Nigeria’s Lookman Breaks Atalanta Goals Record

Nigerian striker Ademola Lookman has made history by becoming the first striker for his club, Atlanta in his first season to score 13 goals.
He scored his 13th league goal in Atalanta’s 3-1 win over Cremonese in a Serie A fixture played at the Stadio Giovanni Zini on Saturday, to reach that milestone in his first season for the Nerazzurri in 70 years.
The Nigerian international last weekend ended his seven-game goals drought when he netted Atalanta’s third goal over Cremonese.
The 25-year-old winger came on in the 46th minute for Luis Muriel and finally found the net for the first time since January, taking his goals to 13 in 27 league matches.
The former Everton striker has also been impressive for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side and has formed an important part of the team.
Overall, the winger has scored a total of 15 goals in 29 matches for the Nerazzurri across all competitions this season.
According to statistical source Stats Perform – Opta, the former Leicester City winger is the first Atalanta player to net 13 goals in his first Serie A season since Poul Rasmussen in 1952/ 953.

“With Saturday’s goal against Cremonese, Ademola Lookman became the rookie to have scored the most in this league.

“The Nigerian striker has in fact reached 13 goals, detaching Kvaratskhelia of Napoli, and moving to third place overall in the scorers chart.

“The last Atalanta player to score at least 13 goals at this point of the season on his debut in Serie A was Poul Rasmussen in 1952/1953.”

Yakubu: I Don’t Fear Death, I’ll Rather Go Down Fighting For Justice – Falz

Folarin Falana, the famous Nigerian hip-hop artist, who is popularly known as Falz, has talked about why he does confrontational music.

In a recent interview with Arise TV, Falz said he was not afraid of death, stressing that life in Nigeria is not meaningful.

The multi-talented entertainer featured on the programme ‘Music as a Socio-political Tool’, on the heels of his latest song with his colleague, Vector – ‘Yakubu‘, titled after the chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

The rappers, in the song, called out INEC, its chairman and other political parties allegedly involved in the electoral malpractices in the just-concluded general elections.

According to Falz, he would rather go down fighting for justice than to remain silent and die from the failed system of the country.

The rapper, who joined the programme via Skype from the United Kingdom, explained that he was not abroad because he was afraid of confrontation from state actors over the controversial song.

He said, “I knew that was going to come up when you announced that I was doing this from London. Like I said earlier on, this is not the first time, this is not the second time, this is not the third time.

“I have released tons of records that are very confrontational. And I was on ground. I’m always on ground when I released these records.

“It is not to say that I’m running anywhere. Absolutely not. Everyone know where to find me. If anyone wants to find me. But I have no reason to fear anything. And I always say this when people ask me ‘how do you do these things without any fear of consequences?’

“And this is the same answer that I always give: the kind of life we are living already is one which we are more or less fading away already. It’s not a meaningful life what we have in Nigeria as a country.

“What’s the worst that could happen? It’s death. I don’t fear death. I would rather go down fighting for a just cause. I would rather be remembered as someone that lived a life that was meaningful rather than someone that for example was walking down the road and got run over by a danfo [bus] because he was driving recklessly.

“Or, someone that got a heart disease and could not save himself because there are no hospitals capable of saving him in Nigeria,” Falz added.

Why I Won’t Marry Virgin – Comedian, Nedu

Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, the popular Nigerian media personality, who is popularly known as Nedu, has revealed why he won’t marry a virgin.

He said most virgins are not good at decision-making, adding that nonvirgins make better decisions.

The comedian stated recently on The Honest Bunch audiovisual podcast cohosted by him.

According to him, most virgins believe virginity is their pride and all they bring to the table.

He said, “If I want marry, I’ll not marry person wey be virgin. I will tell you why. I think girls that are not virgins make decisions better. Most girls that are virgins they believe ‘Oh this is my pride. My virginity is my pride. My virginity is my value. I’m a 30-year-old and I’m a virgin. I’ve kept myself.”

However, actress Juliana Olayode who was a guest on the show, countered Nedu’s claims that virgins are bad at decision-making.

She said, “There are a lot of women who are virgins and are very knowledgeable. They know that that is not all there is to them. You can bring one million, and they will increase it to fifty million. So, I don’t think it is an experience thing.

“Experience thing puts pressure on a lot of people. I’m speaking especially for people like Juliana [myself] that have a Juliana kind of mindset about this situation. I feel like that person who is a pro now did not start off as a pro. The person already has so many experiences with different men, maybe with the same man, and that is why the person is a pro.”

“So, I feel like we live in a culture where people don’t want to grow with you because there is so much hype about ‘I hit it, I got it right. Yes, I screamed. I shout.’ There is so much hype about that that a lot of people are not willing to just grow with you. And I feel like people who are willing to walk that journey with people, they share more bonds and connections, especially sexual journey, ” Olayode added.
