La Liga: Barcelona begin title defence with 3-0 win over nine-man Mallorca

Barcelona begin their La Liga title defence with a 3-0 win over nine-man Mallorca in a chaotic contest at Estadi de Son Moix.

Raphinha opened the scoring after just seven minutes, heading in a cross from Lamine Yamal.

Ferran Torres doubled the lead midway through the first half, capitalising on confusion as Mallorca’s players stopped play with Antonio Raillo injured in the box.

Manu Morlanes was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession, and Mallorca were reduced to nine men before half-time when Vedat Muriqi was dismissed following a VAR review for a high boot on Eric Garcia.

Barcelona pressed for a third after the interval, with Dani Olmo and Raphinha both going close, before Yamal sealed the win deep into stoppage time with a curling effort.

Debutant Marcus Rashford had minimal impact after he was introduced in the second half, confirming his La Liga registration earlier reported by gistreel.com.

EPL: Man City new signings steal show in 4-0 win over Wolves

Manchester City opened their Premier League campaign with a dominant 4-0 win over Wolves, as debutants Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki made an immediate impact in Pep Guardiola’s new-look side.

Reijnders, signed in the summer to help fill the void left by Kevin De Bruyne’s move to Napoli, scored once and was instrumental in two other goals during an impressive first outing.

Cherki, introduced in the second half, sealed the win with a fine finish just eight minutes after coming on.

The result provided Guardiola’s men with a bright start after last season’s struggles.

There was a moment of concern in stoppage time when Nico Gonzalez landed awkwardly, though he was able to continue after receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, Wolves supporters paid tribute throughout the game to former striker Diogo Jota, applauding and chanting his name.

BBNaija: Focus On Entertainment Not Just Romance – Adekunle Urges Fans

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Adekunle has voiced his frustration over the way fans are engaging with the current season of the reality show.

According to him, the excessive focus on relationships, potential ships, and drama is overshadowing the entertainment value of the program.

According to Adekunle, fans should shift their attention to appreciating the diverse personalities and talents of the housemates.

He notes that with 26 contestants in the house, more than half of whom are incredibly entertaining, there’s a wealth of content to enjoy beyond romantic storylines.

Adekunle also reminds fans that everything happening in the house is part of a game, where contestants are playing roles to achieve their goals and by fixating on a handful of housemates and their relationships, fans are diluting the potential of the season.

Adekunle’s request fans to enjoy the show in its entirety, taking in the various curated events, like the pool party and wager presentation, which are designed to enhance the viewer’s experience.

He wrote on X: “You guys aren’t enjoying this show and it sucks. I haven’t watched the show since Wednesday, and I hoped to get updates on the TL. But instead, it’s talk about alleged ships, potential ships and the drama within the triangles.

“There are 26 people in that house and more than half of them are incredibly entertaining. THIS IS AN ENTERTAINMENT SHOW, not a show about love. I’m genuinely asking now, because I don’t get it. What exactly is the entertaining value in

-boy likes girl, boy goes after girl.

-girl likes the attention, girl plays hard to get.

-boy talks to other girls, girl talks to other boys. Yes, it’s a storyline, but come on guys !

“There has been 9 seasons of the show and only a handful of ships have been successful afterwards. Year in, year out you guys always do this. FOCUS ON SHIPS – especially the ones that are unlikely to sail, WHY?

“Remember that everyone in that house is playing a game. Some people get in there knowing exactly what they want to do. Others figure it out while they’re in there, while others have to constantly remind themselves where they are and that – it’s all still a game.

“There was a pool party, a wager presentation and other things this week. These things are curated for the viewers experience. Allow yourselves to be entertained by EVERYTHING, not just the drama. Don’t make these housemates come out and pretend to be something they’re not just because they want to satisfy the fans.

“This season has the potential to be one of the best, but we’ll dilute it if we focus on just a handful of the housemates. Let’s enjoy the SHOW. Let’s focus on ENTERTAINMENT!”

I Better Not Get Any Mami Water Allegation – Ayra Starr Expresses Worry Over Her New Trend

Ayra Starr, the Nigerian singer, has voiced concern that her new ‘Hot Body’ trend on social media might trigger conspiracy theories about her.

The ‘Hot Body’ crooner said she hopes she doesn’t get accused of being demonic due to the unconventional nature of the trend.

“I better not get any mami water allegation because of this hot body video,” she shared via her X handle.

‘Hot Body’ is Ayra Starr’s first single since joining American mogul Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. She and her team created a trend for the song where young women dance and flaunt their “hot bodies” while it played on the background.

Ayra Starr has been accused of promoting nudity with the trend, with singer Jaywon recently questioning her fashion sense and asking if she doesn’t have parents to advise her.

In 2023, Ayra Starr’s label mate, Rema was caught in the web of conspiracy theories after he was accused of using “satanic/Illuminati” symbols while performing at his headline concert at London’s 02 Arena, on November 14, 2023.

Addressing the allegations via his X handle, Rema explained that the artificial horse he rode on stage with was a replica of a Benin artifact, and the mask he wore was a replica of the famous Queen Idia mask.

In an interview with Rolling Stone in March 2025, Rema also debunked allegations of “being part of the Illuminati, worshipping the devil, and drinking blood.”

Music Is Dictated By Women – British-Nigerian Singer, Darkoo Says

British-Nigerian singer Darkoo has asserted that women play a major role in driving the popularity of most songs and music genres.

The Favourite Girl hitmaker explained that a lot of songs garnered buzz because women like them and often influenced men into liking or playing songs they like.

Appearing in a recent episode of the Comfortably Speaking podcast, Darkoo used the rise of the South African genre, Amapiano, as an example of a genre popularised by women, claiming it gained attention after women started dancing to its beats on social media.

“The truth of the matter is music, the world in general, is dictated by women. You play Sexyy Red in your car, why?

“Because you go and pick up one girl, you want her to enter your Lamborghini, what are you going to play? Are you going to play trap, trap in a Brando?

“A lot of music you like is because women like it. And if you listen to certain genres of music, I feel like women got into Amapiano first when they were doing dance trends on social media.

“Back then, people were looking at them like they were being weird. But now, men are f*cking with Amapiano,” she explained.
