Nigerian Journalist, Joey Akan Backs Police Report On How Mohbad Died

Mohbad

Joey Akan, the popular Nigerian journalist, has backed the police report on how singer Mohbad died.

In a tweet he shared, Joey Akan said the police report confirmed all he knows about Mohbad’s death. He went on to outline how Mohbad died.

The journalist tweeted; “Nigerian police finally confirms all I know about Mohbad’s death:

* Sustained an injury during a fight with his childhood friend at a branded experiential marketing show/activation in Ikorodu to market a product

* Instead of going to his hospital, his friends and handlers called in a quack nurse to “disinfect” the wound.

* Nurse gives him a cocktail of intravenous injections, he collapses. Everyone panics and starts rushing him to the hospital they should have gone in the first place.

*Hospital rejects him because he was already dead.

* Friends then make a video of his lifeless body, crudely announcing his death before even family is alerted. Really sad way to go for a person with enough resources that get the best care in the world.”

Ex-Convict Bags 12 Years Jail Term For $1.4m Fraud

One Kolawole Erinle, the Managing Director of Rinde-Remdex Nigeria Limited, has been sentenced to prison.

The Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State, convicted and sentenced the man to 12 years imprisonment for defrauding Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, (KCUMB), United States, of about $1.4 million.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Acting Head, Media and Publicity of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr Dele Oyewale.

The statement revealed that Erinle was convicted by Justice R.A Oshodi on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, retention of proceeds of criminal conduct and obtaining money under false pretence.

According to the statement, two of the charges read, “Kolawole Adedayo Erinle and Edward Dada (still at large), sometime in 2019, at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, conspired to falsely represent yourselves as J.E. Dunn, a local construction company in America, with intent to gain monetary advantage in the sum of $1,410,000 (One Million Four-Hundred and Ten Thousand United States Dollars) by creating a fake domain name jedunn.org and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 8 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act No 14, 2006.

“Kolawole Adedayo Erinle, Rinde-Remdex Nigeria Limited and Edward Dada (still at large) on or about the 3rd day of May 2019, at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, retain the control of $1,410,000 (One Million Four-Hundred and Ten Thousand United States Dollars) in your Access Bank account, which sum you knew to be proceeds of various internet and cybercrime.”

In the course of the trial, prosecution counsel, T.J. Banjo, presented evidence to prove that Erinle was an ex-convict in the US for bank fraud.

Erinle earlier pleaded “not guilty” to the charges, although he admitted that he was indeed an ex-convict in the US, and spent 23 months in prison.

He also expressed a readiness to pay restitution to his victim, saying, “I am sorry.”

Delivering judgment, Justice Oshodi declared the defendant and his company guilty as charged, and also held that the prosecution effectively proved the case against them beyond every reasonable doubt.

Justice Oshodi held that, as argued by the prosecution, Erinle, “spoofed the email address of the financial controller of J.E. Dunn, by faking the domain name of jedunn.com to jedunn.org“, an act which was “premeditated”, so that “when KCUMB was about to pay J.E. Dunn, you provided Bank of America details in the name of E. Dada Autos, and after the wire transfer of $1,412,509.40 into it, in March 2019, you caused the money to be transferred in tranches of $850,000 and $460,000 into the second convict’s account, which you also control”.

The trial judge further hels: “The evidence shows that you transferred the proceeds of your crime to your nominees, including your mother, and your wife, and also acquired vehicles and other properties captured in exhibit P to P1.

“I have considered the prosecution’s submissions that you have a prior conviction for bank fraud in the United States of America, US.

“I have considered the fact that notwithstanding your prison term, which you have confirmed to me as sentencing for 23 months, you have not changed.”

Thereafter, Justice Oshodi sentenced Erinle to five years on count two, and 12 years on count three.

The sentences are to run concurrently from February 10, 2023, when he was remanded by the court.

The company, Rinde-Remdex Nigeria Limited, was fined N50 million, and also ordered to be wound up by the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, with the proceeds forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The convicts were also ordered to make restitution to the victim.

