Nigerian media personality, Toke Makinwa has recounted how she aspired to break into Hollywood and had to relocate to Los Angeles to fulfil her dreams.
The vlogger stated that she moved abroad three years ago to pursue her dream.
She said she started taking acting classes and was so sure it was the next move.
However, she said God decided it was not yet time and gave her room to grow back in Nigeria.
She added that being an actress in Nigeria comes with sacrifices but she is committed to it.
Wunmi, the wife of late Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has shared a photo of her and the singer ahead of his first death anniversary.
In the photo, they both had their hair tinted while smiling at each other.
Mohbad died in controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023. His body was later removed for an autopsy to be carried out and is yet to be buried.
According to Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer, Mohbad will not be buried until a DNA test is carried out on Liam, the only child of the singer.
Nigerian singer/songwriter, Ayra Starr has revealed that she has never been in love.
In a recent talk with Dazed Magazine the “Woman Commando” crooner revealed that she would actually love to experience it.
Despite being called a “lover girl,” Ayra Starr, who appeared on the cover of the most recent issue of the British leisure magazine, said that she had never been in a committed relationship.
“I want to fall in love. I wrote ‘Lagos Love Story’ about what love would look like if I was. I am a lover girl deep in my heart, I’m just very strong headed about it. I actually have never been in love. I have been in certain situations – not situationships! – but I have never been in a fully committed relationship.”
“I’ve put myself out there and I’ve tried to see what’s there but I don’t think I’ve had the time. I’ve been working since I was 15, I was modelling, I was doing university, and now I’m on the road.
“It’s me just enjoying myself as a girl. I’m like, let me sing to a cute boy today and I’m looking around because I can – why not?”
Bukola Ikuomola, the Nollywood actress, has opened up on why she ventured into the s*x toy business.
She explained that her decision to venture into selling s*x toys was motivated by a desire to meet human needs, much like any other business.
“Like any legitimate business, my decision to enter the s*x toy industry was driven by a desire to provide solutions to human needs.An entrepreneur’s role is to identify and address these needs.
“As society becomes more liberal and open-minded, I see great potential in this industry. So far, the experience has been positive, and I’m seeing growing interest in our products”, she told Potpourri
Balancing her acting career with this unconventional business has not posed a problem for Ikuomola, who credits her peers in the entertainment industry for being supportive.
“My acting career does not interfere with my business endeavors. I’m fortunate that my colleagues in the entertainment industry are mature and forward-thinking. I don’t see anything unconventional about the s*x toy business, except perhaps in the eyes of those who are immature or stuck in the past.”
Despite the positive reception from most customers, the actress admitted she has faced occasional challenges due to societal perceptions.
“I’ve occasionally encountered individuals with a limited understanding of the business who have tried to overstep boundaries. However, the majority of my customers have been respectful and discreet. Those who choose to buy our products are decent people who value their privacy.”
When asked what advice she would give to women considering similar ventures in Nigeria, Ikuomola offered encouragement, challenging the notion that Nigeria is strictly conservative.
“I don’t quite agree with the characterization of Nigeria as a ‘conservative society.’ We are a diverse and free-spirited people. My advice to others considering such ventures is to go for it. However, they should be prepared to deal with immature individuals who may not fully understand or appreciate their work.”
Nancy Isime, the popular Nigerian actress and media personality, has shared her vision for early retirement and her journey of hard work during a recent episode of the CreativiTEA podcast.
Isime disclosed that she has been working since she was 17, with a clear goal of achieving financial security before an early retirement.
“I have been working since I was 17, early retirement is the plan.So I’m doing all my work now so by the time I am retiring at an age people feel is too early, my portfolio and achievements will speak for themselves.”
The role interpreter also emphasized on the importance of enjoying the journey rather than focusing solely on the end result, saying, “We tend to want to see the end results before we do anything. We don’t enjoy the process. I’m very intentional about enjoying the process and the journey, understanding that you can never truly arrive.”
A believer in the power of small steps and struggles, she expressed that overcoming challenges is a key part of her success story.
“People feel like struggles are something to be ashamed of; for me, it’s not. If you go through my Instagram page, you can scroll all the way down. I don’t delete anything because it’s like a memory book for me,” she explained.
Reflecting on the importance of building a strong foundation, Nancy compared her journey to a biblical principle: “There’s a part of the Bible that says when your foundation is built on Christ, it’s like building on solid rock, and when the rain comes, it stands solid. That’s what I’ve done, building my way through life.”
Drake, the world-famous Canadian music superstar, was spotted at the Toronto leg of Nigerian singer, Tems’ ‘Born In The Wild’ tour at History, Toronto, on Saturday night.
Videos emerged online showing the moment the camera flashed to Drake sitting in a VIP section during Naomi Sharon’s set.
The rapper was seen nodding to the performance.
During her set, headliner Tems revealed that she defiled a cold to be at the show.
“I have a cold but we’re gonna dance this cold away,” she announced to fans.
Tems went on to deliver an electrifying performance of medley of songs from her debut album ‘Born In The Wild’ as well as her previous projects.
Tems and Drake have collaborated twice. First on the Canadian rapper’s song ‘Fountain’ and secondly as guests on Future’s ‘Wait 4 U’, which debuted top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Victoria, the Big Brother Naija ‘No Loose Guard’ housemate, has admitted that she has a soft spot for her colleague, Ozee.
She revealed this while apologising to Ozee over a recent misunderstanding.
Victoria stated that she doesn’t like apologising but comprised because she has a soft spot for Ozee.
Victoria: “I noticed you have been avoiding me. I came to you and you asked me to go away.
Ozee: “Remember, I said there would be consequences for your actions?”
Victoria: “But we did spoke.”
Ozee: “No, we didn’t speak after then.”
Victoria: “Alright, I’m sorry. I don’t say sorry but apologising.”
Ozee: “I will think about it.”
Victoria: “It’s because you know I have a soft spot for you that’s why you’re making this difficult. I’m sorry, please. Come let’s hug it out.”
Ozee eventually accepted the apology and they shared a tight hug.
