Rivers Crisis: I Warned Fubara Against Betraying Wike – Fayose Recounts

Ayodele Fayose, a former Ekiti State Governor, has disclosed that he warned Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, against betraying the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Fayose disclosed that the warning was given at Fubara’s inauguration ceremony, stressing that he did not foresee that the bond between the two Rivers political heavyweights would degenerate into a full-blown political crisis.

The ex-governor made this known while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he described the ongoing rift between Fubara and his predecessor as surprising.

According to Fayose, he was seated at the high table during the swearing-in ceremony and used the opportunity to relay the message through Wike.

“I was on the high table when Governor Fubara was being sworn in. I told Wike that I wanted to speak to Fubara, and I warned him not to turn against you,” Fayose said.

He added that he never imagined that events would spiral to the extent currently being witnessed.

Fayose’s remarks come against the backdrop of the protracted political struggle between Wike and Fubara over influence and control of Rivers State’s political structure.

The development has continued to generate tension and uncertainty within the state’s political landscape.

2027: Peter Obi Is The Only Life In ADC – Fayose Says

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is the only real source of vitality within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Fayose made this statement on Friday while fielding questions in an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television.

He also said that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is technically no more, adding that it is dead.

The former governor equally said that Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, should not be dragged into the woes of the PDP.

He said: “Obi is the only life in ADC; all other people in ADC are semi-existent. If Obi had gone to remain in Labour Party or has gone to Accord Party, he is the only life there. All the other people there, they are not existing. They are old-forces.

“Openly, I supported Tinubu in 2023. I didn’t hide it. Till now I’m still there. I don’t jump. I have said it to you I’m not a member of APC and I will never be.”

Ned Nwoko Reacts After Regina Daniels Shared Result Of Drug Test To Dispute His Allegations That She’s An Addict

Nigerian Senator, Ned Nwoko has responded after his estranged wife, Regina Daniels, took a drug test and made the results public.

The result of the test, done in the UK, showed that the actress had no drugs in her system.

Regina said it became necessary to address the drug addiction allegations made by her estranged husband because she wanted her children to know the truth and to take pride in her.

Reacting now, Ned Nwoko stated that “temporary abstinence is not sobriety”.

The politician wrote: “DONT BE FOOLED: TEMPORARY ABSTINENCE IS NOT SOBRIETY.”

He continued: “Temporary abstinence, does not erase the underlying challenges that brought this situation to light. Recovery and accountability are not matters for social media posts or publtic engagement, they require sustained effort honesty, and a genuine engagement with professional support.

“The conditions under which this recent test was conducted remain unclear. ln contrast, earlier findings of drugs and alcohol use were established through assessments conducted by two independent, reputable centres in Nigeria and South Africa. These reports were professionally compiled, formally documented, and will be presented and defended in court, and the centres involved will be subpoenaed to testify to their findings

“Presenting a later negative result as proof that no prior use occurred is Misleading and disingenuous. At best, it reflects abstinence over a period of time. It does not invalidate earlier medical reports, nor does it negate what necessitated intervention in the first place.

“There has also been an attempt to dilute the seriousness of the substance refered to as MDMA (Molly), regardless of how casually it is referenced or repackaged in language, it is a drug. Renaming it does not alter its chemical composition, its risks, or its impact on judgment and stability.

“Moreover, temporary abstinence, whether for weeks or months, does not address the underlying issues that brought this situation to where it is today.

“Healing is not episodic, and accountability is not performative.

“Long before this matter became public, Senator Ned Nwoko explored every possible avenue to provide support, including private rehabilitation for structured, sustained therapy, not just brief one off, it failed. Denial is never a foundation for sustainable therapy The first step is to own up to the existing problem. When the court gave judgement in favour of Senator Ned having custody, and dismissing all Unsubstantiated human rights abuse claims they brought forward last year, the court order stated that Regina should go for supervised therapy with evidence of same. we did not make it a time for public show. Senator Ned gave Regina a window to quietly seek the needed help, he acted discreetly, keeping matters out of the media while encouraging access to professional care so she could maintain a meaningfut relationship with her children.

“It is therefore inaccurate to suggest consistent sobriety or to dismiss prior findings. A single test, taken at a time of one’s choosing, does not outweigh documented assessments conducted independently and professionally.

