The Nigerian actress Anita Joseph has spoken about how her union with hype man Michael Fisayo, better known by his stage name MC Fish, has improved her personally and helped her become a better person.

In an interview with Punch, Anita, who recently marked her fourth anniversary with her spouse, stated: “Marriage has influenced me in a very positive way.” I’ve developed greater patience and protectiveness.

“One’s heart is the most important thing. It is essentially a one-and-one marriage—one’s parents or other family members won’t be in it with you. Therefore, it’s OK to select a partner from a different tribe. Happiness should always come first.

Given that her husband is Yoruba and she is Igbo, she was asked how she has been adjusting to the cultural differences. She said, “My mother-in-law speaks Yoruba to me, and I say ‘eshe’ (thank you).” Even though it hasn’t been easy, I have gained some knowledge.

The role interpreter added that she was glad to disprove people’s doubts about her marriage, even though many did not believe her.
