War: ‘It’s Time To Negotiate With Iran, Oil Prices Hitting Hard’ – European Commission Says

European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, has said it is time to begin negotiations with Iran to help bring an end to the ongoing war in the Middle East.

Ursula spoke on Monday at the end of a new free-trade deal between the EU and Australia.

She noted that the energy supply situation is very serious for allies around the world.

“We all experience the knock-on effects on gas and oil prices, our businesses, and our societies, but it is crucial that we reach a negotiated solution that ends the hostilities in the Middle East,” she said.

When asked about the role European countries will play in the Strait of Hormuz, including after it opens, von der Leyen said that EU leaders had stated they could take part in an operation once the fighting stops.

“The leaders from the European Union have made it clear that once the fighting stops, they might consider carrying out an operation or a mission,” she said.

“But of course, it is not for me to judge their decision to provide the necessary capabilities in the Strait of Hormuz,” she added.

Nigeria Will Pay Heavy Price If Iran War Doesn’t End, Everyone Will Feel It — Dangote Warns Amid Fuel Price Hike

Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, has cautioned that if the ongoing conflict in the Middle East involving Iran, the United States, and Israel escalates further, its ripple effects will be felt globally.

He disclosed this on Monday after meeting with Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at his Lagos residence.

Dangote, whose 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery had increased its gantry petrol at least five times in March to N1,245 per liter, stressed the consequences of a persistent war in the Gulf region.

In his words, the price of the war would be ‘heavy.’

“If the situation does not de-escalate, we will end up paying a heavy price.

“Energy affects everything. From small businesses like barbers to industries running generators, everyone will feel the impact if costs continue to rise,” he said.

Recall that since the Iran-US-Israel war started on February 28, crude oil prices have surged to above $100 per barrel.

On Monday crude oil prices cooled off after peace talks claimed by President Donald Trump.

However, oil prices continued their upsurge after Iranian authorities denied the peace talks stance by the US.

Nigerians currently buy petrol at N1,367 per liter as of Monday, up from N875 per liter before the Iran-US-Israel war.

Debbie Shokoya, the Nollywood actress, has dismissed viral claims suggesting that singer Obesere is her biological father.

According to the viral news that surfaced on social media over the weekend, Debbie allegedly cried out after years of keeping it a secret.

“Obesere is not my biological father. Please stop spreading fake news! Stop writing or posting things I never said. Some commentators do not even think well enough to know that these things are fake; they start to throw abuses.

My Wife Set Me Up – Nollywood Actor, Baba Ijesha Reveals How His Marriage Crashed

Olanrewaju Omiyinka, the veteran Yoruba actor, has opened up about the circumstances that led to the breakdown of his marriage.

In a podcast interview on Talk to B with actress Biola Adebayo, he described how his support for his wife’s educational plans abroad led to unexpected heartbreak.

According to Baba Ijesha, their marriage initially started smoothly without any conflicts.

Baba Ijesha said when his wife expressed a wish to pursue a master’s degree in the United Kingdom, he took it upon himself to handle all the preparations.

He bought her plane ticket, helped with her visa, and took care of everything needed to ensure her journey went smoothly.

However, he revealed that after she arrived in the UK, he learned that her reason for going was not truly academic.

Instead, the actor said she used the trip as a chance to reconnect with another man. The revelation left him shocked and marked the painful end of their union.

He said: “There was no problem with my marriage from the start. After the wedding, my wife told me she wanted to go for her master’s in the UK. So I bought her ticket, processed her visa, and did everything necessary.

“She then left Nigeria for the UK. Unknown to me, it was a setup. She had another man she was dating and wanted to go and have fun with.”

NNPCL Filling Stations Increase Fuel Prices After Dangote Refinery’s Hike

Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited retail outlets have raised their fuel pump prices to over one dollar per liter.

This is coming after Dangote Refinery’s fourth price hike last week.

According to Daily Post, checks on Monday showed that NNPCL filling stations in Abuja and environs hiked their petrol price at the weekend to N1,367 per liter, up from N1,261.

This means that NNPCL retail outlets increased their petrol price by N106 per liter, making domestic pump prices to surge above $1, with N1,353.90 per dollar at the official foreign exchange market, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s data.

