Nigerian musician Seun Kuti has responded to Wizkid after the pop star took to Instagram to attack him over comparisons with the late Afrobeat icon Fela Kuti.

Seun further pointed out that equating modern commercial success with Fela’s historical influence shows a misunderstanding of history.

Anthony Joshua’s Family Questions Trial Of Driver Over Tragic Car Crash

The driver charged in the car crash that injured Anthony Joshua and killed two of his friends appeared in a Nigerian court on Tuesday, as the star boxer’s uncle questioned whether a trial was “really worth it”.

Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was driving the former two-time heavyweight champion, Joshua, and two of his friends, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, when their Lexus SUV rammed into a stationary truck.

Kayode faces multiple charges of reckless driving, as well as a charge of driving without a licence.

Dressed in black trousers and a hoodie, Kayode appeared downcast and tried to avoid journalists’ cameras outside the courtroom in Sagamu, in the country’s southwest.

“We are very lucky that our son didn’t d!e. But taking this man to court is something we don’t see any reason for,” Joshua’s uncle, Adedamola Joshua, told AFP at the boxer’s family home.

“This is my own personal opinion that the trial is not really worth it. Because we think accidents can happen anywhere in the world.”

At the same time, he added, “we sense the opinion of the people of the town” is that “this man must be prosecuted. That he was overspeeding.”

The Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) in Ogun State, on the section of highway where the crash occurred, told AFP in the aftermath of the December 29 incident that preliminary investigations showed the vehicle was travelling at excessive speed and suffered a burst tyre before the collision.

Kayode’s court appearance on Tuesday was brief, as the judge adjourned the case until February 25 after the prosecution requested a delay.

His lawyer, Olalekan Abiodun, told journalists outside the courtroom that he agreed to the adjournment “in the interest of justice.”

Nigerian police and state officials said Ayodele and Ghami d!ed at the scene, while Joshua and Kayode sustained minor injuries.

Ghami was Joshua’s long-time strength and conditioning coach, while Ayodele was his personal trainer, according to British media.

Adedamola Joshua told AFP that Kayode had been his nephew’s driver for three years and that there had never been any complaints.

His nephew, a British national of Nigerian heritage, frequently visits southwest Nigeria, where he has friends and family.

Late Singer, Destiny Boy’s Father Raises Alarm Over Missing SUV

The father of late Afrobeat singer Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has appealed to Nigerians for assistance after his son’s Sport Utility Vehicle went missing days after the artiste’s de@th.

In a video that went viral on Tuesday, the visibly distressed man expressed concern over the whereabouts of the SUV, alleging that the vehicle was returned to the dealership shortly after Destiny Boy’s passing and has not been seen since.

The grieving father explained that the vehicle was purchased from Lycon Autos and that he personally accompanied his son during the transaction.

According to him, the dealership assigned a driver to convey the SUV to their residence on the day of purchase, adding that the same driver was later retained by the singer for personal use.

He said, “Nigerians, please help me. My son has a car, and the car is with Lycon Autos. Although the car is not new, it is an SUV jeep. We went together to buy it.

“Lycon Autos assigned a driver for him that day to bring the car home. Later, Destiny started using the driver personally.”

He alleged that trouble started when the driver claimed that the singer was owing him money and subsequently returned the SUV to the dealership without informing the family.

“The driver said Destiny was owing him, so he took the car back to where we bought it from. I don’t even have the driver’s number. If the car were here, I would have gone to pick it up,” he added.

Destiny Boy d!ed on Sunday at the age of 22. His mother, Saida, had earlier disclosed that the singer battled a long-term mysterious illness described as “Ogu oru,” which often resulted in seizures.

Speaking on Monday, she said the family made efforts through medical, traditional and spiritual means to manage his condition, adding that it was kept away from the public due to his status as a rising music star.

She also dismissed rumours linking her son’s de@th to money rituals, describing such claims as false and insensitive.

Saida stressed that the family did everything within their means to ensure Destiny Boy was cured of the illness before his untimely de@th.