“If accountability is to be invoked, then it must acknowledge reality of a problem and willingness to address it, that’s accountability that can yield results.

“Genuine accountability requires confronting reality, and committing to long-term professional support, not a matter to be measured by social media engagements. True growth, stability, and accountability come from embracing the process quietly, consistently, and with integrity, the very approach Senator Ned has encouraged from the start. lt is not time for drama

“Any test conducted anywhere in the world will face court scrutiny and should be ready when subpoenaed, to defend results just like the Nigerian and South African labs. In any case, Court would for clarity, appoint a credible laboratory for verification of claims. It is time for reality supported by relevant, credible and admissible evidence.”

Politicians Jostling For Power While Nigerians Neck-Deep In Poverty – Peter Obi Laments

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has lamented that as politicians scramble for power, Nigerians continue to struggle in deepening poverty.

In a post on his verified X handle on Thursday, Obi said while other nations are lifting millions out of hardship, Nigeria is regressing.

Obi said the alarming statistic of roughly 62% of Nigerians representing 141 million people living in poverty, indicates that more than half of the nation’s population is living in dire conditions.

“As we politicians scramble for positions and vie for control of party structures, often sharing posts even before elections are conclude, a harsh truth confronts our nation.

“According to World Bank data, the number of Nigerians living in poverty surged from 81 million in 2019 to approximately 139 million in 2025. In just one year, from 2023 to 2024, the number of impoverished Nigerians jumped from 115 million to 129 million an increase of 14 million individuals.

“Projections for 2026 suggest that this figure will reach around 141 million, meaning an additional 26 million Nigerians will be thrust into poverty between 2023 and 2026.

“The Nigeria Economic Outlook 2026 report, titled “Turning Macroeconomic Stability into Sustainable Growth,” reinforces these grim projections. It is estimated that by 2026, an overwhelming 141 million people, 62% of the population will be living in poverty.

“Despite recent attempts at stabilization, the report underscores that weak real income growth and persistently high living costs will continue to exacerbate poverty.

“Most Nigerians will not experience income growth sufficient to counter escalating costs. Although headline inflation may moderate, sustained high prices stemming from energy, logistics, and exchange-rate fluctuations will remain a burden.

“Low-income households are especially at risk, as food constitutes up to 70% of their total spending, leaving them acutely vulnerable to food inflation and price shocks.

“This rising tide of poverty weakens purchasing power, diminishes demand, and places immense pressure on micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises reliant on local consumers. A sustained increase in poverty could unravel public finances, erode human capital, and impede economic recovery unless we see robust job creation, productivity growth, and effective social protection programs.

“Our trajectory starkly contrasts with nations like India and Indonesia. India successfully reduced extreme poverty from 35-40% in 2000 to an astonishing 5.3% today. Indonesia, too, has made significant strides, cutting poverty from around 30% in 2000 to roughly 8%, all through unwavering investments in education, health, and social protection.

“Meanwhile, Nigeria has witnessed a rise in poverty from about 40% in 2000 to a distressing 62% today.

“Can we continue to tolerate the reality that a child born in Nigeria today faces one of the highest risks of being born into poverty anywhere in the world? The fact that 141 million Nigerians are living in poverty is not merely a national failure; it is a blatant threat to our future. The time for complacency has passed. Structural reforms—macroeconomic stability, investment in agriculture, food supply, logistics, education, health, productivity, and large-scale job creation—are no longer optional; they are imperative,” he wrote.

It Was God’s Mercy That Saved Anthony Joshua — Pastor Adeboye Says

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has credited the survival of British-Nigerian boxing champion Anthony Joshua in a potentially fatal car crash to what he described as God’s mercy.

Adeboye spoke on Sunday during the church’s monthly thanksgiving service, while illustrating the role of divine mercy in preservation, citing Joshua’s accident.

Joshua escaped death in the road accident that occurred on the busy Lagos–Ibadan Expressway last Monday.

The crash claimed the lives of two of his friends — Ayodele Kelvin, a 36-year-old Nigerian-British citizen, and Gami Sina, also 36, a British citizen — while others sustained injuries.

While explaining the value of God’s mercy in preservation, Adeboye said, “Lamentations 3:22–23 says it is by the mercies of the Lord that we are not consumed. We are alive because of the mercies of the Lord, not because of cleverness.”