Dangote Refinery had hiked its price from N70 to N1,245 per liter on Friday on the grounds of rising crude oil prices, which skyrocketed to above $110 per barrel.

The refinery’s price hike had resulted in a nationwide retail fuel price hike.

Earlier, it was reported that the Dangote Refinery-backed MRS and other filling stations raised their petrol pump prices to N1,367 and N1,440 per liter.

Don’t Drag My Children Into Your Claims – Actress Iyabo Ojo Issues Warning To Baba Ijesha

Iyabo Ojo, the popular Nollywood actress, has issued a stern warning to Nigerian actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka aka Baba Ijesha, urging him to stop mentioning her children in his public statements.

She made this known in a post shared on her Instagram page on Sunday, where she addressed the actor directly and made it clear that she would not tolerate any further mention of her children in his narrative.

She stated that she is ready to take legal steps if the situation continues. The actress explained that her children were always properly cared for while growing up.

According to her, they were never left alone, as they were under the supervision of nannies or her late mother.

She also spoke about her former business location in Ilu-Peju, Lagos, noting that several staff members worked there, including stylists, sales attendants, and trainees.

This, she said, made it unlikely that she would personally leave her children in unsafe conditions or run errands by herself.

Iyabo Ojo said she has no issue with Baba Ijesha sharing his own side of events but insisted that her children must not be used in any attempt to gain sympathy or public support.

She stressed that the case involving a minor remains a serious matter and pointed out that the court had already delivered its judgment based on available evidence.

She wrote: “Stop using my children as your cheap bait. It won’t fly. I honestly have no problem with you telling your side of the story, but take this as a notice to cease and desist from using my children. The 14-year-old girl was a minor, and sexual assault is never okay. It is a crime.

“You should show some remorse. The court found you guilty based on evidence, so please don’t drag my kids into this. Stop mentioning their names, else I would direct my counsel to serve you appropriate papers.”

Her reaction follows an interview granted by Baba Ijesha, where he spoke about his past relationship with the actress and mentioned times he claimed she left her children in his care.

He expressed sadness over how their relationship has changed and maintained that he never meant any harm.

In one of the accounts he shared, he described an incident at her shop in Ilu-Peju where he said he was asked to look after the children while she stepped out.

He claimed he later left them briefly with an apprentice and went to check on her, only to meet a crowd at the location.

How Childhood Trauma Made Me Hate Men, S3x – Nollywood Actress, Peju Johnson Opens Up

Peju Johnson, the popular Nigerian actress, has addressed the backlash to her latest film, Right Thing, which premiered on her YouTube channel.

The movie caught the public’s attention not just for its story but also for a scene portraying intimacy between her and another actor, which sparked debates online.

Peju Johnson, in a post on her Instagram page, explained that her personal life differs from the role she played.

She revealed that she is not attracted to men and has no interest in s*x.

According to her, her family and close friends are aware of this.

She shared that past experiences and trauma have shaped her views on relationships and intimacy.

The actress added that since the start of 2026, she has not been s*xually active, stressing that her choices are personal and should not be judged based on the characters she portrays on screen.

She recalled that childhood trauma played a role in forming her feelings toward men and s*x.

Johnson also criticised the Nigerian film industry’s tendency to label successful and attractive actresses as immoral.

She described the stereotype as unfair and rooted in societal bias, saying that being in the spotlight often brings assumptions that are untrue.

She said, “Since I dropped my latest movie, Right Thing, on YouTube, there’s a particular intimacy scene that has been going viral, and people are reacting differently to it. I’m not someone who is attracted to men. People who know me well, especially my family, are aware that I’m simply not interested in men or in s*x.

“Let me be honest, since the beginning of 2026, I haven’t had s*x. I am a grown woman, if I want to do it, why not? I would. So, why would people be judging me wrongly because of a movie role?

“I had a childhood trauma that made me hate men and s*x. It’s not easy being an actress, especially a beautiful one. There’s this assumption that if you’re successful and in the spotlight, you must be promiscuous.

“That stereotype needs to stop. Being in the spotlight often brings assumptions that are untrue. Success and beauty do not define a person’s private life or character.”
