BREAKING: Dangote Refinery Reduces Fuel Price Massively

Dangote Refinery has significantly lowered its ex-depot petrol price to strengthen its competitive edge over the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and other filling stations across Nigeria.

Checks on Petroleumpriceng on Friday morning showed that Dangote Refinery’s ex-depot price dropped to N699 per litre, down from N828 per litre.

This represents a N129, or 15.58 per cent, reduction in petrol prices.

The latest adjustment marks approximately the 20th price review this year and comes ahead of the Yuletide season.

Dangote Refinery’s ex-depot price review follows announcements by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company and fuel filling stations of at least two price reductions in the past three weeks, pushing the retail price between N915 and N937 per litre in Abuja.

Men Are The Real Gold Diggers – Media Personality, Toke Makinwa Challenges Stereotypes On Marriage (Video)

Nigerian media personality and fashion influencer Toke Makinwa has sparked a new debate on gender, marriage, and finances by claiming that men, rather than women, are the biggest gold diggers.

Makinwa made the remarks on a new episode of her podcast, where she dissected the long-standing stereotype that women marry wealthy men for financial gain.

Speaking passionately, the media star criticised the way society weaponises the term gold digger against women. She argued that the accusation overlooks the increasing number of men who deliberately marry into affluent families.

“People are constantly always insulting women for knowing what they want,”
she said.

“You sit with all these podcasts as men, or you air your thoughts as some men and say women are dating men for money, women are doing this. The other gender are the biggest gold diggers in the world.”

According to her, many men boldly pursue and marry women from wealthy homes without facing the same level of scrutiny.

“They marry generational wealth, and they do it without shame,”
she added.

Despite her critique, Makinwa clarified that she harbours no resentment toward men who marry strategically for financial security.

“And I don’t hate on them,” she noted, stressing that marriage has always included elements of financial consideration on both sides.

To emphasise her point, she revealed that she would give her own brother similar advice.

“If my brother comes to me with two ladies and asks which one to marry, I will advise him to marry the one from a good financial background,”
Makinwa said.

Tinubu’s Anti-Corruption War Has Derailed Into Political Witch-Hunt – Atiku Blows Hot

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has warned that Nigeria’s anti-corruption campaign is veering dangerously off track and evolving into an outright political witch-hunt.

Atiku warned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and other anti-graft bodies to purge themselves of partisan contamination before they permanently lose the trust of Nigerians.

He was reacting to the arrest and detention of a former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

In a statement signed by his media team, titled: “Anti-Corruption Fight Has Derailed Into a Full-Blown Political Witch-Hunt,”

Atiku said the anti-graft agency is “straying far from the noble principles upon which it was created. Instead of upholding justice,” he said, “the agency is now weaponising its powers to serve narrow political agendas.”

According to him, “The politicisation of corruption investigations has rendered the EFCC’s credibility suspect and rubbished the very ideals that inspired its establishment.

“We expected the EFCC to voice its objection to the appointment of former governors with unresolved corruption allegations. But partisan loyalty prevailed over integrity.

“The EFCC, now operating like a political rottweiler, is deployed to intimidate and coerce politicians into joining the APC. And once they bow to pressure, their corruption cases mysteriously vanish.”

The former Vice President said the selective pursuit of Malami by the EFCC was “shameless.”

TIN: Nigerians Must Have Tax ID For Operating Bank Account – FG Declares

The federal government has announced that, starting January 1, 2026, all taxable Nigerians will be required to have a Tax Identification Number (TIN) or Taxpayer Identification Number to operate bank accounts in the country, as part of new tax reforms.

The chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms in Nigeria, Taiwo Oyedele, disclosed this in an interview he posted on his X account on Thursday.

He explained that Section 4 of the Nigerian Tax Administration Act, to be implemented on January 1, 2026, makes it mandatory for taxable persons to have a tax ID.

He, however, said that students and dependents are exempt from having a tax ID for an operating bank account.

Oyedele stressed that the policy has been in place since the Finance Act of 2020, but the NTAA provides a legal framework for its implementation.

He added that income earners, including businesses with existing TINs, do not need a new tax ID.

“Yes, but with some exemptions. A section of the NTAA requires a taxable person to register and obtain a tax ID.

“A taxable person is anyone who earns income through trade, business, or any economic activity. So banks must request a tax ID from taxable persons. This means that individuals who do not earn an income, such as students and dependents, do not need to obtain a tax ID.

“Any taxable entity without a tax ID may have difficulty running their bank account in the near future,” he said in the interview.

This comes amid fears from Nigerians that their bank accounts without a tax ID may be restricted.

Recall that in June 2025 President Bola Ahmed signed into law new tax laws to be implemented in January 2026.
