AFCON 2025: If You Lose, You Go Home – Sunday Oliseh Warns Super Eagles Ahead Of Mozambique Clash

Former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh has cautioned Eric Chelle’s side ahead of their Round of 16 encounter with Mozambique at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

According to Oliseh, the knockouts will be a different kettle of fish from the group stages, starting with the Round of 16

The Super Eagles won all their three group fixtures – the only team to achieve the feat.

By the end of the group stages, Eric Chelle’s men scored eight goals and conceded four.

“We’re starting the round of 16. What changes here now is that if you lose, you go home,” Oliseh said on his podcasy.

“It is no longer important how beautiful you play; what matters is the result, and that is why the Super Eagles have to make sure their priority is not conceding.”

In a video shared on her Instagram page, the actress advised people to stop seeing wealthy friends, family members, and influential figures only as future helpers, and start being intentional about giving to them first — no matter how small.

Tonto explained that rich people receive countless messages daily from people asking for help, but very few from people who simply want to give or appreciate them. According to her, standing out starts with being different.

She encouraged fans to give within their capacity, stressing that it is not about the size of the gift but the heart and intention behind it.

“These people have thousands of DMs of people begging them, but not of people wanting to give them. Be different,” she said.

The actress also touched on a lesson she said her life coach once taught her — that leadership and blessings often flow through those who understand the power of giving.

Tonto added that many people constantly ask favors from friends they rely on, yet have never taken time to give them even a small gift in appreciation.

Anthony Joshua’s Driver Charged To Court

Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver of Nigerian-British boxer Anthony Joshua, has been arraigned in court by the Ogun State Police.

Recall that the Ogun Police Command on Thursday announced that the driver was in custody.

In an update on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi in a statement said the driver has been charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court.

The PPRO further stated that the matter was adjourned to 20th January, 2026.

The statement reads, “The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, aged 46, was charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, 2nd January, 2026 and the case has been adjourned to 20th January, 2026.

Recall that Anthony Joshua on Monday involved in a fatal road accident that claimed the lives of his close friends Sina Ghami, Latif Ayodele.

I Will Be Resting – Pastor Chris Okafor Takes Break From Ministerial Duties Amid Allegations, Scandal (Video)

Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of Grace Nation International, also known as Liberation City, has taken a temporary break from his ministerial duties.

Okafor announced the development during the New Year service on Thursday, asking four pastors under him to take over from the month of January 2026.

The development comes amidst calls for the pastor to step down from his pastoral duties following reports of sexual allegation from former church members and also a relationship scandal involving actress, Doris Ogala.

But it is unclear if the decision has anything to do with the relationship scandal and ensuing allegations against the cleric.

Okafor said, “We have four Sundays in January, so, in the whole of these four Sundays, we would be having Pastor Sylvester, Pastor Kelvin, Pastor Oliver, and Shadrach minister to you and anoint you every Sunday because it’s going to be prophetic Sundays.

“So, they will be here. While they are here, I will be resting, and it will be time for a personal retreat with God and time for me and my wife to rest because since our wedding we have not rested, we’ve not had time, we have not even done honeymoon.”

The controversy trailing the pastor started immediately after a video of him getting engaged to his wife surfaced online.

Malami And Son To Remain In Kuje Prison Till January 7

Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, along with his son, Abubakar Abdulaziz Malami, will remain in Kuje Prison until January 7, when their bail applications are set to be decided.

Justice Emeka Nwite issued the order on Friday after taking arguments for and against the bail applications filed by Malami and his son, who are on trial over a N9 billion money laundering charge brought against them by the Federal Government.

Malami, his son and one Hajia Bashir Asabe, a staff of Ramadiya Property Limited, are to stay in the prison till January 7 when ruling in the bail applications would be delivered by the judge

Justice Emeka Nwite announced that he had several other matters to rule upon as a vacation judge, hence, will not be able to deliver the ruling until the date.

Joseph Daudu, SAN, argued the bail applications for the three defendants while Emmanuel Ekele Iheanacho, SAN, opposed the motion on behalf of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Malami and his co-defendants had pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on behalf of the Federal Government.

Burna Boy Sets Record For Biggest Streaming Year By African Artist On Spotify

Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, the Nigerian singer, popularly known as Burna Boy has set a new record for the biggest streaming year by an African artist on Spotify with almost 2 billion streams in 2025.

The Ye crooner garnered 1.986 billion streams on Spotify in 2025, emerging ahead of his colleagues Wizkid, Tyla, Rema and Davido as the most streamed African artist in the year under review.

According to 2025 Spotify streaming data, Wizkid is the second most streamed African artist of the year with 1.81 billion streams.

South African singer Tyla is third on the list with 1.67 billion streams, followed by Rema with 1.63 billion streams and Davido with 1.58 billion streams, at numbers 4 and 5, respectively.

Asake (1.52 billion streams ), Ayra Starr (1.47 billion streams), CKay (1.38 billion streams), Seyi Vibez (1.32 billion streams), and Mr Eazi (1.26 billion streams), complete the top 10.

Popular Nigerian TikToker Peller has officially announced his breakup with Jarvis, his girlfriend and fellow content creator.

Peller made the announcement two weeks after being involved in a deliberate car accident to end his life over breakup threats from Jarvis.

He was hospitalised and later arrested by the authority “in accordance with extant traffic laws.”

However, speaking on Thursday January 1st 2026, Peller during a Tiktok Livestream announced their breakup.

“Jarvis and I have officially breakup. For now we’re just friends. We kindly ask everyone to respect our decisions. She’s my friend now, please don’t bully anybody.

“I have spoken with her family. I have begged her family to please forgive me. Her family was angry but the letter forgive me. We’re still friends but she said I should just varnish for now,” he said.
