God Or Prayers Won’t Save Nigeria – Singer, Omah Lay

Stanley Omah Didia, the Afrobeats singer, who is popularly known as Omah Lay, has stated that prayers alone cannot save Nigeria.

He insisted that until citizens began taking proactive actions, the country won’t change for the better.

“No Jesus, no Allah, no prayer is saving us. Nothing changes until we wake TF up ,” he wrote on his X handle on Thursday.

The singer made the comment against the backdrop of both Christian and Islamic clerics calling for prayers for Nigeria amid the escalating insecurity and economic hardship in the country.

Other celebrities such as Don Jazzy, Davido, Falz, Mr Macaroni, among others, have also reacted to the recent terrorist attack on a church in Kwara and kidnap of school girls in Kebbi state, calling on the relevant authorities to take urgent actions.

Singer Yemi Alade on Wednesday voiced out her stance against the call for foreign intervention in the insecurity in the country, arguing that “African problems need African solutions, not new problem.”

I Lost Endorsement Deal For Refusing To ‘Travel To Dubai’ With Company Owner – Tiwa Savage Reveals (Video)

Tiwa Savage, the popular Nigerian singer, has stated that one of the biggest challenges women face in the Nigerian music industry is the pressure to exchange s*x for career opportunities.

Speaking in a panel organised by Entertainment Week Africa, Savage said she has had experiences where she was told to go visit influential male executives before she could get booked for certain shows.

She also revealed that she once lost an endorsement deal for refusing to go on holiday to Dubai with the company’s co-owner.

Savage said the experience made her realise that some executives value her body more than her talent.

She said, “I had been told that if I don’t go and see ‘this chairman’ personally, I would not be put on a show. I lost an endorsement because I refused to go to Dubai with a man who is one of the owners of the company.

“That was when I realised that they don’t value my talent but my body, which I was only flaunting as part of branding. It ended up hurting me because that is all they were seeing.”
