Over 200,000 Sign Petition To Ban Marlian Records Over Mohbad’s Death

Over 200,000 people have signed the petition calling for the ban of Marlian Records, the music label owned by Naira Marley, in the wake of the death of popular singer, Mohbad.

Mohbad, 27, passed away on Tuesday and was laid to rest on Wednesday.

The police in Lagos have since commenced a probe of the case to determine the nature of his death.

A Change.Org petition by an anonymous blogger has been initiated on the matter.

It has racked up over 200,000 signatures as of September 16.

Mohbad, before his death, was in a faceoff with Naira Marley, the singer who signed him to the Marlian label.

At the peak of it, he had exited the label in favour of a solo run.

The Change.Org petition is now requesting that an investigation should be carried out on why Mohbad could not appear before the police after he was previously summoned over his squabbles with industry executives.

It called for a thorough investigation of the Marlian Music brand and Sam Larry Elegushi, the music promoter.

The cause of Mohbad’s death is still unknown, although allegations have made the rounds.

Joseph Aloba, his father, revealed that Mohbad died after an auxiliary nurse was invited to inject him.

Omowunmi, the partner of Mohbad, also recounted the singer’s struggles when he was alive.

The police would later announce a comprehensive investigation into Mohbad’s death on Thursday.

My Big Mouth Is The Problem, Says Doyin On Why BBNaija Housemates Dislike Her

One of the evicted BBNaija All-Stars housemates, Doyin David, has said the other contestants dislike her for her “mouth”.

Doyin was evicted from the BBNaija All-Stars house last Sunday after securing the least votes.

While in the house, the reality star was known for airing her opinions without any filters.

In an Instagram live session with Imoh Eboh, the reality TV star said the housemates did not like her because of the way she expressed herself.

She also said she realised that her mouth “is bigger than it should be” and she will work on controlling her delivery.

“The housemates did not like me obviously, they did not like my guts. Maybe that is as a result of how I was or the way that I expressed myself,” she said. There is something people need to bear in mind.

“I was the only person in that house who did not know anyone before the show, so I was building new relationships.

“There would have been different things that they picked out and do not like, but it does not mean that the thing is definitely bad. We do not have to have to get along with everybody.

“I am aware that I have a mouth on me. Did I know that it was this extreme? Maybe not. I think that was something I figured out this season, maybe because, with my friends here in real life, I just talk and they don’t complain.

“I guess I found out at the same time as Nigerians that maybe my mouth is a little bigger than it should be. Most of the time it is not even my intention to hurt somebody, it is just my delivery.

“So I think I need to pay more attention to my delivery in general. But I do not think my mouth is a bad thing, I think it is an asset, I just need to control it.”

Drama Looms As Nigerian Military Goes After Illegal Miners Over Growing Terrorism

The Nigerian military high command has issued a new threat to illegal miners around the country.

The military said that its troops will not give a breathing space for those aiding and abetting terrorists’ activities in the mining areas through their illegal activities.

It also vowed to track down sponsors of illegal mining activities, saying the decision was based on its resolve to get rid of the criminals.

The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj Gen Edward Buba, who disclosed this at the Defence Headquarters during a press briefing on Thursday, said the military was up to the challenge more than ever before.

He said, “Interestingly, the perpetrators of the terrorist and insurgency activities are using it as a guise for their personal gain through illegal mining and other unlawful activities.

“For instance, the foot soldiers carry out the illegal mining from mining pits, while their sponsors are in the cities and towns moving around as normal citizens to dispose of the proceeds.

“The situation underscores the importance of ongoing military operations which are critical to the nation’s effort to achieve peace and security. The military is up to the challenge, and more than ever before, and the outcome is not in doubt.”

He revealed that military officers were presently strategically deployed around the country and that they were working closely with other security agencies to fish out the perpetrators.

According to him, the ongoing operations reflect the commitment of the military to end terrorism and insurgency in the country, adding that the armed forces would remain focused in the conduct of their operations in support of national security interests.

He further said, “The priority of our operations is the protection of the citizens as well as villages, towns and cities from the senseless violence of terrorist and other violent extremist groups.”