“I read in the newspapers yesterday that our boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, exchanged seats with someone before the accident.

“The people he exchanged seats with died. I don’t know why, but the mercy of God said someone would still be alive today,” he said.

The cleric, who took his message from Psalm 89:1, noted that the use of singular expressions in the Psalms underscores personal importance.

“I have informed us in the past that whenever something is very important to David, he uses the singular to express himself. When you hear him say, ‘The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want,’ it is personal.

“I want you to take this message personally. Maybe one or two people can join me in attaching meaning to it. I am talking to myself,” he said.

BREAKING: NNPCL Drops Petrol Price Again

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has once again reduced the price of premium motor spirit.

According to Daily Post, a check by journalists who went round Abuja on Monday morning, showed that NNPCL retail outlets have reduced their fuel price to N815 per liter, down from N835.

This means that the NNPCL filling stations cut their price by N20.

The fresh price has been implemented at NNPCL filling stations in Wuse Zone 6 and 4 Abuja, Keffi-Abuja Road, and Kubwa Expressway.

An NNPCL filling station attendant, who preferred anonymity, told Daily Post that the new price was implemented on Sunday evening.

However, the N815 per liter is N79 higher than the N739 per liter sold at Dangote Refinery’s backed MRS filling stations nationwide.

Recall that NNPCL on December 19, 2025, cut its price of petrol by N80 to N835 amid a price war among players in the country’s oil downstream sector triggered by Dangote Refinery’s gantry price reduction to N699 per liter.

Why Nigerians May Be Banned From All Countries – Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has warned that unless urgent action is taken, Nigerians could face bans from the rest of the world in the near future.

Sani issued this warning in a post via his official X handle on Saturday, in response to the deportation of Nigerians by the Canadian government.

626Blaze reports that Canada deported no fewer than 366 Nigerians between January and October 2025, as the country stepped up immigration enforcement at its fastest pace in more than a decade.

Reacting, the former lawmaker said: “Canada has been a second home to thousands of Nigerians who live, study, or work there. It’s the most liberal country when it comes to immigration and accommodating Nigerians.

“The recent deportations of Nigerians from Canada are a wake-up call. Our unscrupulous citizens, involved in crime and abusing the benevolence and generosity of the Canadian people, are not helpful to our country’s image.

“We either tackle the few among us, or we may wake up one day banned by the rest of the world.”

House Of Reps Releases Tax Reform Acts To Address Discrepancy

The National Assembly has issued the Certified True Copies (CTCs) of four landmark tax reform Acts recently signed into law by President Bola Tinubu, making them available for public record, verification, and reference.

House of Representatives Spokesman Akin Rotimi said the release was directed by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen.

He explained that the documents include the endorsement and assent pages personally signed by the President.

According to Rotimi, the decision followed public concerns and allegations about possible alterations to the laws, as well as the circulation of unauthorised and misleading versions.

The release, he said, is intended to eliminate doubts, restore clarity, and protect the integrity of the legislative process.

The four Acts released are: The Nigeria Tax Act, 2025; The Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025; The National Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2025; and The Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Act, 2025.

Rotimi stressed that the National Assembly remains vigilant in safeguarding the sanctity of its legislative work, noting that only the certified and officially released versions constitute the authentic and authoritative tax laws.

He disclosed that the House’s attention was drawn to inconsistencies in versions of the tax laws in circulation after a member identified discrepancies and formally raised the issue on a point of privilege.

Acting swiftly, the Speaker ordered an internal verification and the immediate public release of the certified Acts.

Rotimi added that, from the initiation of the tax reform process through extensive stakeholder consultations, committee scrutiny, clause-by-clause consideration, plenary debates, and eventual passage, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen provided firm leadership to ensure the reforms were evidence-based, inclusive, and aligned with Nigeria’s fiscal realities and development priorities.

He noted that the Speaker consistently emphasised that tax reform must be anchored on clarity, fairness, and strict adherence to constitutional and parliamentary procedures.

The four Acts, Rotimi said, form the backbone of Nigeria’s contemporary tax reform architecture, designed to modernise revenue administration, improve compliance, reduce inefficiencies, eliminate duplication, and strengthen fiscal coordination across the federation.
