Governor Adeleke dismisses talks of joining ADC, vows to run under PDP

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has firmly denied rumours suggesting he plans to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or collaborate with figures within the party ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

In a statement released on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor described the claims as baseless and misleading, reaffirming his full commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Our attention has been drawn to news reports and media enquiries about the imminent defection of Governor Adeleke to the ADC or alignment with ADC big wigs ahead of the 2026 governorship race. There is no truth in those publications and speculations,” the statement read.

Rasheed further clarified that there is no existing alliance or plan to work with the ADC, either directly or indirectly, emphasising that the governor will seek re-election under the PDP banner.

“First of all, we, the PDP Osun, have already adopted and endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, so there is no alliance with ADC.

“Secondly, Governor Adeleke has no alliance with anyone in ADC. He remains in PDP, will run in PDP, and needs no alliance with ADC to win with a wide margin in 2026,” he stated.

He credited the governor’s rising popularity to his performance since assuming office, stating that Adeleke enjoys wide support from the Osun electorate due to his delivery of good governance and development-focused leadership.

“The Osun electorate supports Governor Adeleke because of his impressive performance since he came to office. That good work is still ongoing, and Osun people are committed to sustaining the delivery of good governance by re-electing Governor Adeleke in 2026,” Rasheed said.

The governor also called on PDP members and supporters in the state to remain focused and continue strengthening party structures at all levels as preparations intensify for next year’s election.

Galatasaray president states silverware ambition after securing Osimhen

Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek has urged the club to compete on all fronts in the 2025/2026 season after they secured the services of Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Eagles star spent the 2024/2025 season on loan with the Turkish side, scoring 37 goals and providing seven assists in 41 games for the Cim Bom Aslan.

In addition, the ex-LOSC Lille striker won the Turkish Super Lig and the league cup title with Galatasaray, crowning their season with the domestic double.

After a long-drawn-out negotiation period, Galatasaray signed Osimhen on a four-year deal from Napoli. The Italian side held out and retained a 10% sell-on clause in their deal while making sure he wouldn’t be able to join any Italian club over the next two seasons.

Gala President wants UEFA Champions League with Osimhen

Galatasaray’s vice-president, Abdullah Kavukçu, took pride in his side’s ability to pull off the Osimhen deal without needing financial assistance from anywhere else.

Now, the club’s President, Dursun Aydın Özbek, echoed the same thoughts and urged the players to give their all in fighting for all trophies this season.

“The Galatasaray community had a tremendous expectation. For various reasons, we had the opportunity to visit many parts of Turkey.

“Everywhere I go, even in the farthest corner, people come and say, ‘Is President Osimhen coming?’ they were asking.

“Osimhen deserved that interest in his performance at our club last year. Therefore, in response to this love, we, as a government, have done everything we could to bring him to Galatasaray,” the 76-year-old said in quotes from Galatasaray’s official website.

“We saw it last night. He has a huge flood of love. He’s a worthy player. I am sure that he will do his best as long as he stays at Galatasaray next year and in the following years.

“I’d like to welcome him. I wish him successful seasons at Galatasaray. The fan expects him. He knows it.

“As management, I am happy to meet the expectations of Galatasaray fans with my friends. Our goal this year is to have a successful season in the Champions League.

“I wish both Victor and all our players a successful league and a successful Champions League period. Happy Victor, Happy Galatasaray,” the President concluded.

The 2023 CAF Player of the Year is also eager to repay the faith shown in him by Galatasaray management, who went all out to secure his services for €75M.

“I feel very big right now. I am delighted to be part of the Galatasaray family again. First of all, I’d like to thank my president and our Vice President.

“We have a very positive team right now. I’m so proud to be here. You know my quality because of last season. I believe that we will achieve much greater success with a feeling of much greater belonging, with the quality of both me and my teammates in the next season.

“We will give everything on the field, not only in the league and in the cup, but also in the Champions League, which is one of our main goals.

“I did not expect as much as I saw it. There was a welcome far beyond what I expected. In Germany, I was already on the support of Galatasaray, and when I first came here, it was one of the most important reasons for me to feel happy here,” Osimhen said.

“I’ll keep fighting for the fans with every sweat drop. I’ll keep fighting the same way in the next game. I would like to thank my president, our deputy president and our teacher.

They fought so hard for me to be here. And I salute the supporters from here,” the former VfL Wolfsburg man concluded.

Galatasaray are set to compete on all fronts after securing the services of Victor Osimhen and Leroy Sane this summer. Okan Buruk’s side are edging closer to sealing a deal for Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes.

BBNaijaS10: I’m Very Attracted To You But I Can’t Say I Like You, Kola Tells Dede

Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 10 housemate, Kola, has revealed his attraction to fellow housemate Dede during a private conversation, sparking a candid exchange about feelings and boundaries.

Speaking to Dede, Kola admitted she fits his ideal type but clarified that it’s too early in the show to label his emotions as love.

