Grammy award-winning singer, Burna Boy, breaks silence on why he has been silent on the ongoing 2023 presidential elections.
This comes following the announcement of some collation results of some states in Nigeria; the highlight of it being Peter Obi’s win in Lagos State.
Burna Boy who has been condemned earlier for keeping silent and not lending his voice to his desired candidate opens up to say that he believes in none of the politicians or their parties.
In an Instagram story, Odogwu wrote; “I dunno why it’s such a big deal to some Nigerians that I’ve not been vocal about the elections. Personally I don’t have a candidate that I believe in.
“I’ve never supported any political party or candidate in my life beacause I don’t want to make you vote and then blame me when the person fucks up as usual. That being said, I hope all votes count and the best man wins.”

Burna pressed on to share some reactions from his followers who ridiculed his justifications. A social media user rubbished him for not pointing out a party for his fans to support.
“If it is who will show you who to vote for ur looking for, please look up to someone else,” he wrote in response.

The results of 63 polling units in four Local Government Areas of Kogi have been cancelled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday.
The results were cancelled over thuggery and failed BVAS that characterised Saturday’s polls.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) listed the LGAs involved to include: Okehi, Umala, Ulama-Boro and Ibaji out of several others that suffered a similar fate.
The most affected was Okehi LGA, which the State Government had dug some of its roads, a few days before the election, to ward off criminal elements from gaining access to the area.
Dr Emeka Oguju, Okehi Collation Officer while presenting the results to the State Collation Officer, Prof. Wahab Egbewale at the Kogi Collation Centre, said the results of 31 polling units were cancelled due to thuggery.
Ogujo said that 12, 037 votes were cancelled in the 31 polling units in four wards in which voting materials were carted away by political thugs.
“In most affected polling units, there was violence caused by political thugs, who invaded the units and disrupted the entire process,” he lamented.
Dr L. Adang, the Collation Officer for Umala Local Government Area, told the State Collation Officer at the Situation Room at INEC State Office, that 16 wards were affected by thuggery during the exercise.
According to him, 9,558 votes were cancelled in the affected polling units of the area.
Also presenting his results, Dr Adamu Wakili, Collation Officer for Olama-Boro LGA, disclosed that 3, 582 votes in five polling units were cancelled due to thuggery and non-functional BVAS during the general elections of Saturday.
“Aside from the activities of political thugs that affected the election in our area, we had an issue with one BVAS which couldn’t function because of the remoteness of the community it was taken to.
“We tried to see whether it could work, but we couldn’t and only five units in that community were affected. We have reported that to the REC,” he said.
Also, Ibaji LGA’s Collation Officer, Prof Dauda Tanko, said the results of 11 polling units were cancelled in the area as a result of thuggery.
Tanko, who did not specify the number of votes affected by the cancellation, said four Registration Areas were affected by the activities of political thugs.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, stunned many people when he defeated his counterpart in the All Progressives Congress, and former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, to win the presidential election conducted in Lagos State on Saturday.
In the 20 local government areas making up the state, Obi won in some local governments that many had considered major strongholds for the APC in previous elections.
Polling 575,524 votes in total, Obi cleared votes in Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Amuwo-Odofin, Eti-Osa, Ikeja, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Somolu, Ojo and Alimosho
While Tinubu garnered 573,001 votes from Agege, Apapa, Badagry, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Ifako-Ijaiye, Ikorodu, Mushin, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, and Surulere.
Despite winning two more local governments in the state than the LP candidate, Tinubu still lost the election to Obi on the number of votes won by 2,523 votes.
What’s more striking is that Obi dusted Tinubu in his Ikeja Local Government Area where he voted, and also floored him in Eti-Osa Local Government Area where he resides and built a seeming political fortress in Ikoyi.

He added;
“INEC, in my polling unit alone over 300 people did not vote!! And there are reports of same in many PU’s!! Violence and intimidation!!! If this election was conducted better, the margin of victory for the LP will be way more!!! DO BETTER @inecnigeria.

The Labour Party has called out officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for allegedly manipulating and manufacturing results in states across the country particularly Lagos, Edo, Rivers and Imo.
LP national chairman, Julius Abure who decried the violence meted out on Labour Party supporters at a press briefing in Abuja, called for the cancellation of election results in states across the country which he claimed were “manufactured”.
Abure also asked President Muhammadu Buhari to keep his word of ensuring the 2023 elections are free fair and credible.
He further reiterated that the party will only accept true results obtained at the polling units and not those “manufactured and manipulated”.

The PDP presidential election spokesman, Dele Momodu applauds the supporters of the Labour Party for their turnout in Lagos as Peter Obi takes lead.
Following the collation of results released in Lagos State, the LP presidential candidate led with 32,657 votes while results from three local governments in the state are still pending.
Addressing the result, Dele Momodu applauded the winning party for the remarkable polls despite not being a member of the party.
“Labour Party put up a spectacular display in Lagos and I must salute them even though we are not in the same Party” the PDP spokesman stated.

Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, emerged victorious in Lagos State, defeating the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
It was earlier reported that Obi garnered 449,088 votes, while Tinubu received 416,431. However, Tinubu won in 10 local governments, while LP won in 7 of the 17 LGAs declared.
Despite Tinubu winning a greater number of local government areas, Obi garnered more votes overall after the remaining three Local Government Areas were collated.
The results of all 20 local government areas have been announced, with Tinubu winning in 11 and Obi winning in nine. Ultimately, Obi’s total votes amounted to 582,664, while Tinubu received 541,850.
