Deja Was Performing And I Wasn’t There – Nigerian Singer, Adekunle Gold Reveals The Last Time He Cried (Video)

The world-famous Nigerian singer, Adekunle Gold has shared a personal experience that moved him to tears.

The ‘Many People’ crooner revealed in a podcast that the last time he cried was a few months ago while walking down the street.

The emotional moment came when he watched his daughter, Deja, perform for the first time via a video call.

The singer described the overwhelming mix of pride and longing he felt, realizing he could not be there in person to witness his daughter’s milestone.

The experience made him reflect on the sacrifices involved in building a successful career while also caring for his family.

Adekunle Gold explained that these emotions inspired his song “My Love is the Same”.

He said: “When was the last time I cried? That was the last time I cried. Like two, three months ago. Do you remember what it was about? Oh yeah, Deja was performing and I wasn’t there, so they called me on video. So they called, showed me, and it was her first performance.

“I’m like, nah, this is crazy. It’s like the price you have to pay for building and doing this thing that you have to do, and also, of course, looking after your family.

“Yeah, that’s one of the reasons I wrote ‘My Love is the Same.’ I wouldn’t know what people go through. It’s crazy. Throwing it down, being confident, I’m like, oh damn, I wish I was there. Yeah, I started to cry.”

Media Personality, Ebuka Raises Questions On How Men And Women Build Friendships (Video)

A video clip from MENtality, the podcast hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, has sparked lively discussions online after he made a playful yet insightful comment about how men maintain their friendships.

Ebuka recounted a comment from a female friend who noted that men often keep the same friends for years not necessarily out of deep emotional attachment but because they hardly stress one another.

According to her, male friendships run on easy banter, football talk, and the occasional birthday message rather than intense emotional exchanges.

She contrasted this with how quickly women form tight bonds sharing heartbreak stories, praying together, and offering emotional support only for these friendships to sometimes collapse unexpectedly over minor issues such as a missed call or forgotten birthday.

This contrast raised a central question on the show. Do men stay friends because the bond is not deeply emotional enough to create conflict, or are their relationships simply quieter yet equally strong?

The clip has since made the rounds on social media, where users debated whether men avoid vulnerability or whether their friendships simply operate on a different emotional wavelength.
