and Manchester United have been cleared by UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body, CFCB, to take part in European competition next season.

Both City and LaLiga side Girona qualified for the Champions League.

There were doubts over whether both teams will be allowed to play in the competition, as they are both part of the City Football Group.

United, meanwhile, earned a Europa League ticket by winning the FA Cup along with Nice. The Ligue 1 club is also under the control of Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group.

Two clubs under the same ownership being in one European competition creates a potential conflict with UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules, and changes had to be made at board level for all four clubs to be admitted.

UEFA confirmed on Friday that there had been “significant changes made to the ownership, governance, and financial support of the concerned clubs” which would “substantially restrict the investors’ influence and decision-making power”.

The shares held in Girona and Nice have been transferred to independent trustees “through a blind trust structure established under the supervision of the CFCB”.

The measure applies for the 2024/2025 season, after which the shares will transfer back to City Football Group and INEOS.

I Took A Break From Super Eagles – Ahmed Musa Clears Air On Retirement

Ahmed Musa, the Super Eagles captain, has clarified rumours that he has stepped aside from international duty.

His most recent appearance was a seven-minute cameo in a friendly game against Guinea in January.

Musa has also been without a club since his contract with Turkish side Sivasspor was terminated in February.

But speaking with reporters after a friendly match he organized, Musa explained: “I only took a little break from the national team.

“But I didn’t exit the team.”