“You are actually my type, that’s why I wanted to get to know you, talk to you and everything,” he said. “I’m not gonna sit down and act like I’m not attracted to you. Anyway, I’m very much attracted to you, it’s Day 4 so I can’t say that I like you but what I would say for sure is that you are someone…”

During the conversation, Kola accused Dede of having a deeper connection with Jason Jae, another housemate. Dede, however, firmly denied the claim, stressing that her relationship with Jason is purely friendly.

She went on to make her stance clear—she is in a committed relationship outside the house and is not open to anything beyond friendship in the Big Brother house.

“I’m in a relationship outside the house, very serious, really not open,”she said.

Dede also issued a firm warning, making it clear that even if Kola developed stronger feelings later on, nothing romantic would happen between them.

“So coming to an agreement and you say ‘Okay, cool, I know you have a relationship outside and I respect that and I wanna try to be your friend.’ That’s cool. But if tomorrow you trying to be my friend and there’s feelings involved and I’m hearing all I need reciprocation, it will not happen. It will definitely not happen by God‘s Grace,” she said.

Ex Chelsea star: “Playing for England is more attractive than playing for Nigeria”

The former Chelsea and Juventus attacker was eligible to play for Nigeria and England, but she chose the latter

Former Chelsea attacker Eni Aluko has attributed the trend of Nigerian players with dual nationalities opting for other countries to the lack of appeal of Nigerian football.

The country has lost a lot of sportsmen and women to European and North American countries over the years.

Established world stars like Bukayo Saka, Jamal Misiala, Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, Vicky Lopez, are just some of the players who have been lost to European countries due to their dual nationalities.

In fact if the players who have snubbed the country are assembled, they can easily form a starting eleven for the Super Eagles.

Former Chelsea attacker Aluko, is one of the players who snubbed the Super Falcons to play for another country - England.

The former Three Lionesses star was born in Nigeria to Nigerian parents, but moved to England before she turned a year. She made her debut for England’s senior team at the age of 17 and went on to earn 104 senior caps.

She was a guest on Obi Mikel’s Obi One Podcast, and she spoke about why she feels players with dual nationalities often choose the other countries.

Aluko noted that most of those players hardly have a connection with Nigeria, especially since they were brought up in those countries. Also, the Nigerian national teams aren’t as attractive as the top European countries.

“I think England is England, I think the players that grew up here (England) and choose to play for their country of heritage, it’s usually because they feel like they can’t, they won’t make it a career for England, right. So it’s almost a default decision, which it shouldn’t be,” Aluko said.

“The onus is on the country to make it a very attractive option. And we know that there’s some issues there that still need to be sorted out in terms of the organization, in terms of the investment, in terms of just the professionalism, right?

“So I think it’s really, really important for the Nigerian federation to make sure that it is a competitive choice.”

Although there is an unending list of Nigerians with dual nationalities who chose to represent their other countries, there are also some who committed to the green and white.

The Super Falcons have a good number of players with dual nationalities like Ashleigh Plumptre, Jennifer Echegini, Michelle Alozie, Toni Payne, and a few others.

In the Super Eagles fold, there are players like Ademola Lookman, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, and Joe Aribo.

“Tinubu’s govt is performing but just don’t know how to communicate” – Ex-Niger Governor

Former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, has stated that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is making progress but has failed to effectively communicate its accomplishments to the public.

Aliyu made this observation during an appearance on The Morning Show, a current affairs programme aired on Arise Television.

His comments were in response to the recent public accountability session held in Kaduna, where federal ministers and top government officials presented the administration’s performance to stakeholders from the North.

The session, organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF), was aimed at addressing concerns raised by some northern political figures who claimed the region was being sidelined under Tinubu’s leadership. Aliyu currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the foundation.

Speaking on the discussions that took place during the Kaduna forum, Aliyu noted that several ministries and government agencies have recorded notable achievements, but poor communication has left the public largely unaware.

“What I understood from all the discussions that we’ve had is that the government officials are either shy or are not communicating well. You do not depend only on the Ministry of Information to be able to communicate with the citizens,” Aliyu said.

He emphasised the need for individual ministers and agency heads to actively engage the public and explain what they are doing, rather than relying solely on centralised communication channels.

Aliyu added that ongoing challenges such as insecurity, kidnapping, and poverty have also negatively affected public perception of the administration, even though progress is being made in some areas.

According to him, the government must adopt a more direct and people-focused approach to communication, rather than being overly concerned with political narratives.

He also backed calls from the North for greater inclusion and benefits, pointing out that a significant portion of the votes that brought Tinubu to power came from the region.

“If by what we say that 63 to 64 percent of the vote came from the North, it is only logical that the region would expect so much from the government,” Aliyu said. “But from what we have seen so far, the government is doing well — they just don’t know how to communicate very well.”

He urged the administration to become more transparent and deliberate in engaging with the Nigerian public to build trust and understanding across all regions.