The judge further ordered that all the properties and vehicles recovered from them by the EFCC be sold and applied as restitution to the victim through the FBI.

The funds standing to his credit as recovered by the EFCC, and the company, the court added, “shall be applied as restitution for the victim by the FBI; this is without prejudice for the prosecution and the victim to secure a full restitution”.

Tinubu’s Academic Records: Atiku Lacks Moral Justification To Talk About Integrity – Ajiboye

Abiodun Ajiboye, a member of the defunct All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) has tackled Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He berated Atiku over his quest to obtain the academic certificates of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Recall that Atiku is seeking to include the academic records of the president in his appeal of the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal at the Supreme Court.
The PDP flagbearer had alleged discrepancies in the certificate Tinubu submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to contest in the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking during the press conference on Thursday in Abuja, Atiku stated that every Nigerian was embarrassed by the alleged certificate scandal of the president.
The former vice president asserted that he would only drop the battle against the president after the Supreme Court’s judgment, saying that the unravelling of the truth about Tinubu’s records is not personal.
Atiku also paid tribute to the late human rights activist, Gani Fawehinmi, for inspiring him on the path of discovery, saying that he can truly rest in peace in the assurance that what he started about 23 years ago has come to fruition.
He also alleged that Tinubu also sent a delegation of APC governors to meet with him immediately after the election, but that he rebuffed them, saying that he was not indebted to Tinubu as believed by many.
The former vice president also accused the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari of revoking the contracts of his logistics company, Intells.
Speaking in an interview on Arise News on Thursday night, Ajiboye said the former vice president is the most corrupt human being on earth as described by his former principal, former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The APC chieftain said Atiku cannot be talking about the morality of President Tinubu when he is highly immoral and corrupt.
He said: “Obasanjo said Atiku is the most corrupt human being. You cannot talk about morality when you are highly immoral.“

Drama As Mob Attacks Man, Police Officers Over Alleged Organ Disappearance In Abuja

Serious apprehension was recorded on Thursday evening in the Dei Dei area of the Federal Capital Territory after a mob attacked policemen attached to the Gwagwa police division, Daily Trust reports.

The policemen numbering about five had gone to rescue a man identified as Mubarak who was almost lynched over an allegation of manhood disappearance.

Daily Trust correspondent gathered that a yet-to-be-identified man had raised the alarm of his manhood disappearance after coming in contact with Mubarak.

A resident of the area who did not want to be named told our correspondent on Friday that the mob surrounded the accused and began to beat him to restore the alleged missing manhood.

He said the presence of the police worsened the matter as the mob rather than release the accused to them attacked the police and destroyed their vehicle.

The resident said, “On Thursday evening at Dei-Dei Timber market, a man called Mubarak was attacked by an angry mob after a man said his manhood went missing after having contact with him. He cried out for help and some people gathered round Mubarak. He was beaten and almost lynched when about five policemen came to the scene to rescue him. All efforts by the police to ensure that the mob released Mubarak to them fell on deaf ears.

“The mob then turned to the policemen and destroyed their vehicle. Those who escaped call their office and they are reinforced to the place. The whole area was tensed yesterday and we are not even sure what would happen next. This manhood issue is getting out of hand now, it is time we do something about it.”

When contacted,  the FCT police spokesperson,  SP Josephine Adeh confirmed the incident.

She said policemen deployed to the scene were attacked by the mob.

Adeh said, “Our men deployed to the scene to rescue the man was attacked. Reinforcement was immediately deployed. Normalcy has been restored to the area.  Lawful citizens can go about their activities without fear.  ”

She, however, said the Commissioner of Police condemned the attack on the policemen.

Adeh said he has equally ordered the arrest of the perpetrators of the act.

She said, “The CP condemned in strong terms the attack on policemen.  He has ordered those involved should be arrested.  We are for the umpteenth time warning against mob attacks, particularly on the issue of organ disappearance.  We have arrested 14 people involved, and we will continue to do so.”
